I've noticed there are a few of us now, Brussels, Leuven, Antwerp, elsewhere?

We're approaching that period where the weather might be reasonably nice, so I thought it might be good to organise something if you're interested.

I have no real idea of how to go about this, but have to start somewhere.....

Let me know!

ScaryTeacher is in! I hope she is scary in RL !

Anyone going to the BCT Teddy Bear's picnic on Sunday? I'm on the committee (ish) as due to work commitments I haveb't been to any of the meetings. But should be there to help out on Sunday....The weather is meant to be good....

A girl's night out sounds like a great idea!

LongtimeinBrussels · 17/06/2009 22:40

Count me in for a girls' night out as I can't make the daytime get-together this time (still sad about that) . RR, I live near Hermann-Debroux if you fancy a lunchtime meet sometime?

rushingrachel · 18/06/2009 12:00

I am very much up for lunches near HD or drinks anywhere or a girls night out. Poor ds has been very sick and in hospital but he's on the mend now so I feel up for getting out!

RuthChan · 18/06/2009 20:57

Portofino; I might be up for the teddy bears' picnic on Sunday.
I haven't actually run the idea past DH yet. (Our weekend plans are usually decided on Friday night or Saturday morning.)
I would be great to meet up with you if we do go though...

Portofino · 20/06/2009 08:59

Did anyone get caught up in the traffic nightmare last night? It took me 3 hours to get home from work! Blaardy farmers! Luckily I left early so managed to get out of the city without too much problem to get dd from school. We then spent another 2.5 hours in a traffic jam. I'm sure these guys have a valid point, but I sure wasn't feeling any sympathy for them by the end!

Well off to the book sale at Stone Manor to stock up on holiday reading material....

scaryteacher · 20/06/2009 11:40

Marking GCSEs so chained to the computer - what happened? A friend mentioned loads of tractors going down the road from Vossem to Tervuren yesterday, and there were police helicopters buzzing and sirens going for quite a while yesterday.

Portofino · 20/06/2009 13:58

I think they blocked the E40 at Everberg, and the Belliard and Tervuren tunnels with tractors, plus Montgomery. Can you imagine Friday night with everyone trying to get home!

I knew before I left work that Place Meiser was blocked, and also the E40. Got dd from school in Evere after going a very convulted route, and the Leuvensesteenweg was chokka all the way back to Meiser. So we went out past Nato towards the airport. Cars heading towards Brussels were stationary with people just milling about. When we got to Zaventem it was solid and it took 2.5 hours to cross from one side of town to the other. Apparently there were 26km of queues on the Ring so probably I had an easy time of it compared to some last night!

scaryteacher · 20/06/2009 15:55

Could you not have gone the back way through Evere and eventually got to Tramlaan? I suppose everyone was doing that too. Bloody nightmare.

dh away on gliding jolly, but this is why now he works near Schumann he takes the metro and the tram.

Portofino · 20/06/2009 20:45

I never thought of that! [blush}

LongtimeinBrussels · 21/06/2009 20:19

Portofino, we went to Stonemanor to the book sale too! Took loads of our books to give to them and came away with lots for dd!

sleepmore · 24/06/2009 14:09

Hello again

Sorry I never responded before - had another baby recently so been a bit snowed under!

LongtimeinBrussels · 17/07/2009 18:18

Am now going to be here on 29 July. Is it still on?

monkeybumsmum · 17/07/2009 19:03

Hi Longtime Yes, it's still on, so come along! It'll be lovely to meet you! In fact Ruthchan and I took the kids along to Kessel-Lo yesterday for a ganders, it's great! Can't believe I'd never heard of it

Hope everyone's having a lovely July so far? Am really looking forward to the 29th - are we still doing a picnic?

Sleepmore (congrats on your baby by the way!) and rushingrachel, are you able to come too? It'd be great if you could, but if not then I'm sure we'll have other meet-up's in the future

LPO · 20/07/2009 20:00

Hi ladies,

I live in Waterloo and have a DS aged 0.3.
Looking forward to hearing/meeting you all soon.
Ruthchan mentioned the 29th to me and I'm hoping to come along, hospital vacination app dependant.

Portofino · 20/07/2009 20:08

Hi,

I'm just back from my holibobs today - looking like it's still on for next week. LPO, there should be an email address further up so we can make arrangements off line....Has Belgo disappeared?

I was hoping to look brown and svelte for the meet up. I am a BIT browner but no svelter unfortunately . So, no need for the carnation - I'll be the fat one with sunburn!

RuthChan · 20/07/2009 21:15

Welcome to mumsnet LPO!
Glad to have you aboard and glad you can join us for this meeting. I hope your DS is up to it after his jab.

LPO · 20/07/2009 21:33

Yes Portofino, I have emailed regarding details for the meet-up.
Ruthchan- thanks for the mail with this link on, will be great to meet up. ARGH... vacinations are a nightmare!!!

Portofino · 20/07/2009 21:47

DD is due to go off to a farm in the Ardennnes next month - requirement up to date tentanus. Hoping that the GP can privde this as I don't think she has had one...

sayanything · 20/07/2009 22:08

Just popping in to wave hello to you all - I live in Brussels. FT employment (which currently includes 4 hours a day of unmissable language courses for the next three weeks) means I won't be able to join you on the 29th unfortunately .

I hope you have a wonderful time and that I can join you next time (by which time, I hope to be preggers, fingers and toes crossed)!

Portofino · 20/07/2009 22:14

Hi sayanything ! Lessons sound extreme! I'.m in in the city if you fancy a lunch break....

sayanything · 20/07/2009 22:20

Portofino, that would be great, but my language course starts at 13.30, so I just grab a quick sarnie. It is a bit extreme (the course, not the sarnie), but it means I finish a level in 3 weeks, as opposed to 6 months - pas mal, non?

Perhaps we could arrange a lunch get-together after the 15/08? I'm in the European quarter.

RuthChan · 21/07/2009 08:10

Hi sayanything.
It's a shame you can't make it next week. As it's still only July, maybe we can all fit in one more meet up towards the end of August. (That's assuming that we all actually like each other enough to meet again!!! )

belgo · 22/07/2009 07:19

Hi everyone, just got reminded about this on another thread, and then panicked because I thought it was today.

Anyway I'm still on for next wednesday, will email portofino

belgo · 22/07/2009 07:40

have emailed the address set up by monkey, not portofino!

monkeybumsmum · 22/07/2009 08:33

Morning!

Have just emailed contact details for Belgo and LPO (called you LCO on the email, sorry - only got 4 hours sleep last night, bleurgh)

Have to go, ds pulling at me
