Other thread full, so hope you all find me

Sushi, sorry I don't know anyone but there is a nanny agency near Kew Bridge. Hope ds is ok, typical of them to get ill at exactly the wrong time, isn't it?!

Foxie, we've sent off our form so am hoping we get our first choice (Weymouth)!

Paddlechick666 · 22/05/2008 20:24

oooh i dunno ros, switch the brown sauce for red and i'd be there!

i've frozen the other chicken breast and will stir fry half the veggies with a pad thai i intend to cook on saturday night.

not sure there'll be much rose left tho!

so, the debate for tomorrow is this:

after viewing (yet) more houses, do i leave dd with the GPs and drive to MK for a night out with a bunch of other single parents?

ishoos are:

cost of hotel and actually not having anything to wear especially and also being quite intimidated by it all
and really should probably stay with GPs to discuss property plans.

OTOH, I am quite keen on a night in a hotel and a little keen on an actual evening out in an adult place

what to do? what to do?!

tomorrow will be crazy with work and having to prepare flat for viewings plus pack overnight bag. would be much easier not to have to bother with smart clothes etc....

Kewcumber · 22/05/2008 20:28

do what you will find relaxing Paddle - I think you've had a tough few months so be easy on yourself and go for the one that will make you feel better the following day would be my advice.

Paddlechick666 · 22/05/2008 20:37

lol kew, methinks a night out would not be making me physically better the morning after the night before

i am 60/40 on going at the moment tho....

need a kick up the bum and to get myself out of my current rut/existing mindset.

sfxmum · 22/05/2008 21:41

dd was surprisingly hard to get to sleep tonight, she blamed it on her doll not being sleepy and wanting to jump

paddle food sounds yum all the way to the plans for weekend
as for night out with single parents, is it all women?

Ros no plans for tomorrow as yet but will consider offer, never mind Heroes, but I think it will all depend on the weather.

tutorial went well and I have a plan, and am back on track.

we have been sprouting again quite enthusiastically so lots of stir fry type dishes coming up, could be worst

stepfordwife · 22/05/2008 22:15

paddle
go
drink
laugh
enjoy..

and if you don't tomorrow..
do that soon with us..
actually that would be even better

sfxmum · 22/05/2008 22:25

speaking of which have we started a June meet up thread yet?
so wish the weather could be good enough for an outdoor venue

fitfox · 23/05/2008 09:41

SFX you look nice in bunches!!

Come on Steppy you know youi want to try bunches

SLNG I am always making complaints about the receptionists at our GP - they are rude and unprofessional (so have clearly read the manual "How to be an obnoxious Doctor's receptionist") Have you ever wat6ched "Doctors" at 1.45pm in the week, BBC1. The receptionist in that is fairly typical: jumped up and power mongering...

Ros good luck with your scan

SJ - congrats - it is such a relief when the offer comes through isn't it? Sometimes they take weeks....

slng · 23/05/2008 09:48

Foxie - what are you doing watching TV at 1.45pm??? I generally have a nap around that time. Bet our receptionist is worse than yours - ours dispenses medical advice too. Does yours? Let's have a competition! I'm composing a letter of complaint containing words like "unsupportive", "contradicting government guidelines", "unhelpful", "obstructive", "antagonistic" and "public liability insurance". Any other long legal sounding words I can put in?

SJ99 · 23/05/2008 09:49

Morning all

PC - hope you make it to your night out, you can always make an excuse and leave early if you're not enjoying yourself. Yes, I did you use the mortgage bloke and he's been great

Ros - glad scan went well

Sfx - Have also been taping Hereos, need to catch up, probably this wkend while DH away

Well DS has absolutely no interest in potty today and v. defiantly said 'no want it!'. Will just leave it out and let him take the initiative, not going to push him.

sfxmum · 23/05/2008 09:58

good morning all
in the lax sfx household we are still having breakfast

foxie thanks for reminder to remove pic - how are you? and do you ever check your email?

slng have you drafted the letter of complaint yet?

