Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

oh god, yes, that shivering and cold feeling whle you've got a fever is a weird one. isn't it something to do with shivering helps raise your temperature to fight infection?..
might be remembered innaccurately nonsense, tho..

kew, bet your mum was and . can just imagine ds thinking it was rather exciting having a police officer clamber into the car..

well, have just sent something in 2 days ahead of my deadline..
just waiting for the phone call to ask if i'm feeling all right

have just got dry, nearly time to get wet again. ho-hum..

SJ99 · 30/04/2008 15:32

Steppie - I think you're right re: fever, the body's way of fighting infection. Well done on beating your deadline!

Sushi - any update on DS? It is horrible when they're that ill and there is not much you can do

QC - DS must've loved the police arriving, your poor mum though. Is DS any better?

Sfx - have you made it out yet?

Kidzone was great fun, met some friends there and DS ended up staying for lunch (meant no cooking for me!), surprisingly it wasn't packed - always a bonus

Ros - have sent you an email

SJ99 · 30/04/2008 15:40

Now that the sun is out, might make a quick dash to the shops, need to get some stuff to make apricot flapjacks, mmm

mellow2 · 30/04/2008 15:44

Sushi,
I hope ds' temperature has gone down now.

Steppie,
It's a great feeling, isn't it when you get work stuff done ahead of time. It makes me feel like I'm almost in control of my life again. Sadly, it doesn't happen very often for me.

Kewcumber · 30/04/2008 20:49

DS is a bit better but as grumpy as hell - I'm aving such a problme getting him to sleep the past couple of days. And my toe still fecking hurts (excuse language)

SushiMummy · 30/04/2008 21:06

Evening all.

Steppie - sounds like you are having a v productive week. Well done!

QC - for your mum. Bet Gherkin-kun enjoyed all the action. Is he fully recovered? How's your foot?

sfx/SJ - you are making me v hungry. Give me some!

And thanks all for your well wishes. Nanny said he's been really subdued all day, not doing much other than sitting on the sofa watching cbeebies. Think he's got the worst case of CP. Some of the spots become infected (yellow and smelly) and he's got some in his mouth, too. I might take him to a doc to see if he needs ABs tomorrow. As for the temparature, it's still high, well over 39.

bunyanvillas · 30/04/2008 21:19

Oh dear Sushi, I hope ds starts to turn a corner soon, how horrid for him. SJ, let me know if you want to meet at Kidzone one day - I live really nearby!! And you can pop to mine for a cuppa before/afterwards. Kew, how long did it take for the police to arrive? When I managed to lock dd in the car a couple of months ago I rang the RAC and they came within 15 mins. In the meantime I was ready to smash the window in if dd got really upset. Luckily she stayed pretty calm, there was a bit of shouting at the end and it transpired that this was due to the fact that she had dropped here "night garden" book in the footwell! SFX, plan to try the beanburgers this weekend, have just put my shopping order in. Am also planning to make muffins containing oats and apricots (does this make them healthy?). Yes, Mothercare is a great place to play

sfxmum · 30/04/2008 21:20

hello all

sushi poor little one those things are nasty is he getting calamine lotion on the spots, afaik is the best thing for it.

KC hope ds keeps improving, what excitement, next time fire brigade please.
ouch on the toe

SJ I did make it out briefly thanks

steppie well done 2 whole days

the plan is to go vote tomorrow come rain or come shine (fat chance) and hopefully a longer walk
I do so hope it will not be raining at the time I can go runing

it is dh's birthday next Tuesday and he asked me to bake this
I really need more running days

bunyanvillas · 30/04/2008 21:23

Sorry - Kew - meant to say, the RAC guy managed to unlock the car for me using a stick with a magnet (it was scarily easy!) thus negating the need to smash a window. Useful to know but of course it all depends on how busy they are ... luckily in my case there was someone in the area.

bunyanvillas · 30/04/2008 21:25

Oooh SFX I could just eat a massive slab of that now Thanks for your email, by the way, it was really nice and cheered me up

sfxmum · 30/04/2008 21:30

My pleasure but I guess you'd rather have cake
honestly I have host to some sort of tea party at some point just as an excuse to bake cake and would probably have to get some decent tea too

I have a tutorial tomorrow but am not very prepared

sfxmum · 30/04/2008 21:32

to host

oh btw dd learnt a Portuguese lullaby over the last couple of days, it is really funny to hear her sing it, with her funny little English accent

Kewcumber · 30/04/2008 22:20

susi - pox advice

SushiMummy · 30/04/2008 22:23

thanks, qc. might get lactocalamine tomorrow. Am I allowed to go out with a spotty child?

