Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

SushiMummy · 28/04/2008 08:57

Thanks, Athene. Hope this nanny is lovely.

SushiMummy · 28/04/2008 09:01

BTW, DS is feverish, not much appetite, with more spots appearing all over the body so I'm positive it's CP.

mellow2 · 28/04/2008 09:18

HI Sushi,
I hope the nanny is nice and ds gets better soon. We wouldn't mind coming round for a CP party when he's feeling better.

SushiMummy · 28/04/2008 09:20

Mellow, thanks. Still waiting for the nanny to arrive.

I'm taking the Friday off (poss. Thur, as well) so if you want to come around, please feel free.

slng · 28/04/2008 09:23

sushi - ds1 had cp just before ds2 was born, but he got through it without much trouble at all, so hope ds will be OK too. It was me who was pissed off because I started my maternity leave for ds2 but couldn't go anywhere!

ComeOVeneer · 28/04/2008 09:56

Well, my foot is sore, had to wear flipflops this morning as too tender to have a proper shoe on it. Have a day of housework ahead of me, kids took out virtually every toy they own yesterday and I just didn't heave the energy to fight with them to clean up last night. DS had a nightmare at 3am and came into my bed, and basically didn't go back to sleep so I am a zombie.

Neither of my children have had CP, there was a case going around ds's nursery a few weeks ago but he didn't catch it, and dd is vaccinated against it (had to have it to go to nursery in Chicago) but it only lasts 5-10 years so she stands a chance of getting it later in life, which isn't great.

SJ99 · 28/04/2008 10:10

Morning all

Ouch for all the sore feet. I have to say I've never had CP and am DREADING catching it off DS if hegets it as I heard it's much worse to have as an adult. I didn't realise you could get a CP vaccination, will look into that, useful to know.

Sushi - hope nanny works out, might pass on Fri play date

Might mooch around today, lots of errands to do. DS also up last night (and therefore I was too) for an hr due to stupid neighbour girl jumping on bed.

mellow2 · 28/04/2008 10:35

Yes, sushi. We can come round on Friday. I'll check again with you later in the week.

sfxmum · 28/04/2008 12:10

sushi - I hope the nanny works out well and ds recovers quickly

cov that sounds painful but so hard to rest feet properly

we went out to the park / playground in bright sunshine then run home in the rain, it is bright again, but at least we had some fresh air.

my laptop's internet connection is playing up which is just as well as I do need to clear up and bake bread, not to mention catch up with study after the lazy weekend.

hope everyone else is well today

Kewcumber · 28/04/2008 12:13

poor DS is sick - my long suffering mother has picked him up from CM and is taking hm to doctors this afternoon.

I like working but some days (like today) when I can't even get away to go to the doctor with him, it feels like shit. And my toe bloody hurts.

MrsRecycle · 28/04/2008 12:54

Found you!

No no KC can't believe he's ill again, poor thing. And your toe as well.. You are both in the wars.

ds has had a cough/cold the past week but CM always has him. But we are lucky in that she only minds him so likes to give him lots of cuddles when he is ill.

Sushi sorry to hear about ds and CP outbreak - I remember when my dds got it, one after the other (not at the sametime) and I was working in Greece at the time, and dh was working as a driver. He ended up having to take them to work with him. Looked very strange turning up at clients with a spotty girl for 6 weeks.

pc - sorry to hear you didn't get a good night's sleep last night. TBH whenever I travel it can be the quietest place around and I still don't sleep. It takes me a couple of days to adjust to a new bed. I'll have a drink for you though, if you want..

sj - I've had shingles and it was awful, had 6 weeks paid leave off work (which was the only nice part).

COV - sorry to hear about your foot as well. Any excuse not to do the housework I say. Sorry to hear ds is still unsettled at night.

Had a lovely weekend at the caravan - got back late last night. Went for another walk on the beach yesterday (no rain there!). Mind you a bit stressful as dh was working so all on my own. The worst part is ds who (in dd2's description) is now a "The Destroyer".

