Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

sing, of course,..
as you say, best way to recreate office life, eh?
dear god, people don't actually - shudder - talk to each other any more, do they?
of course when dh ignores me, as is his wont, i do it the old-fashioned way...screech downstairs..
(oh and i am tucked away in the loft, btw, like the mad auntie)

bunyan...liking your use of the baby monitor

stepfordwife · 29/04/2008 15:25

..more cookies please, sfx

SJ99 · 29/04/2008 15:26

Hello all

Sympathies QC - tough time at work and at home, these things are sent to test us as they say.

Bunyan - please don't feel guilty at FF, we all do the best we can and we do what works, main thing is that you're both well.

Slng - your 2 make my little picasso look tame, yesrtday he painted his face green a la incredible hulk and his tongue blue the minute my back was turned

Steppie - LOL at lunch order email

We're having survey done on house today, see what that churns up

Sfx - more cookies pls?!

SJ99 · 29/04/2008 15:28

Lots of hungry tums today

SushiMummy · 29/04/2008 15:30

Bunyan - know how you feel re bf/ff. I was the same, couldn't bf as much as I wanted to. I still feel a tad guilty to this day but as you said, your DS is doing fine and that's most important. MN is not always helpful for those who's tried but couldn't, iyswim.

sfxmum · 29/04/2008 16:04

dh just said 'please get rid of the cookies before I get home I am on a diet' the had more than half the loaf of bread I baked yesterday

SJ hope the survey goes well

steppie - mad woman in the attic? are you writing your book yet?

rosmerta · 29/04/2008 16:42

hi all,

Kew, hope ds gets better & work not too stressful considering.

Bunyan - know exactly how you feel re ff. I had to ff ds when he just refused to bf and I felt incredibly guilty to start with but at the end of the day he was a much happier baby & I was more relaxed. As steppie said, you have to do what's best for both of you.

I really must get some good cookie recipes . And figure out my oven's temp better!

Sj, replied to your email. Good luck with the survey.

Is the Kew Fair on this weekend then?

Weather forecast is fab for Saturday

SJ99 · 29/04/2008 20:01

I like your forecast Foxie - BBC says rain for Sat
No idea about the fair, sorry.

Ros - thanks for reply, hope my friend will find it useful.

KC - finally uploaded pics on FB

SushiMummy · 29/04/2008 20:26

SJ - good luck with the survey.

Steppie - lol at mad auntie in the attic.

ros and sfx - hope your study going well.

foxie - can't find any info on Kew Fair. There's one in Sept... Not that we can go with DS full of CP.

Speaking of CP, DS is completely covered in spots, poor thing. I stopped counting (am a bit obsessed) but it's in hundreds. When do they stop appearing? Some spots are really horribe, dark red and big. Really hope he won't get any scars like I did.

Have a nice evening all.

slng · 29/04/2008 20:59

sfx - have you been to see the bluebells in Kew?

sushi - poor DS! Hang in there - I think spots are supposed to stop appearing in 2-4 days, and then it'll get better.

I'm watching how to look good naked. Why?? Best go and do the washing up.

sfxmum · 29/04/2008 22:08

slng - not yet been to bluebells and am starting to fear it will be too late, last time I was there we could only see a few scattered here and there but it has been a while

sushi poor little one chances are he will be fine.

foxie so where is that forecast? all I see is rain rain rain

dd asked me to do something today (some arty crafty thing) and I lazily said I didn't really know how to do it

  • 'well mummy you must ask a grown up then'
I have been found out and put in my place!
mellow2 · 29/04/2008 23:20

sfx,
at mini-sfx's remark
She's funny

slng · 30/04/2008 08:40

sfx - I've got my Kew pass now so am planning a trip to see bluebells one afternoon, as soon as it stops raining, which looks like the next millenium. Perhaps we should move to where foxie lives where the forecast is better ...

Bunyan - I remember struggling with bf in the early days and people tried to be supportive and said it's OK to ff and I got really upset because they were saying that what I was struggling with was not worth struggling for! Then I heard people say you must bf and got really upset (that's when bf went really well) because they were telling me what to do! And then when I stopped bf I felt really guilty because I was "wasting" all this resource! There's just no winning, is there? But as you said at the end of the day it's ds's wellbeing and yours that's important.

