When we went to Crete last year the couple next door had their own olive oil plantation and had olive oil in wine bottle sizes, really good pure stuff, and it was sickening that we couldn't take back the litre bottle they gave to us.

Mellow - the milks look nice but it was a foam I was after. Just thought I'd ask as I couldn't see any on your website, not to worry.

Just got off phone with agent, vendor's rental has now collapsed and she wants a mth between exchange and completion now Let's see if she's willing to put us up in a hotel when we become homeless.

rosmerta · 29/05/2008 18:01

sj, how annoying! Surely it can't take a month to find another rental?

I've got a long day tomorrow, off to Manchester and have to be at tube station by 5.45am

SJ99 · 29/05/2008 18:06

Exactly. Turns out she doesn't want to pay a deposit on a flat until she has the security of exchanging. She's scared we'll pull out and she'll lose her deposit. By doing this we won't complete in time before our rental expires so we will have to come to some financial arrangement....

Have a good trip to Manchester, don't envy the early start

Paddlechick666 · 29/05/2008 18:10

sj, even tho i have been buying and selling houses since i was 19 (over half my life eek!) other people's underhand behaviour never fails to amaze me.

they absolutely know what they are doing when they suck you in and agree to all sorts then hit you with their whammy whatever it might be.

my buyer last year took the biscuit. dread to think what will happen this time around.

am really not optimistic of selling altho agent maintains there is interest.

anyway, am very on your behalf.

is there any chance your agent will extend your rental by 1 month? especially if they haven't got a tenent yet?

ros, have fun tomorrow.

sfxmum · 29/05/2008 18:24

SJ that is awful! I still smart from the mess it was when we moved when we effectively had to pay for this place and nearly a full month on the place we were renting
some people are just really difficult.
& the oil thing how gutting

mellow - Waitrose Carluccio several independent shops too, sometimes I go to a portuguese shop if feeling particularly nostalgic.

Ros have a nice time you can always sleep on the train

mellow2 · 29/05/2008 18:34

sj,
That's underhand. Would you be able to get your landlord to extend your lease by a month?

Ros,
Have a good trip. I don't envy the early start either. I'm not sure which tinted moisturiser colour suits you better. I'll bring round different colours when I come round.

fitfox · 29/05/2008 19:05

Oooh I do like a bit of extra, extra virgin Olive Oil

Mellow - it may have irritated my scalp but my scalp was already irritated by some other product I had been using. Its now un-irritated atm so I will try and find that sample to give it another go, as it will be easier to monitor it this time.

mellow2 · 29/05/2008 19:11

I'm out of my nice extra virgin olive oil which I use for salads and breads. I'm going to make a special trip an Italian deli in Victoria to buy a bottle as they are cheaper.

Thanks, foxie. I would appreciate the feedback about the shampoo.

SJ99 · 29/05/2008 19:29

I've yet to meet anyone who has had a stress free house purchase yet! Obviously something has happened with her personal cirumstance, prior to today we both wanted to exchange and complete as fast as possible, now she has changed her timelines. Had we known from the beginning we wouldn't have given notice when we did. Can only ask landlord tomorrow for extension but they will only do so if this place remains unlet and we won't find out til it's too late.

Agreed Sfx - want to try and avoid double rent and mortgage, and also try and avoid double removal/storage costs if we have to move out somwhere else til she sorts out her rental. Surely seller should do whatever it takes to secure the sale especially in this market? Sorry for rant, better go and take it out on the ironing board!

SJ99 · 29/05/2008 19:31

Oh there is a really nice deli shop in Kingston which sells a selection of oil on tap! I remember I bought some truffle oil there last yr. Will try and remember the name

rosmerta · 29/05/2008 19:33

Thanks Mellow, we'll have to try and sort out a time to meet up!

sfx, my thought exactly re sleeping on the train. Just a really long day as I won't get home till about 9.30pm. One advantage though is my mum is coming down tonight so chances are I'll get a lie in on Saturday

mellow2 · 29/05/2008 19:43

sj - you have every right to have a rant.

Kewcumber · 29/05/2008 20:44

SJ - just say no unless she is an idiot she will go ahead anyway. She is trying it on to see how far she gets.

