Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

Morning all.

Hope everyone is well.

Update: Looks like CP is full on now. DS is covered in spots, some look really nasty and it's all over his body. His temperature has been high, 38.9 this morning, cue calpol. The nanny arrived on time (but the tube was delayed ). I felt terrible leaving him behind this morning.

SushiMummy · 29/04/2008 09:43

Slgn - nice pictures. What are you pointing at, btw?

Kewcumber · 29/04/2008 09:44

DS had marginally better night last night - woke up twice but did go back to sleep. Doctor says "virus" (quelle surprise).

Don't think the staff had a good night either - very subdued here this morning. I have to work on the agreemetn for a fellow director who will be leaving - I've done this kind of thing before and it never gets any easier.

I'm so hoping that DS is OK for our IOW trip next weekend - am desparate for a break.

Kewcumber · 29/04/2008 09:46

Sushi - its horrible leaving them when they're sick isn't it. Its one of the few times I really hate working. Its why I particularly hate those threads which talk about women who work "dumping" their sick child and swanning off to work and how unreasonable it is - it never feels like that to me.

sfxmum · 29/04/2008 09:51

Sushi - the spots always look nasty at this stage poor poppet, but it seems to be peaking
then the recovery starts

KC - a virus hey? must be med code.
about work, only twice did I have to let staff go based on appraisals at the end of the probation period, not the same and certainly not on the same scale but it sucked.
much sympathy to you

SushiMummy · 29/04/2008 10:09

QC - yes, it's horrible. DS waved at me by the window and he looked really sad and I cried to the station. DH is hoping to take this afternoon off.

It must be a really awful situation at your work, QC. Hope they can find work relatively easily. I know a handful of friends being made redundant last few months due to subprime problems.

slng · 29/04/2008 10:12

Much sympathy to all viralled-up dc.

When ds2 had his non-specific viral infection the GP thought he had measles ("Did he have the MMR? No? The single jab!!?? Oh NO they are not very effective. What a BAD mother you are to choose that over the government recommendation. MUST be measles then. First case of measles I've seen in 30 years. This is all YOUR fault you precious middle-class paranoid working mother. I'll have to notify the health protection agency." Well, HPA sent saliva kit and it WAS NOT measles. Rant over. Sorry I had to get that out of my system... )

mellow2 · 29/04/2008 10:31

Sorry to hear of all the illnesses. It is hard to leave little ones when they're sick.

QC,
I texted you the plumber's details. I had to ring the shop I bought my dishwasher from for his number as I didn't have them anymore.

Lausy · 29/04/2008 10:49

Hi all,

Mad few days, no chance to catch up and my mom is on her way over for the rest of the week so may not get much of a chance to chat. I hope you're all well and I'll try and catch up soon xx

stepfordwife · 29/04/2008 11:31

sushi and kew , yes, you just feel so guilty when you have to leave them when they're sick..it's that feeling of being constantly torn between your chid and work responsibilities - especially with the week you've got, kew.

sing, good rant

lausy..have a fab time with your mum
ho-hum, better do some work. have got an overwhelming urge to go to the cinema
will resist as dh working from home, too, and will think that's what i do all the time

stepfordwife · 29/04/2008 12:15

raining enough for everyone?

sfxmum · 29/04/2008 12:26

my parenting today - mummy studying dd playing games on laptop

the thing once you become a mother you are forever wrong wrong wrong

sfxmum · 29/04/2008 12:26

steppie are you responsible for this weather?

stepfordwife · 29/04/2008 12:34

didn't know i had that power eh, sfx?
sadly not..or i'd make it stop...
now get back to watching dd on that laptop

sfxmum · 29/04/2008 12:35

she is having lunch am I am peeking at my emails

slng · 29/04/2008 12:47

Off to get the kids and then to work! I've packed some ibuprofen for me and cookies for the kids. Is that the right balance?

bunyanvillas · 29/04/2008 14:07

QC, glad to hear ds "marginally better" - and I hope that he continues to improve. I think you are going to need a stiff drink tonight after all the stress you are having at the moment. Steppie, thanks for asking about the feeding. I am {{whisper}} formula feeding and have been almost too ashamed to mention it on here as I know that many of you have done long-term bf very successfully. Suffice to say, I have been through the mill and have been very upset. But not coming out the other side - ds needs food, no matter how he gets it - and he is doing very well and looking gorgeous I think we are all getting on very well - although I did try a speedy trip to Kew Retail Park for a few bits this morning when dd was at nursery. "Try" being the operative word - we had to make a speedy exit when ds kicked off royally and refused to stop! Mon dieu at the weather, huh? Anyone know what the forecast is for the Bank Hol weekend? Although I think we could all hazard a guess Saw the fair being set up on Kew Green today - it normally rains at fair time ...

sfxmum · 29/04/2008 14:38

bunyan not much point to us if you felt you could not say that glad you are all well.

baking cookies this afternoon I think

stepfordwife · 29/04/2008 14:39

hi bunyan..
sorry for your disappointment about the breastfeeding
but there's no need to feel embarrassed...you're doing what you think best for your ds. of course, breastfeeding is fab, but if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out.
all that matters is that your ds is doing well
enjoy him

oooh, had forgotten about kew fair. is it sat or sun? yes, rain a sure bet, eh?! think forecast is 'cloudy"

tsk, tsk just had to email dh downstairs to tell him he'd forgotten to make me lunch..
just can't get the staff

stepfordwife · 29/04/2008 14:40

..can you hear my rumbling tummy, sfx?

Kewcumber · 29/04/2008 14:48

thanks bunyan - no matter how stressful it is for me I bear in mind its more stressful for the staff who don't yet know who will be selected.

Sorry you are disappointed at not breast-feeding. If it makes any sense at all I was disappointed I couldn't too! I do my best to counter that in as many ways as I can and sleep easy at night as a result. A good bit of Rationalisation is good for soothing a guilty brow I find. Come sit in my corner and I can tell you how fantastically well DS did on Hipp Organic...

bunyanvillas · 29/04/2008 14:55

Kew - thank you Steppie - right there with you with regards to the staff. I tend to use the baby monitor to bark down coffee/tea/something stronger requests to dh in the kitchen. SFX - bung us a few virtual cookies, go on ...

sfxmum · 29/04/2008 15:01

oatmeal and raisin coming up

slng · 29/04/2008 15:01

Steppie - you email downstairs?? Reminds me of when I used to work in a small office and boss said to email about everything and not talk to each other, so we used to send email and then shout across room to notify the recipient ...

sfxmum · 29/04/2008 15:02

office life, the coffee and tea pots, the biscuits the diets the idiocy I suppose surrendering is liberating
