thanks SJ&mrsR don't think she was too hot, if anything I tend to keep her cool. who knows what goes on in her mind, both parents are restless sleepers so guessing that doesn't help.

ComeOVeneer · 30/05/2008 12:43

Hi all. Will have to find a few hours to catch up on all the news. Hope everyone is well, pregnancies going fine, house moves still rolling along etc. Sushi, how was your trip?

Well I am back and slowly getting over the jet lag. Our flight returning was delayed for mechanical reasons and ended up being cancelled. So we were put up an extra night in a hotel and flown out the next evening upgraded to business class! Fortunatelt my parents were fine about having the children for an extra day, and the children didn't seem to care either .

We had a lovely break, although I did feel a bit ropey for the flight out and the following day, but a day at the spa certainly helped. Plus some lovely meals out, retail therapy, catching up with friends, and culture (all enjoyed without small children in tow) does wonders to rejuvenate one!!!!

Well it is now back to the real world. DH went back to work today and I have been doing the laundry/unpacking etc, and promised the children a trip to Bushy (if it doesn't rain) - did I mention it was in the 80's in CHicago and I have a nice tan ?

What was especially nice was how clean and tidy the house was on our return (like mother like daughter as they say). Even better was they spent Saturday doing the garden which was in desperate need of pruning/weeding etc having not been touched since last autumn, so we came back to a beautiful garden complete with some new plants all potted up, so ready for the summer!

Anyway best go spend some time with the children. Catch you later.

ComeOVeneer · 30/05/2008 18:14

OK, what did I miss in my absence. Have you all defected elsewhere?

mellow2 · 30/05/2008 19:22

Welcome back, COV.

I'm having the most awful time trying to import some clothes from the US. Aargh!

fitfox · 30/05/2008 21:02

CoV glad you had a good trip and a well deserved rest!

Does your mother want to adopt me? We have a large back garden in dire need of some TLC!!

Talking of face creams, has anyone tried the famous Waitrose "Bottom Butter"? It is supposed to be great for mummy skin too!!

We had a rather nice day today - swimming lessons then the rest of the day in Kew Gardens (via treetop walk and C&C)

The DC's have friends coming over for morning playdate and lunch tomorrow so it will be pasta all round

Paddle - [hugs] to you and DD

SFX perhaps your DD is Astral Projecting?

Oh di I mention that our boiler has packed up. We just about have hot water but no heating (which is OK atm anyway). We have to buy a new bioler (ouch!!!) - anyone know of a good and cheap Corgi registered boiler fitter???

ComeOVeneer · 30/05/2008 21:14

Foxie, have been a devotee of "bottom butter" for the last couple of months, it is fab and very cheap to boot.

ComeOVeneer · 30/05/2008 22:29

OK have I mised a mmet up by any chance? Where are you all?

sfxmum · 30/05/2008 23:35

hello COV welcome back, no no meet up, I expect everyone is just too depressed at the thought of the rubbish weather we have been putting up with.
glad you had a nice rest, shame about the delayed flight and extra night

I am up to my elbows in icing and losing the will to carry on, oh well she is only 3 and will not really notice as long as the cake is made of chocolate and is even remotely connected to Thomas all should be well[nervous grin]

night night

Paddlechick666 · 31/05/2008 08:00

morning all, welcome back CoV.

dd slept till 7am whoo hoo!

neighbours have been moderately awful.

we went swimming yesterday arvo, excellent fun for both of us and afternoon swimming negates need for bath!

need to get this house tidied up today altho no news from agent. parents looked around the Green Door house yesterday. it's apparently very tatty so will need a fair bit doing to it. all cosmetic really.

i will wait for more progress on my sale before trekking up to view. cost of diesel is crippling me at present.

H has a new job but doesn't start till July so next couple of months are going to be tight for me.

can't believe we're pretty much half way thru 2008

fitfox · 31/05/2008 11:14

Mornin' All

DS1 and DD are waiting for their playdates to arrive.

