I so wanted to post on the other thread but it's full up - you lot don't half chat don't you

Ah Suhsi so sorry about your cat - tell your dh that he can't blame himself. Everyone dies of something and all the medicine in the world wasn't going to make your cat a different cat which from what you've told me is what would have been needed to save him.

We've had a dog and a cat die from things which we wondered if we'd done things differently we could have saved but we probably couldn't. Whats important is that you gave him a kind and loving home almost all his life and kept him going when other families might have given up.

stepfordwife · 01/07/2008 14:57

my manhattan-style loft working space needs some air con...

SJ99 · 01/07/2008 15:53

yes it's certainly hot today.

Sushi - so sorry to hear about your loss

ComeOVeneer · 01/07/2008 17:25

Sushi, sorry to hear of your loss. Especially hard when you are already more emotional due to anniversary of your father's passing. Our cats are quite young in comparison (only 8) but are soo much a part of the family I can't imagine them not being here.

I have Ils coming up for the weekend so have spent the day cleaning house from top to bottom and taking advantage of the fab weather to wash all bedding, cushion covers from sofas etc. I need to come up with some inspiration for my FIL's birthday cake too.

We are taking him to Sandown for his birthday on Saturday (unfortunately the forecast isn't to good)

I have another commission - a friend of dd's parents are getting married in October and have asked me to make their cake

Paddle glad you and dd had a fab time

Steppie, I sympathise with the loft heat - our bedroom is effectively in the loft (although house was never built with one) and it is seriously hot up there. Fortunately we are end of terrace so have a side window, as the 3 velux windows seem to attract curious birds if left open during the night - I am terrified of one hopping in then panicking and bouncing of the walls.

sfxmum · 01/07/2008 17:32

hello all

sushi very sorry for your loss

fab weather spent ages at Kew mostly in quiet shady out of the way places

Once again Mellow sorry for dd's horrid behaviour seriously bratish

can't think what to cook for dinner just the thought of going into the kitchen makes me feel ill

MrsRecycle · 01/07/2008 17:52

welcome back paddle - glad you had a lovely dirty weekend away. See you worried about dd and now you don't want to miss her for just one day. glad h made it as well.

KC - loved your summation.

Steppie - my loft has aircon but no boards on which to sit in it (the aircon machine is in the loft!). Hope you've cooled down - one advantage of working here is the aircon though I'd much rather be outside.

sushi - sorry to hear about your cat.

sj - house move sounds like a good plan. never a good idea to move/renovate before/after baby - just ask bunyan.

COV - we've taken ILs to Sandown before (on the same Saturday) it's their 40th Anniversary this weekend. Beware if it rains, it gets very crowded inside. If you can book a table in the restaurant I would do that. My ILs are coming to stay next week but if they expect me to clean the house from top to bottom, they can do it themselves, actually they probably will knowing them (they're going to take the stress of childcare/running a house off me for a couple of days).

slng will text you the number.

dh has just picked up dds from After School club and he found them in the kitchen washing up. why can't they do that at home. Actually tbh they have been ok helping out recently.

right off home to fight my way home on the M25 (only 23 more nights of this yipeeee).

Hello all.

Sushi - sorry to hear you are sad

MrsR - TIA

sfx - I have to confess all I feel is relief when I hear that other children also periodically indulge in - dare I say it - childish behaviour. Phew! Nothing wrong with mine then. Actually, kids behaved remarkably well today. It's just me who lets everything get on my nerves ...

We had lovely picnic at another park round the corner. Supposed to be having another picnic in another park on Friday. Conclusion: we have lots of parks nearby. Hurrah.

Must go and cook seafood tom yum noodles for tea. Hopefully that jar of tom yum paste is not empty ...

fitfox · 01/07/2008 20:29

Well I am back - glad you all missed me (apart from Kew who didn't notice I'd gone! )

Sushi - so sorry to hear about your cat - poor you

Steppy/Kew - I watched your LOs win the toddler race today at the school sports day (they were obviously with CM!)

Kew - I have DDs birthday party on 12th and have to collect DS from as party at about 7pm. However, I have always wanted to go to that Pensford picnic - it looks great!

Paddle - !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MrsR - at the knife incident. Has he been watching too much breakfast TV?

Well, we had a mixed weekend - weather was great, location fab, facilities good and Broxham is sooo beautiful. The kids loved crab fishing and we survived on fish and chips, cold beer (me) and ice cream for 3 days. The BEST fish and chips in the world.
They had a great swimming pool!

There were times however, I was tempted to terminate DH !!!

DD has learnt a new work "Fagina"!! As inj "I have a Fagina" (cue squeals of laughter from DS1 who has obviously taught her this word for pure entertainment!)

I have spent all day at the kids sports day so am nice and pink freckly!

fitfox · 01/07/2008 20:30

OK here is the spell checked version:

I did notice you were gone foxie - but not much comic effect in "Foxie isn;t here". I come on here to boast about DS coming second in the toddlers race and you got there before me - do I guess that steppies DD was first? Man, that girl is fast. Suspect some serious compteition between the two of them hence the one two - was there a stewards enquiry - perhaps I should demand one...

fitfox · 01/07/2008 20:42

Kew!!

How about "Foxie has gone to Devon to murder her DH"?

Now that's quite amusing isn't it?

Kewcumber · 01/07/2008 21:36

yes but I didn;t know you'd gone to Devon to murder him (Is that like the Famous Five stories "Five go Killing" - they're generally bucolic aren;t they)

fitfox · 01/07/2008 22:27

Yes it sounds fun doesn't it?

What does "bucolic" mean? Is it something to do with the plague? Or stomaches?

slng · 02/07/2008 07:37

Morning. I'm here because kids are behaving like cavemen and I told them I didn't want to eat breakfast with them.

(Actually they sound all peaceful now... )

"bucolic" means something to do with the countryside, doesn't it? It's one word that sounds exactly NOT like what it is.

MrsRecycle · 02/07/2008 07:43

sfx just wanted to wish you lots of love for today - hope all goes well.

Foxie - welcome back, you were missed, its just I never got a chance to post - work seemed to interupt me all the time. Sounds like you had a lovely time apart from dh - shall I send ds round to carry out the dirty deed for you

off to get dd2 up and ready for school. talk later.

OP posts:
slng · 02/07/2008 08:25

DS2 screamed all the way to nursery (only interrupted by sit-down protests) and we got stared at by all and sundry. I have a terrible headache. I need a holiday.

bunyanvillas · 02/07/2008 08:28

SFX good luck with your appointment, thinking of you. Hope everyone else well. Sorry again bit hectic here so not managing to stay on track with this thread!

stepfordwife · 02/07/2008 08:35

stepfordwife · 02/07/2008 08:36

slng · 02/07/2008 08:44

sfx - Is it today? hope all goes well!

mellow2 · 02/07/2008 08:54

Sushi,
So sorry for your loss. I know how much your dh and you cared about the cat.

Sfx,
Thinking of you today. Hope it will go well.

Foxie and Paddle,
Welcome back.

Congratulations to the little ones who did well in the races.
