Hi, I moved to Redbourn last year and looking to join or start a book club. Could you please let me know of a local one or if anyone is interested in starting one?

Excellent! I assume you mean Still Alice by the way. I look forward to meeting everyone on the 27th March.

Dragontrainer2 · 09/03/2013 12:07

Yes, it is Still Alice not Little Alice - hope you enjoy it (if "enjoy" is the right word; I cried buckets!) Hopefully see you in March!

OliviaMumsnetHerts · 11/03/2013 16:13

@HelenJV2

Hi Ali,

You would be very welcome to join us - as roundwood said we are currently reading Little Alice.

We are next due to meet in the Old Cock Inn on the High Street at 8pm on 27th March, and you can spot us as we are usually the only group of 6-7 ladies with books / kindles on the tables!

Hope to see you there and welcome to the area!

Helen

I have added this to our facebook page for you as well as the meet up pages. Souds brilliant.

Next month's book is 'Homage to Catalonia' by George Orwell, for anyone who missed this month. Meeting will be on Weds 24th April at 8pm, usual place.

HelenJV2 · 25/04/2013 20:32

Oh dear I think baby brain is becoming a real problem! Have just turned up for our book group a day late! It was only good fortune that I bumped into one of the ladies who was there meeting a friend or I probably would have sat there for 1/2 an hour wondering where you all were :-)

How much of a numpty do I feel?!!!

Needless to say that is the second month I've missed and I'm determined to make it next time! Do let me know the date and book and I will stick it in the diary!

juneau2 · 27/04/2013 13:39

Oh no! I'm glad you bumped into one of the others - we missed you on Weds.

This month's book is 'Tom-All-Alone's' by Lynn Shepherd. Our next meeting is on Weds 22nd May at 8pm, usual place. Hope to see you then x

Dragontrainer2 · 09/06/2013 10:50

Absolutely - just come along to the Old Cock on the High Street on Harpenden High Street on the 26th! We can usually be identified by being the group with books on the table . . .

Panga63 · 26/06/2013 12:52

The Old Bell, 177 Luton Road, Harpenden

Maplesyrup75 · 05/11/2013 13:36

Hi, I'm keen to make some local friends but I am a bit daunted about turning up to book club, do you all share contact details so that if I'll have an idea who I am looking for? I assume the next date is 27th October?

Maplesyrup75 · 05/11/2013 13:39

Sorry, read November!

juneau2 · 05/11/2013 18:11

Maple please don't be scared - you're very welcome to come along. We try to have a copy of the book on the table, although we don't always manage this, but if we know you're coming we'll keep an eye out for someone looking lost.

And yes, thanks for noticing my typo. Next meeting is 27th November.