SJ my telly set up is odd and I can't really tape anything and we can't have Sky+ much to my annoyance, there are a few things I like to watch but that are often very late and that would be useful.
maybe a dvd recorder thing

sfxmum · 23/05/2008 09:59

and SJ about Heroes I can barely watch it without cringing at the atrocious Irish accents and their insistence on using the word boyuo

rosmerta · 23/05/2008 10:01

sj, atm we just have lots of no nappy time and ds will sit on the potty if I don't say anything. But we also have lots of 'uh oh, floor wet, mummy'!

Paddle, agree with Kew, go for the night you'll feel better with afterwards!

We also need to start a book swap/return thread!

Just had a conversation with the recycling dept I never thought I'd have "hello, I think my dh threw out my pelvis, have you found it?". I was on hold for a while, do you think they were having a bit of a giggle?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 23/05/2008 10:04

Ros are you doing prank calls now? are you bored

rosmerta · 23/05/2008 10:05

I wish it had have been, its my very expensive pelvis model for teaching & dh thinks he may have thrown it into the recycling . Am off to thoroughly search the house just in case

OP posts:
sfxmum · 23/05/2008 10:10

oh no what did he think it was?
hope there are women working there otherwise extreme bafflement will prevail

slng · 23/05/2008 13:46

We've just been to possibly the best children's shoe shop in the known world! They've got train tracks to play with! And friendly shop assistants! And shoes. Of course. I've got my priorities right.

SJ99 · 23/05/2008 14:33

So where is it???

Ros - LOL at phone - must've sounded odd to the person on the other end

Sfx - IKWYM about the Irish accents

slng · 23/05/2008 14:40

Oops SJ - it's on Pitshanger Lane in Ealing and it's called Stepping Out. Shoes possibly pricier than Clarks, but perhaps worth it! I'm not one who goes for "shopping experience" but Clarks sometimes just takes the biscuit.

sfxmum · 23/05/2008 14:47

If I remember correctly Pitshanger had a ballet shop with all things pink and fluffy including ballet classes.
dh informs me there is one in Sheen too dd seems to like it

I have been cutting her fringe but I think she might need a professional before pictures are taken any recommendations nearby? foxie? steppie?

SJ99 · 23/05/2008 14:49

Slng - great that you've found a shop that you like, makes all the difference.

Speaking of shopping, does anyone know what time the shops at Kew Retail open on Sunday?

Sfx - glad tutorial went well. The hairdresser DS goes to in Twix is fab with kids but maybe a bit far for you

sfxmum · 23/05/2008 14:56

kew retail open 11-5 on sunday

yes regarding tutorial am glad I had a push. will keep hair place in mind.

still need to find carpet cleaner people

SJ99 · 23/05/2008 16:09

Thanks. Hair place is called Chop Chop on high st. Can't help with carpet cleaners I'm afriad. We have more veiwers coming round soon so definitely nappies on while they're about

SushiMummy · 24/05/2008 02:59

Greetings from Tokyo!

Hope you are all well.

Well, the meetings went really well, saw about 50 people in two days so feeling a tad exhausted.

It's nice to be back in Japan but I miss DS soooo very much and can't wait to see him.

Things are so different here, so many people everywhere yet it's bizzarrly(sp?) in control/order.

Bought loads of stuff as shops are open till quite late and got most of things you wanted, QC, mellow and SJ!

Hope to see you all soon.

mellow2 · 24/05/2008 06:28

hi sushi,

I recommended some restaurants on the day u left. I'll post again if u can't find my post.

slng · 24/05/2008 07:52

Good morning!

Hello sushi! Is it quiet in Japan? I always find the surprising thing in London is that people are so quiet. In Malaysia if you put so many people so close together the noise would be (and often is) deafening.

We've already had a nice pancake breakfast (a miracle since we have two "helpers". "My turn my turn" etc). Is anywhere open yet?
