Copper, I recommend Morpugo's War Horse if you haven't read it, I loved it! Haven't read Amis, seems to be a lot like Ian McEwan, ie overrated!

sfxmum · 18/07/2011 18:00

hello spent day tidying up but it all still looks a mess Shock
I totally missed on the housekeeping gene

Tilly how is DS?
anyway 4 more school days left, think will take dd out for dinner on Friday

about Summer meet up, we are in London between 2nd and the 19th of august
most of next week leading up to leaving on 28th will be busy with chores I think

3 sleep to HP Grin

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 18/07/2011 18:05

sfx, he's better today thanks. I kept him off school but he hasn't had a temp today, just a nasty cough

vbus · 18/07/2011 19:28

Tilly - glad DS1 better. I really wished kids finished school last week as this week is likely to push them over the edge. Did you get my text?

Sfx - looks like I'll have to meet up with you at fest as we'll be in France from 6th-18th Grin

Kora/Sfx - I'm too excited about HP!! Want to meet for quick drink beforehand?

Can anyone do 5th am at Kew as a suggestion? Can't stay out all day as will need to get back to pack

tillyfernackerpants · 18/07/2011 19:54

Vbus, I did sorry haven't got back to you. Managed to lock myself out of the house so we were trying to shelter from the rain until dh got back Blush. I'm happy to meet tomorrow but dh is away again so don't have the car again! Do you want to come to toy library?

Oh, and I can do 5th at Kew

sfxmum · 18/07/2011 20:14

5th likely fine
drinks before film might work, will have to get back to you on that one

apparently someone in dd's class is also going to festival, not really looking forward to that

OP posts:
vbus · 18/07/2011 20:48

Tilly - Shock hope you weren't out for too long. Toy lib is fine, see you there Smile

Sfx - don't you like this person???!

I'll put 5th in diary then for now, anyone else?

sfxmum · 18/07/2011 22:05

tilly hope you had snacks

vbus it is ok but not keen to bond in any wayGrinalthough dd might actually like it

dh working from home under my feet tomorrow
must go run and perhaps do some shopping

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 18/07/2011 22:21

Something went strange with previous message. Confused

Tilly - can do 28 July. Probably can do 27th at a push.

Kora · 18/07/2011 22:44

Poor you Tilly - horrid being locked out.

Have fun everyone who is going to festivals.

Vbus, Sfx, I'm up for drink beforehand. Just let me know the plan.

Not sure about meeting up during day as probably trapped working (hmmm, I mean on the day rather than in a symbolic enduring sense, I think), though tomorrow having extra day at home to watch DD1's last swimming lesson of term. So proud, she used to scream in the water but now has managed to get first certificate. Probably means that she's just stopped screaming, rather than actual swimming, but it's progress and she's really chuffed Grin

tillyfernackerpants · 19/07/2011 08:19

Copper, let's do 28th then, need to see if Kew can make that as well!

Kora, well done to dd! Am booking ds1 into swimming lessons over the holiday. He's forgotten everything he learned!

sfxmum · 19/07/2011 10:17

tilly where are you thinking of booking lessons?
I am considering 1:1 or small group of up to 4 at the Fountain, I have 2 other children interested but must contact them asap I guess, maybe an intensive 1 week course I am not sure

OP posts:
sfxmum · 19/07/2011 10:17

and well done to Kora's ddSmile

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 19/07/2011 12:17

tilly - will confirm with dh about 28th. Where? Westfield? Richmond? Either OK.

My favourite stripy jeans is worn out! Holes at bottom and knees. To be fair I got it from MIL who probably got it from charity shop in the first place. What to replace it with? Quick look on internet did not show up stripy jeans....

tillyfernackerpants · 19/07/2011 14:31

I'm going to do it at the Fountain, their groups seem to be limited to 6 so a good number

sfxmum · 19/07/2011 14:33

great Tilly will give them a call

OP posts:
vbus · 19/07/2011 14:35

Copper - go for some shocking pink ones, they seem to be in!

Tilly - nice to see you earlier, DS2 talked about your DS2 top all the way home Grin

Kora - well done to your Dd on getting certificate. I'll text you about drink

Sfx - There seem to be a lot of crash courses running over the summer hols, hope you find one. I booked 3 days at holiday camp for DS1 over the hols, he really enjoyed it last year. We're sticking with swimming & gym class next term. DS1 also wants to do computer club, language, and drama in yr1 Shock He can choose 2 but then he will have to drop football

just about got washing off the line before the heavens opened, good grief

tillyfernackerpants · 19/07/2011 20:40

vbus, yes ds2 kept asking where your ds2 was, so funny when you think they pretty much ignored each other earlier Grin

Has anyone watched Case Histories? I know I'm behind the times, but am I wrong in thinking they've made a cafe in one of the Kew greenhouses?? Its in the first episode

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/07/2011 20:50

vbus - DS2 thinks I should go for pink and yellow stripes. Grin Is this one bad?

We also often have situation where one child can't eat or sleep with the excitement of going to someone's house to play, and then completely ignoring each other when they are actually there. It's very funny.

Tilly - 28 July OK for HP! Where is Kew?

Did watch Case Histories but didn't spot anywhere but Edinburgh... I thought the dramatisation was good. Better than the book, dare I say ...

tillyfernackerpants · 19/07/2011 21:16

I guess you're right Copper! It would seem a bit extragavant to move production to London for just one scene Grin, it really did look like Kew though.

Great to 28th, will check times for Westfield & Richmond

sfxmum · 20/07/2011 09:53

good morning

mad rush this morning as I somehow managed to switch off my alarm clock and woke up at 8.15Shock
anyway dd was very cooperative and chilled out which helps

when it comes to Case Histories I was permanently too distracted by the lovely Mr Isaacs to notice anything else

copper I though the books were far funnier, hard to spend time on that on screen although the adaptations were coherent and competent

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 20/07/2011 10:34

Morning!

DSs took things in to school for teachers and TA - self-decorated paper bags with edibles inside. Pretty odd decorations. Grin

Have bought LOTS of Jaffa cakes for school class parties tomorrow. Luckily buy one get one free at Waitrose, for the monster packs!

Mr Isaacs is indeed nice. Smile Anyway I liked the adaptation. Plots pretty tenuous but it's nice, not like that Luther thing which I didn't watch after the first few last series. That one's exasperating.

sfxmum · 20/07/2011 11:22

again Copper don't really mind the nonsense in Luther as Idris Elba is quite nice tooBlush in fact those two plus Guy Pearce, Timothy Olyphant &Viggo Mortensen can just stand still and it will be fine by me
HmmGrin

must go to town but the will fails me

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 20/07/2011 11:28

Sfx what level is DD swimming - wouldn't mind sharing a lesson. DS is level 4 ish (ie can swim 25 metres but no discernable stroke, he at the learning strokes stage). He's doing a one week crash course at Cedars next week but I'd be interested in something later in the summer or during term maybe.

Don;t think I can do HP on 28th - I have two nights away Thurs friday this week and Ma is having DS so a bit mich to expect her to babysit a few days later as well. Sorry would like to go but need it to be at least a week later. Otehrwise go ahead without me.