SJ99 · 30/04/2008 08:57

Slng - went to see the bluebells a few weeks back (in the days of sunshine) and they were lovely. Hope weather improves in time for you to go.

Was going to Kew today but as it's so wet, think I'll head to Kidzone later this morning if anyone fancies it.

Sushi - hope DS gets better soon, at least nanny is working out so one less thing to worry about.

LOL at minisfx I got put in my place too the other night. I was readinag book with DS and showed him a picture of a girl milking a cow and told him that his milk comes from a cow. He looked at me as I were stupid and declared that milk came from a cup

sfxmum · 30/04/2008 09:10

good morning all

not sure what to do today I expect lollipop will be full but will at least do local shops I think. Mothercare is a good place to play

slng - maybe tomorrow will be ok I love that walk by Queen C's cottage

sushi/KC hope little ones are starting to feel better

SJ what/ where is Kidzone? I am sure you have told me before but I forget.

I am seriously feeling cabin fever, not been running since Sunday and am all restless but not too keen on doing it n the rain, the glasses get all wet etc. but one more morning like this and I will not care.

SJ99 · 30/04/2008 09:17

here it is

I tried it a few wks back and it was good, similar to Lollipop but smaller.

Might do Kew tomorrow also, weather dependant....

sfxmum · 30/04/2008 09:41

thanks SJ it is a bit out of the way for us

blasted weather was looking at pictures from this time last year and it is all bright sunshine and short sleeve Ts

SushiMummy · 30/04/2008 11:03

Things got worse last night, DS's temparature surged to 40.7 at one point so we called NHS direct for advice. His spots are much worse, you can count at least 50 on his face alone. He is scraching like mad, poor little thing.

He was v clingy this morning but the nanny assured me she would call me if anything happens.

Kewcumber · 30/04/2008 11:44

Are you doing the alternating nurofen/paracetmol thing - have lots of experience of this at the moment! Give max dose of one followed three hours later by max dose of the other - stick to three hourly intervals religiously even at night if you can as it stops their temp getting too out of control.

Usual advice about light clothing open windows and warm baths (not cool) - NHS probably gave you.

SushiMummy · 30/04/2008 12:50

Thanks, QC. Yes, he's on Nurofen/Calpol/Piriton. Surprisingly, DS was feeling cold and wanted to put more clothes/blanket on although he was shaking like a leaf.

SushiMummy · 30/04/2008 12:52

sorry that's when his temps over 40.

stepfordwife · 30/04/2008 13:25

hi everyone

sushi, poor ds. he's obviously got a "good" dose of them. how's his temperature doing now? hopefully he should start feeloing better - albeit very itchy - in the next few days.

sj..LOL 'milk comes from a cup, mummy." bit like dd's response to milk comikng from a cow. "don't be silly, mummy, milk comes from sainsbury's."
it's the slightly pitying look they give you that gets me

sfx..hmm, cabin fever indeed. yes, i don't know how to do most things dd asks of me .
am fed-up with getting drenched every school drop-off and pick-up now. have boked haircuts for little fellas after school so that will spark protest..

mind you, ds2 enjoys looking at himself in a mirror and practising his flirting skills with our pretty aussie hairdresser. (quite good for a 6-year-old, actually).
meanwhile all ds1 is interested in is what are favourite dinosaurs are.

have been to dentist this morning, so that's my "me time" done and dusted for this week
keep dry everyone
toodlepip

sfxmum · 30/04/2008 13:34

sushi - how is ds doing now? it is quite hard to watch them when they are poorly and there is not much one can do.
about the hot/cold on the rare occasions I have had very high temp it is always like that I feel very cold and shiver and then sweat it out when it starts coming down.

SJ makes me think dd needs to visit more farms, we often talk about where things come from but she is not very convinced without actually seeing it - that is actually quite good knowledge should really be evidence based.

Kewcumber · 30/04/2008 13:56

yes DS wanted a blanket this week despite being so hot you could have fried eggs on him. Having recently had somethign similar myself I think you should let them have the blanket - that shivery phase passes reasonably quickly and you can whip it all bakc off again.

Mu mum locked DS in the car again lunchtime (you'd think she's learn!) but he was strapped in car seat so couldn't open the door. Had to get police out who smashed the back window and climbed in. DS was milified by the attendance of police car apparently.