BTW, I have added a picture of DS but he looks much worse than the picture, really.

fitfox · 30/04/2008 22:29

Who said "cake"?
...yes pleeeeze

If it rains tomorrow we may well wake up in Boris Land on Friday as Labour voters are notorious for not getting out to vote in rainy weather!!

Sushi - Poor DS - Irecall DD's spots became infected and the GP gave her Fucidin AB cream - worked a treat. Poor mite! Hopefuly he won't get it again though, as he has had it so bad this time.

QC - [hugs] to your toe and your lovely DS - hope he is on the mend now. Are any of your staff still talking to you?

Steppy you made me LOL at your comment that it is moe stressful listening to DH getting the DCs out of the house for school than doing it yourself !!! IKWYM!!!!

Please stop talking about food BTW you lot!!

st had a fabby swimming lesson - really good fun and a nice swim afterwards

Got the kids summer sandals today - ery hard finding sandals the school will accept. Girls have to be black or white (easy to find white but I wanted Birkenstoocks) Boys have to be black - managed to get DS1 some Geos inan extremely dark grey (complete with free game which impressed DS1).

We have to get his hair cut tomorrow as Headteacher says its too long!!! I can feel a short back and sides coming on..how did your visit go Steppy?

fitfox · 30/04/2008 22:34

Sushi you need more than Lactocalamine for spots once they get infected - hard drugs are in order, so they don't end up scarring. You should take him to GP tomorrow! [ever so bossy emoticon]

Paddlechick666 · 01/05/2008 03:23

hello from Utah!
work trip going pretty well and very interesting. Went up the mountain today and there was a fantastic snow blizzard. Wifi access is hard to come by tho. Missing dd
like crazy.
Sorry to hear about poorly little ones. Hope on the mend soon.
I leave early fri morning and get back sat morning. It's a hellish journey. Think I'm over the jet lag tonight, just in time to cop it coming back!
anyone around Sunday?

rosmerta · 01/05/2008 08:55

Hi everyone,

Sj, that sounds good for this afternoon. I'll get some tea ready . Anyone else like to join ds & minisj for a play this afternoon at mine?

Sushi, poor ds, hope he feels better soon.

Sfx, thanks for the cookie recipe, will give that a go tomorrow!

Am not sure what to do this morning, Kew or Lollipop? Not sure if its going to rain so am thinking of risking Kew as ds really needs a good runaround after being stuck indoors or in the pushchair last couple of days.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 01/05/2008 09:06

Awwwww - poor sushi-kun. He looks very sorry for himself and I don't blame him one bit. Agree with Foxie - if his spots are infected get him to doctor asap.

Foxie - yes all the staff are still talking to me because due to stupid rules on how you have to carry out redundancies now you have to torment the staff for weeks of consutlations before you can tell individuals they are being made redundant . So they're all talking to me (just in case it makes a different!). We say which departments are in line for cuts on Tuesday next week and meet every individual in those depts to ask if they have any ideas about how to stop themselves becoming redundant (crazy rules). Then about a week before telling exactly who goes.

Bonkers.

sfxmum · 01/05/2008 09:06

good morning all

Hi paddle

hope everyone ok this morning

am a bit foggy headed today so at some point will shamble off to polling station the I hope over to Kew, dd really needs to run around

Kewcumber · 01/05/2008 09:06

off to IOW tomorrow am - byugger me I need the break aay from work.

rosmerta · 01/05/2008 09:09

Kew, sounds awful. Does it make any difference at all or do you already know?

Hmm, must go vote today as well. Still undecided, don't want Boris, Ken or Brian so guess that leaves me the Greens . Think I'll take ds along to see democracy in action. There's an idea, perhaps I'll let him decide

OP posts:
sfxmum · 01/05/2008 09:10

KC I expect you already know who goes? it is insane and cruel

sushi poor baby, hard drugs now it seems

Ros they are yummy very crumbly

Kewcumber · 01/05/2008 09:10

can't tell you whether the decision is already made Ros or I might have to shoot you.

Kewcumber · 01/05/2008 09:13

Ros - if you're going to vote green (who obviously won;t get in) then your second vote becomes tactically important. If you really don;t want any of the candidates - why are you voting? Sorry I don't often say that (big fan of exercising your franchise)
