Oh Anorak, she is def in some way related to my son. I have spent months telling him not to leave his iPod on the floor because he would tread on it and it would get broken. You know what happened next. So, no iPod!

chocchipcookie · 26/03/2008 12:58

On second thoughts Anorak, she presumanly wants the laptop for the internet, not for writing extra school essays? If so, why is she so keen to have the internet for that week away? Anything fishy there do you think? There is spyware you can use to monitor what they are doing online which normally I would be very against but now having had a teen for two horrendous years I think anything parents do is fair enough.

anorak · 26/03/2008 13:08

No, she just can't live without msn. I worry far too much about this sort of thing. I should just forget about it and leave her to the consequences of her actions.

Either way I will be wrong. If she doesn't lose it it will be 'see I told you' and if she does I will be lambasted for not being sympathetic and stumping up for a new one.

Earlybird · 26/03/2008 14:54

jabberwocky - would love to see/meet you before you move out of the area. Just let me know when you're planning a trip into 'town', and we'll see what we can arrange.

UnderRated · 27/03/2008 01:12

Oooo, Anorak, I'd be furious with her. No wonder she was being unpleasant on the way to the airport. Teenagers sound harder than newborns. It makes me feel quite grateful that my big difficulty today was DS having a tantrum on the ground at the zoo. I am lucky that I can just scoop him up and 5 minutes later he has forgotten all about it. The thing with Teenagers is that they remember things and hold grudges. And, from memory, can be quite manipulative, mean and just as needy as a toddler. I am sure they have redeeming features too.

We had a fab time at the Rainforest Cafe. Food was gross and terribly overpriced but DS is still talking about the crocodiles and elephants he had lunch with. I think he believes they are real!

dooneygirl · 28/03/2008 03:40

Colin has croup again. Could you all please send your most anti-croup vibes this way, because I'm tired of it.

Do you think this could be Karmic payback for all the times I was in the hospital with it when I was little?

Thanks, Cali. I told him he could come sleep in our bed, and he declined. Then I told him I would come sleep in his room. He declined. So I sat up for a very long time listening for him. I must have fallen asleep somewhere along the way, because I got woken up with a cheery "Hi mommy" from Caitlin coming in our room around 3. I sat up for a very long time again. Nothing. Not one single cough. And he's been fine all morning. He seems to be getting this 24 hour or less croup, which I'm not going to complain about, but how odd.

DH thinks I can take him to the Dr., and they can tell us what we need to do so he when he gets sick it won't turn into croup.

UnderRated · 29/03/2008 03:31

Again, Dooney? How awful. I do hope things are getting better. I can't believe how often your DS has had croup

I might take my mum to the cinema tomorrow. She never goes so it will be a big adventure, if we go.

Nothing much to report here. Hope everyone is ok. Sittingbull has been absent for a long time- is she ok?

jabberwocky · 31/03/2008 01:14

Dooney, so sorry that Colin had croup again Are they sure it's not asthma? Or allergies? I just ask b/c coughing is the main symptom of my asthma while ds1 coughs with his allergies. Zyrtec does wonders on him, btw.

I hope sitting bull is OK. I'm not around on MN much these days so I have no idea if she's been on active convos or not.

dooneygirl · 31/03/2008 04:01

Oh yeah, he has allergies too, (although they've almost disappeared since we moved up here) but it is definitely croup. I have a bent trachea, and I had croup up until 3rd or 4th grade, when I finally got big enough for it to start straightening out. Guess what he inherited from me? I just don't understand how we went 2 years without croup, and then this year he's had it more often than any other time in his life.

So a bit flustered this weekend. DH got free tickets from his work for this $1000 a plate ball thing his company bought a table to. He had to say yes or no right away, and said yes, but everyone we know is not going to be able to do it. We finally got a patchwork of someone's husband will do it the first hour, and then someone will come get them after babysitting 12 hours for 3 other children. Thank you so much my friend.

Now I have to find something to wear. I've been to 2 malls, and all they have are "Hey, I look like I think I'm at prom" dresses, and "Hey this dress is so short if I didn't wear underwear, I'd be pulling a Britney" dresses. Oh yeah, and mother of the mother of the bride dresses. I guess I'll have to leave suburbia and head to the Downtown area and hope they have something at Saks. It is hard enough to find a dress that even fits me anyway. My top and bottom halves aren't the same size.

UnderRated · 31/03/2008 04:23

Ooo, shopping Dooney. How exciting. The childcare sounds stresful but dress hunting could be fun.

Ann Taylor had a great sale on this week including lots of ball gowns and cocktail dresses - do you have a store near you? Nordstrom Rack had lots too but I rarely have the patience for that type of store.

Good luck.

Nice to see you Jabberwocky

dooneygirl · 31/03/2008 04:30

I was at an Ann Taylor today, and didn't find anything. Our Rack has nothing. I went to 2 actual Nordstrom's today, and the 1st one told me to go to the 2nd one, because they were geared toward prom, and the 2nd one had no more than the first.

UnderRated · 31/03/2008 04:36

Oh. I'm no help then!

dooneygirl · 31/03/2008 04:49

No, thanks for trying. I was wrong. I was in an Ann Taylor Loft today. They have a plain old Ann Taylor at the downtown place I'll be going in a few days. The lady at Nordstrom said they were focusing on prom this year, so they didn't have much room for many other special occasion dresses.

I found some dresses I liked at Saks online, so I hope their store has them. I have to try them on, because most dresses will either smush my boobs down and it is quite obvious how smushed they are, or if they fit around my top, then the dress makes me look about 50 pounds heavier than what I am. I'm still trying to work out what the dress code is, and what it means, anyway.

alipiggie · 31/03/2008 05:16

SittingBull's doing okay, just busy dealing with lots of different things . Hi everyone. Not had a good weekend emotionally, but heck life's not too bad. Booked a trip to two concerts today so all in all not bad. Mile High Concert in Denver on July 21 - Martin Sexton, Ingrid Michaelson, Colbet Caillet and many others . So weekend ended up far better than it started.

Off to bed now. Have a great week everyone.

What a lovely weekend, Califrau. Hope you are ok Ali. Please tell SB I am thinking of her and hope she is well. The concert in the summer sounds fab.

Good luck shopping, Dooney.

I'm tired. It's thundering. I want to go to bed.

UnderRated · 31/03/2008 19:41

Anyone seen Anorak recently?

anorak · 31/03/2008 22:13

Boo!

Grin
jabberwocky · 31/03/2008 23:59

Dooney do you have a Cache' store near you? I've had good luck there in the past.

Cali, sounds wonderful. I love it when my boys surprise me with a well-behaved afternoon. It's so rare....

ali, very at the concerts. Hope things went nicely today and you've got a good start on the week.

anorak · 01/04/2008 00:42

I've been feeling rubbish but they changed my chemo drugs last week and I'm beginning to pick up a bit now. I may well get back to my normal cheerful self soon if this keeps up.

this will be post no 999, will that make the thread full?