Kewcumber · 28/04/2008 20:33

OK wo said tey knew a good plumber? Was it Mellow? Have taken old washing macine out to find that waste disposal unit is plumbed in in front of dishwasher fitting and needs to be removed before you can change over .

Had all company meeting today to tell staff that a major (financial services) client is substantially cutting their budgets and we are therefore planning to make 20% of the company redundant.

sfxmum · 28/04/2008 20:45

well back from the wilderness and seems you lot have been quiet - thanks

sorry KC about work and domestic troubles
does ds have CP too?

can't help with plumber I'm afraid

thunder and lightning just as dd fell asleep

SushiMummy · 28/04/2008 21:10

Evening all.

QC - sorry no help re plumber. Hope you get it sorted soon. Sounds like a bogus job? How did the people react to the news? How's Gherkin-kun?

MrsR - glad you had a lovely break at the seaside. Sounds lovely there.

The nanny seems v nice and knows what she's doing (19 years of childcare experience!) and DS likes her - so far so good. More spots appearing (when do they stop?), it's about 30-40 spots and he's got one on his scalp, too. Still feverish but eating OK-ish. I'm taking Thursday and Friday off.

mellow2 · 28/04/2008 21:13

Hi QC,

I'll dig out the name of the plumber for you.

fitfox · 28/04/2008 21:16

Hiya

Took DS2 to a work meeting today - he was quite lively!!!

bunyanvillas · 28/04/2008 21:22

QC - sorry your ds is poorly, hope he's feeling better soon. And sorry about work and the plumbing Hope things pick up soon. Cov, hope your foot is better soon. And hope everyone else is bearing up! Sorry for short missive, bed is calling me, had forgotten how shattering this newborn lark is

ComeOVeneer · 28/04/2008 21:25

Pleased the nanny seems to be working out sushi. Hope ds makes a speedy recovery. Am so tired after ds's lack of sleep last night. He has only jus falled asleep about 5 mins ago after coming in and out of the room, (he has mastered the stairgate across his doorway)

fitfox · 28/04/2008 21:27

Bunyan [hugs]to you and your yummy newborn !!

slng · 28/04/2008 21:49

Hello all!

I've uploaded a photo of two monsters, for a limited time only!

I'm taking them to work tomorrow... I think I shall have nightmares about it tonight.

sfxmum · 28/04/2008 22:04

was ds2 ds1's art project?

slng · 29/04/2008 08:22

ds1 claimed he had nothing to do with it. I think the face was ds2's own work, but the hair, which took 3 washes to get clean, I suspect, was "helped"...

stepfordwife · 29/04/2008 08:43

sing
what's 3 hair washes against the value of such creative flair, eh?

kew, how's ds today? how did the staff take it?

sushi, better for them get a good dose of CP as if they get it mildly could get it again. is he feeling OK?

foxie, well done for taking ds into work. i've always found it's quite a good distraction technique - people are so busy cooing over offspring they forget to get down to business!

our chap has got back tyo us at last with builders' drawings. from being bad cop[ i've now switched to good cop (got fed-up with being baddie..dh's turn ) and have just written soothing, 'let's all move forward now" email...(is that strains of hippy-dippy music i can hear?..)

ooops, better bid farewell to the brood..(even more stressful listening to dh doing school run than doing it myself )
have a good day, all
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 29/04/2008 08:52

and hi bunyan
how's the feeding going?

sfxmum · 29/04/2008 09:13

good morning al

slng it is a great pic anyway, the joy of siblings

bunyan - how are you 4 getting on now? I expect it is still land of the living dead for mum, but it does get better (doesn't it?)
dd just looks like a giant next to ds - so cute

cov - hope your ds's sleep is getting better.

kew/sushi - how are the poorly LO's?

dd heard us talking about it last night and is now claiming to have CP

and why was it horrible and wet at the only time I could go out on my own? I went back to bed in protest until 8.30 and dh had to leave for work it was a restful protest
