QC & sfx - if the bed matress has slightly raised side panel around it, this ebay product won't be good. My DS's bed is like that and most bedguards we looked at are designed for the matresses just sitting on the bed, iyswim.

QC - For Eton, wouldn't you have to register at birth?

sfxmum · 04/03/2008 12:24

and more to the point can we have a night out sometime soon? please
maybe just after Easter

Paddlechick666 · 04/03/2008 12:29

thanks sfx, am awaiting call back from sol as still don't actually know who my leaseholder is or who and how i pay my maintenance and ground rent to. also to find out how to proceed as seller didn't disclose neighbour issue and i am told the son dealt drugs, caused a misery for other neighbours and police raided the place

wrt boss, allegedly meeting re-scheduled for 3pm today. we'll see.........

KC, yeah thanks for the pink netting idea! luckily dd can't read yet

the only think i don't like about those beds is the mattresses are still foam so not sure that will really do thru to teen years.

i suspect dd will be old enough to have a hand in choosing once she outgrows the cotbed so we'll see.

have you tried freecycle for bedguard?

lol at both KC Mum and Mr SFX, dd's GPs are also a bit about ebay and what dd should/shouldn't have. they are wise enough to keep schtum or couch their perspective/advice very tactfully!

Kewcumber · 04/03/2008 12:30

the bed is live a divan type base (it isn;t but too complicated to explain) and matress so it should work fine. ANd if it doesn;t I will force SFX's Dh to take it and tell him I bought it new for her birthday

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 04/03/2008 12:31

does anyone fancy a cinema and gourmet burger night (am looking for cheapskate'y night!) or pub meal?

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 04/03/2008 12:32

sushi, my bedguard says same but it fits on my own bed where the mattress sits inside the frame.

it would work very well with a cot with one side taken off tho.

Kew, wrt CM doing pickups I don't think it'll work as she's away in the other direction to collect her own kids. Unless i send dd for the morning session and drop her off myself then have CM collect her and have her for the arvo. would still need to change my hours so i could take her in the mornings.

headaches! got 18m to figure it out tho so am sure it'll all be fine!

Kewcumber · 04/03/2008 12:33

but you could get non-foam matress for the fully extended bed couldn't you?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 04/03/2008 12:33

I think dh is bordering paranoia regarding mumsnetters since being observed mishandling the toddler

Paddlechick666 · 04/03/2008 12:34

oooh yeah GBK and Cinema sounds brill. I have a gift voucher to use too.

Weds are good for me

Kewcumber · 04/03/2008 12:35

www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90099209 - 80x200 would fit wouldn't it?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 04/03/2008 12:40

paddle most mattresses I have seen are around £150, I would like to get a proper mattress for a single bed which will last.

movie and something to eat sounds good

we have our anniversary later in the month so must plan something.

ComeOVeneer · 04/03/2008 12:47

Film and burger sounds good to me, where and when? Haven't been to the cinema in ages, although I suspect it may cause me to fall asleep once the lights go down. I'm going through a bad insomnia phase again atm, (was awake for almost 3hours during the night, it drives me crazy).

SushiMummy · 04/03/2008 12:47

sfx - My DH calls "mumsnutters"

paddle - good luck with the meeting!

Kewcumber · 04/03/2008 13:28

talking of nutters.... haven't been stalked recently, Sushi, have you warned him off?!

SJ99 · 04/03/2008 13:29

Hello all

LOl Sushi DH

Cannot help with bed chat as DS also still cot with sleeping bag. Will switch to duvet in cot in summer to help with transition to bed. We have a spare single IKEA bed, I'm thinking of trying DS with that later in the year minus the legs so not far too fall.

Cinema, meal or pub would do me

PC - good luck with meeting. Scary thought that we'll have teenagers in 10yrs time

SFX - checked out TTE but as it's 90mins will pass, DS would most certainly get ants in his pants syndrome for that length of time.

Going to see another house this afternoon, this time fully furnished so will have a proper nosey around

sfxmum · 04/03/2008 13:32

paddle/SJ it is an obsession of mine a teenagers just in time for menopause

good luck paddle

and regarding movie please no girly date movie please

SJ99 · 04/03/2008 13:36

Too scary I'm sure a whole bunch of new worries will have kicked in by then

sfxmum · 04/03/2008 13:38

I need weighttwatchers asap just tried on some summer skirts and they are a tight fit when they were loose 2yrs ago

SushiMummy · 04/03/2008 13:56

QC - he's been working late. You might bump into him today as he seems less busy (he's been checking all primary schools in Kew on internet at work, lol). You've been warned.

sfx - someone said if you have babies later in life, you are less likely suffer menopause. My mum didn't have one so I'm a bit hopeful...

SJ - good luck with the house view.

SJ99 · 04/03/2008 13:59

Hadn't heard that about menopause, I just assumed all women went through it, so there is hope!

SFX - keep up the running you must be burning loads of calories with all that exercise, just try and avoid Paddle's dessert trolley

slng · 04/03/2008 14:04

Did i see someone mention children's centres? DC go to a surestart children's centre and they are putting up the fees - ds1's by 40 percent and ds2's by 23!!!! They had a meeting to tell us that they were going to put it up by 20 percent (they wouldn't even tell us what the meeting was about until we got there. I went and told them just exactly how pissed off I was about it ...) and then they upped it by 40!! I'm so angry I can't even look at the manager without feeling like throttling somebody. I am incoherent with rage... sorry ...

bunyanvillas · 04/03/2008 14:07

SFX, dd went into a proper single bed at age 2 and we have a bed guard on the side. Uses a duvet (just a light one). The bed is against a wall. Took a week to settle her in, and she hasn't looked back. I just couldn't see the point of a toddler bed. But it's horses for courses - and dd is tall for her age so likes the extra space. PortAndLemon is active on the ante-natal board and all seems well, she is 36 weeks now. Yes, I am well up for a night out and the cheaper and cheerfuller the better!!! Would GBK do a nice veggie burger, Kew?

sfxmum · 04/03/2008 14:12

slng I don't know much about sure start centres but from what I can gather the way they are managed varies wildly.

sushi - later menopause seems to be a benefit, my mum dies when she was 51 so hard to tell, her sisters where well into late 50's afaik

SJ thanks for encouragement I meant to go today but dh is having one of those long days so must go tomorrow, will report back for some suitable punishment if I fail.
speaking of desserts dh is really really super indulgent all the time

Kewcumber · 04/03/2008 14:16

bunyan there are 5 veggie selection gbkinfo.com/GBK_Menu.htm
