Kew - I ordered the "dirtbag" for a test. It seems quite comfy. We have tiny car and not sure can fit everything in! Maybe we should go for dozer and leave one child behind ...

SushiMummy · 11/03/2011 11:33

Hi

Can't get hold of my brother in Tokyo. Praying for his safety.Sad

sfxmum · 11/03/2011 11:40

hi sushi have been watching the news I hope you hear from him soon and that he is well and safe

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 11/03/2011 11:50

Thanks, sfx. Mobile network is down so is all public transport system in Tokyo where 13 million people live. Worrying thing is that the aftershocks are still continuing (v v unusual, I personally never experienced this).

sfxmum · 11/03/2011 12:01

in the news they were saying that some internet is working so you might get an email, the tsunamis look horrendous I expect the poor people is small islands will be hardest hit

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 11/03/2011 12:13

No response to emails, either.Sad I have a friend in Sendai where the tsunami wiped the whole town. I am really praying for her and her family at the moment. My colleagues in Tokyo are trapped in the office, I think they will have to stay in the office for the night. Some people decided to walk home but Tokyo is such a big city and it'll take them many hours to get home.

Sorry for hijacking. Hope everyone is well.

sfxmum · 11/03/2011 12:20

sfxmum · 11/03/2011 16:20

on a lighter note

dh was despairing today because he was training some people today and had to explain what 'ratify' and 'mitigation' meant
also no one knew what an aphid is (I presume not training talk) then again neither did dd's teacher
Shock

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 11/03/2011 16:35

so glad your brother is ok
praying for your friend

UptoapointLordCopper · 11/03/2011 18:59

sushi - SadSad But glad your brother is OK.

sfx - ratify? mitigate? aphid? What sort of training is this?

dustythedolphin · 12/03/2011 18:37

Sushi - hoping & praying for your friend. Hopefully its just communications down and you will get in contact

SFX, I despair of the lack of literacy and also basic grammar taught in schools nowadays

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/03/2011 10:51

Good morning!

Very nice night out. Smile Nice to meet you Kora.

Tilly - the sandy park is called King George?s Playground, and it's at the corner of St Mark's Road and Lower Boston Road. It's about opposite to the Dolphin pub. If you see the Viaduct pub you've gone too far. Here are pretty pictures. (Not the top one though.) And author of Chinese detective stories. I've read two but haven't made up my mind yet.

sfxmum · 13/03/2011 11:29

Hello lovely night drunk and ate too much, great to see everyone Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/03/2011 12:38

Had a fry-up as well courtesy of DH. Smile

Now awaiting takeaway for lunch.

sfx - never watched the Killing. Any good?

sfxmum · 13/03/2011 12:44

absolutely no room for lunch as fry up was at 10am
The Killing is pretty good story/ thriller/ who done it wise and the characters are very engaging, look like people not glossed versions USA style (they did their version)
plus the lovely Nordic interiors Grin

Really nice night out, good to meet you Kora, nice to put a face to the name Smile

Been to parents for lunch and then they looked after the boys as had more freebie cinema tickets, watched A Fair Game, pretty good film

Sushi - how are things?

dustythedolphin · 13/03/2011 20:09

Sushi - any news? Such devastation and chaos ConfusedSad

Glad you all had a fabby night out, sounds lovely Envy

Copper I'm scared the house purchase will go belly up, as its our 3rd attempt to buy Hmm

Imagine a traditional Irish farmhouse, 4 beds upstairs, with converted downstairs to provide a kitchen, a huge bar with stage and two farmhouse type rooms with huge open fireplaces. Its a famooos music venue tooo whoo hoo!!

Aim to run as a p/t business and find a p/t local job (to ditch my demanding f/t job with monster bully boss & too much travel). The licensed music venue is only open part time currently, for events/music festivals, which suits us down to the ground as wouldn't want to run f/t bar with no experience

Its owned by a lovely gay fella (yes, we do have gay men in Co Clare Wink) who has agreed I can shadow him before he leaves & is going to train me up & give me all his contacts/suppliers etc
