Gulping up lunch in office now before legging it back to see cute kids in dance routines in school. Hmm

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/07/2011 12:45

Or should it be gulping down!?

vbus · 14/07/2011 13:38

hello all

tilly - hope Ds1 well enough for trip today. Half way through book, highly entertaining!

Copper - enjoy dancing Smile

Sfx - how is DD? Went to Globe pre Dc and loved it. hope you enjoy the performance. Will have to try and dig out 3d glasses from when we saw Avatar for next week, too geeky to buy the HP style ones Grin

Kora - I was surprised how emotional I was when DS1 started. It is bizarrely quite gut wrenching, a lot of other parents felt the same so you're not alone in your thoughts

Picnic was excellent, great weather in the end and lots of fun had by all. DS1 said was a like a mini-festival especailly with Hoosiers blaring the background! Lots of tired kids today, early bed tonight I think. Another mums social tonight = more Wine oh dear, can hardly keep up

sfxmum · 14/07/2011 14:35

vbus glad to hear picnic went ahead and was enjoyable.
dd went to school, no temperature but she does not look recovered just yet

btw the door closed continues she told me off this morning for propping her door open in the morning
'but mum I wanted to open the door by myself in the morningHmm

looking forward to new series of torchwood later, tho....

tillyfernackerpants · 14/07/2011 20:02

stepford, really [hshock], did you/he get the school you/he wanted?

Ds1 went on school trip today, apparently fell asleep on the way home. He's got a bad temp tonight though, so don't think he'll be going to school tomorrow. He wants to go in though as its transition day so they're spending the morning in the y1 classroom and he doesn't want to miss out.

stepfordwife · 14/07/2011 20:13

i know tilly! yes he/we did, so lucky. i actually liked the "other" school better for a lot of reasons, but ds1 liked the one we got a bit better and I think both schools are fine and improving.

aw poor ds1, see how he is in the morning, they an make dramatic improvements overnight sometime. can't they? especially with the heady excitement of a new yr 1 classroom to visit!

sfxmum · 14/07/2011 21:34

Tilly poor boy I hope he recovers enough by tomorrow just for a little while even

Steppie Lordy secondaryGrin

Dd was clearly exhausted after school got tearful quite early and fell asleep quickly, I am under strict instructions not to wake her up until she is good and ready

I have one request, we need to find a name for our company/ business and I would appreciate suggestions, most of you know what it is so let me know if you happen to think of something Ta much appreciated

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 15/07/2011 22:17

Ds1 still not well, I sent him in this morning though as he didn't have a temp & was acting normally but got called to pick him up a lunchtime Blush. He doesn't want to do much but his appetite's just the same Confused

Copper, can't do first week in August, can you do 27/28/29 July?

sfxmum · 15/07/2011 22:26

sorry to hear tilly lots of bugs about, everyday this week at least a couple of children a day in dd's class were home sick, all with coughs sneezes and temperature, hope he feels better soon

since we could not make it together to HP should we try another meet up soon, maybe a day one and an evening one? although I expect it will be hard to coordinate

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 15/07/2011 22:52

I think a daytime meet over the holidays would probably work, at Kew I guess?!

tillyfernackerpants · 15/07/2011 22:53

sfx, yes there does seem to be a lot going around. Ds1's teacher said it was probably due to end of term. I'm going to keep him off Monday as well, even if he's better.

sfxmum · 15/07/2011 23:10

In a way that is what I did on Wednesday she could probably have gone to school but I felt a rest would do her good.
did DS1 get to see his new classroom?

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 15/07/2011 23:23

Yes he did, all I got was they have a football game, which they played but another boy cheated at it Confused. It wasn't until this pm though that I realised he thought he was starting in yr 1 today, and that if he missed it he would have to stay in reception Grin. So I think he felt better knowing it was just to have a look!!

sfxmum · 15/07/2011 23:31

oh bless him Smile
time seems to be accelerating Shock dd was looking at some of her baby pictures today and made me all misty eyed

OP posts:
sfxmum · 16/07/2011 23:36

and no rain on the performance Smile

Hello!

Hope everyone having a nice weekend!

sfx - do I remember correctly that dh likes or has read Martin Amis? Can I have a recommendation please?

Have just read Murpugo's Why the whales came. Pretty good.

Kewcumber · 17/07/2011 20:24

My Amis recommendation - don't read him.

sfxmum · 17/07/2011 20:34

dh said his non fiction is better than his fiction, he then rattled off a few fiction tittles he has read followed by 'nah wouldn't particularly recommend that' and so on, he said Time's arrow although derivative is probably best.but best recommendation ignore him, he writes well but not about something anyone really cares or would be bothered to care about - maybe Experience if you really mustGrin

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 17/07/2011 21:15
Grin

But I don't want to read Experience. Don't really want to read what he thinks. Want a story. I think I've read the Rachel Papers (it's that memorable) but reviews on amazon do not seem to agree with what I think I thought about the book. Confused Will try to find Time's arrow in the library. Or should I stick to Michael Morpugo?

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/07/2011 12:41

One more meeting and I can go home!

Amusing myself with the toddler art thread while waiting for meeting. So funny!

vbus · 18/07/2011 12:50

Copper -thread is hilarious Grin
I have been given 'the Museum of Innocence' anyone read it?

Sfx - glad you enjoyed Globe and weather behaved itself. Would be nice to meet in the summer, depends when everyone is away?

We had good weekend but it went too quickly as usual. Been to Kingston today to buy new phone, old one died Sad means I have new toy to play with tonight though!