DS1 (watching from window for his friend's parent's car) : "His car same car as ours, but dark blue. Its full of mess like ours too."

sfxmum · 31/05/2008 11:24

We must really get together to do our book swap....

fitfox · 31/05/2008 20:25

Hmmm I'd love a swim SJ - its so theraputic isn't it?

rosmerta · 31/05/2008 21:34

evening all,

Just want to give a warning to you all that there's a strange woman driving around West London, shouting at people through the car window

foxie, I will go and start a book swap thread right now! Probably best to arrange it for July?

rosmerta · 31/05/2008 21:43

book swap thread

Paddlechick666 · 31/05/2008 21:47

evening all

i think we should all post on the Chat thread to do with MN-ers that you have met and where/why.

sfx, great afternoon. dd thoroughly enjoyed herself and respect to your dh for coping so well! thanks for the whistle

oh btw, watch out for strange women in west london winding down their windows and yelling at you

Paddlechick666 · 31/05/2008 21:48

ps: who watched An Audience With Neil Diamond?

He ROCKS! Can't believe he's all cool and trendy now. Loved him since I was 15.

I so cannot wait for Glastonbury now!

rosmerta · 31/05/2008 21:54

too late paddle, I got there first [sticks tongue out]!

Btw, I'm taking ds swimming to Richmond tomorrow morning if anyone fancies joining us

sfxmum · 31/05/2008 22:09

clearly west London is very very posh, particularly its lady drivers

after everyone left dh sat on the sofa and was asleep within a minute, he slept for half an hour until dd woke him up with a whistle

nice to see all, tomorrow is entertain the in laws day

thanks for thread Ros will post we also need an evening out, surely we can still do June

Paddle are you going to Glasto too? lucky lucky my darling Leonard will be there sniff sniff

and talking of oldies love Burt Bacharach

Paddlechick666 · 31/05/2008 22:14

lol sfx, i've hidden the whistle now. the bubbles were a resounding success in the bath. they are saved now for the adult drinks we are attending tomorrow arvo.

ros, i still have a book (at least) of yours. will check out the thread.

yep I am going to Glasto. H bought me a ticket and we are having a dry run in the campervan next weekend. i've struck a deal that if it goes well he can have my spare Latitude ticket. either way i will have the campervan for latitude.

Honestly tho, I really only agreed to go to Glasto for Neil Diamond and Leonard Cohen. Dare I admit to James Last and Carly Simon as well?

Good luck with the ILS!

Great to finally meet you Sushi too

Kewcumber · 31/05/2008 23:37

I have burnt hidden whistle too.

fitfox · 01/06/2008 10:28

Whistles are banned in this house too

This house votes for a ban on whistles...

Talking of oldies, someone on another thread pointed out that Johnny Cash had been on TV recently singing "Ring of Fire" - the anthem of the last stage of birthing!

sfxmum · 01/06/2008 11:07

you do know Johnny Cash is dead don't you?
a boy named Sue still makes me chuckle

good morning all hope weekend is going well

ComeOVeneer · 01/06/2008 11:45

Morning all hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. Still haven't had a chance to catch up on all the news. Was it dd's birthday yesterday, sfx? If so "happy birthday"!

Well we ventured to Legoland yesterday, as promised to the children if they behaved for grandparents in our absence. It was horrendous! DD coped pretty well with the queues (over an hour at some attractions) but ds (unsurprisingly given he is only 3) was bored out of his mind so played up. We all got home exhausted (ds fell asleep in the car 6.15PM never woke when we got home and put him to bed only to wake at 9am).

Today I was hoping for sun so we could get the paddling pool out and have a relaxing garden day, whilst also getting everything ready for return to school/nursery (once again have had to purchase and label new shoes, trainers and ballet shoes), but the weather has let me down.

DH is out playing golf, I am hiding in the study for 5 mins whilst the children seem to be playing nicely (the lack of sreaming/crying etc is always a good sign ).

Anyway where are we in terms of the next meet-up? I don't seem to have had time to catch up with any of you for months!