SJ99 · 29/05/2008 21:01

You are probably right KC. Just so annoying when we're so close to exchange. We'd be willing to extend our rental if she would like to pay for the convenience...

fitfox · 29/05/2008 21:41

SJ it may be worth suggesting just that -that she pays the extra rental you incur

Agree with Kew she is playing games

I remember when we bought this house and the seller stalled and tried to delay the exchange date. We only found out later that he was attempting to allow someone to gazump us!! We called his bluff by saying "exchange by 12 noon on agreed date or the deal is off". He exchanged at 11.30am that day.

If we had allowed him to stall we woldhave been gazumped and lost the house

sfxmum · 29/05/2008 22:54

dd has been strange getting to sleep lately she seems to have a little cry everyday, this is new, and today she got really upset saying that the 'not nice dreams' from last night were floating above her bed
so I blew them away and then replaced them with sparkly happy fluffy ones
this seems to have worked, at least for her dollyshe got lots of kisses and said see it is ok now Annie, then she asked me if I wanted a kiss too
crazy little girl

Kewcumber · 29/05/2008 23:09

I'm still stumped that you are all not completely horrifed by £25 to pay for 6 teaspoons of olive oil to rub on your face . It's official you lot are bonkers.

Kewcumber · 29/05/2008 23:10

Think I'm going to take DS to Kidzone tomorow morning if anyone wants to join me. Must ring byunyan just in case she's up for it - she lives around the corner doesn't she?

sfxmum · 29/05/2008 23:12

not interested in this then? my guess it is also made of olive oil and gobeldigook

Kewcumber · 29/05/2008 23:20

its nivea cold cream in a posh pot

sfxmum · 29/05/2008 23:52

yes I think she does but I think she said she will be having visitors tomorrow - not sure when anyway end of report

I will probably need to go to Richmond at some point followed by more baking what a full day, might take dd to the library.

now every time she is out of the buggy the little monkey just runs away, was hiding in the dresses at M&S today, I got a few disapproving looks from old matrons and mad colonel types

Paddlechick666 · 30/05/2008 08:48

morning all

why does dd sleep till 7:30am on any day that we have to get up and out the door but wakes up 6:30am on days off?

we're off to Tesco shortly, might pop into kidzone on way back Kew. What time are you going and is it expensive?

spent the morning trying to keep lively child quiet. am so fed up with this now.

dd has started talking about the old house and wanting to go back, when "the other people leave". it is (irrationally) making me think she was happier there than here. it's been 6m virtually, surely she should've forgotten it by now.....

sfxmum · 30/05/2008 09:49

good morning all

sympathies paddle, poor mini pads it really is so unfair.

here I am struggling to keep my eyes open, had had proper night terrors last night and it was very upsetting, any attempt to comfort her just made her more upset until eventually she woke up properly - so very tired mummy and child with restless sleep who will probably be cranky and over emotional today, not sure I will actually venture into town after all

SJ99 · 30/05/2008 09:56

Morning all

Poor mini-sfx, sounds like you both had an awful night, wishing you a better day

Paddle - poor you and mini-pads too. Their memories are really quite amazing. DS remembered a playgroup which we hadn't been to for 5mths, as soon as he saw the place he wanted to go home (he must have bad memories of the place)

Foxie - will need to come up with a plan at wkend which involves some financial compensation for us otherwise it's a no-goer

Off to 2.5yr check soon so shame we can't make Kidzone this morning, have fun!

MrsRecycle · 30/05/2008 10:23

morning all. sfx sorry to hear about your night - comforting doesn't work does it? The best thing is to sing her a favourite nursery rhyme to bring her out of it. Also, does she get quite hot when she sleeps - dd2 still does and I think this used to trigger the NTs.

pc - sorry to hear about your neighbours again - they do say the best way to deal with confrontation is to be polite but its hard to do when your dd has to tipto around yet they think nothing of slammming doors all hours.

sj - your vendors are being a right pain aren't they? I am always amazed by people buying houses who forget about the deposit they have to pay at exchange. Surely when anyone plans to move they always have the money for this?

well dh rang me at 1am last night, ds, him and ds have been throwing up all night. And I'm at home on my own, having to work. (lucky me for a change!). I'm heading down the van a bit later on, but will be faced with mountains of washing and sick kids (dh included).
