IVF April 2025

waitingforourmiracle · 07/03/2025 11:15

Thought I'd start a thread for anyone starting IVF/ICSI in April! This is going to be round 2 for me, I'm currently waiting for my period to start so I can book my pre-treatment appointment and typical, I'm a week late with no signs of AF! Joys of PCOS and irregular cycles!

Be nice to have some company! 💛

I am living my own version of hell right now. 6dpt I got my first positive and they’ve been getting darker; a little slowly at first, but today for example morning test from a very concentrated SMU was lighter than one I took from a random pretty light wee in the evening. The line’s not as dark as control yet, but getting close. But then I started spotting yesterday 9dpt and today it is full on bleeding, I cannot call it spotting by any stretch of willpower anymore.

Can nothing on this journey be simple? OTD is tuesday, but if the tests aren’t getting lighter by monday, I think I’ll go get a private beta on monday so I’d have someting to compare to on tuesday. I know it’s not 48 hrs, but I can math, but this is so stupid. At this point I have little faith this will turn out ok, too much blood, and I’m just hoping it ends up a chemical not some ectopic bs. I have plans for mid may and I REFUSE to have this dumb shit ruin them.

I'm okay but getting anxious now. Had a dream that I got the call and none had made it to day 5 and I woke up crying my eyes out. I was so relieved that moment I realised it was just a dream but equally obviously there is a chance that it will be the reality too so just feeling very on edge. But yes update tomorrow and just praying we have a good number to send off for testing. I've got the hairdressers tomorrow morning too so really hoping they ring after that as I don't think I can face answering it when out, in case it's bad news but equally it will be torture to see the phone ringing and not answer it and just put myself out of my misery! Hope everyone else is doing okay with the never ending waiting/hoping.

Sending u all the luck

We got an update today - day 4 - even though we weren't due one

Was gd news
.we have 4 frozen blastocysts ready for pgta testing.

Will get a day 5 call tomorrow re the other two

( the other ones grew very fast - they await pgta testing )

Hopefully the super fast growth wont be bad or won't be a genetic abnormal thing

So sorry to hear this, it must be so scary. Have you spoken to the clinic or an EPU? They might be able to scan for a hematoma which I think can be a common cause of early bleeding and is more common with IVF pregnancies. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞

FancyGoose · 02/05/2025 20:22

@worldwidetravel2017 brilliant that you have 4 for testing already, and maybe more tomorrow! I know more waiting to come but nice to get over another hurdle...one step closer 😊

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone waiting on embryo updates

I had my FET yesterday and all went well. I was super anxious about the embryo not surviving the thaw, but it was absolutely fine. A day 5 3B+B-; I thought this wasn't the best grade, but the embryologist said that it looked really good and rehydrated and expanded really well (I read that this is a marker of 'good' embryo). OTD is the 15th so it's quite a long waiting period, I'm going to hold off on testing for as long as I can (it's my birthday in a few days so definitely don't want to see a negative until after that!)

It's funny how there's such different advice on what to do post transfer, but my clinic said to be very, very relaxed in all activities. Obviously nothing strenuous, no running, no lifting, no heat. But then the consultant threw in "don't use your stomach muscles" and "do everything slowly, every movement should be slow". So taking that as a reason for my husband to do all of the household chores for the next few weeks!

How is everyone else getting on?

So interesting. I’ve always been told to just live life normally but this time I’m gonna take it extra slow and hope it sticks! Good luck!

Them growing SO fast may not be good news

Im glad 2 haven't gone as fast

Guna be nervous for the pgta test results in a bit

PixieJxoxo · 03/05/2025 10:54

@SamVan thank you!

For those of you who have had FETs, I was wondering what dosage of progesterone you were given and whether your clinic checked levels before transfer?

Mine did check, but I’ve still not gotten results from them (and won’t for another few days due to the bank holiday). I’m sure it’s fine, but I just have this niggle that it might be too low and my dosage needs to be adjusted.

SamVan · 03/05/2025 10:58

@PixieJxoxo my nhs clinic didn’t check but my private clinic did. My nhs consultant said there’s no agreement on how much progesterone is enough and checking isn’t necessary. Ive only done a natural modified fet and have been on two cyclogest pessaries (nhs) and one (private - because my levels were high enough). I know my nhs clinic does the same dosage for medicated transfers too.

worldwidetravel2017 · 03/05/2025 11:44

Had todays clinic call

We have 6 blastocysts

Hope everyone else has good calls today

FancyGoose · 03/05/2025 12:44

Our d5 update has left me feeling a bit in limbo still. We have have two that she said she was 'almost certain' would be ready for biopsy this afternoon and one that is close behind. There are another 5 still in the running that are blastocysts but not fully expanded. She said she doubts all of them will make it but thinks that a couple may and I'll get another call tomorrow. Trying to stay positive but it's a bit frustrating that nothing is actually ready yet and I was hoping for a few more as 2-3 is feeling quite low (although I guess we still don't know our final number and there's a chance some of the slower ones might come along).

Our slower 6 cell one fully caught up - it shocked and surprised me - keep the faith

Day 6 is also a good day for freezing

You mention biopsy in your post - your pgta-ing too yea ?

FancyGoose · 03/05/2025 17:00

@worldwidetravel2017 thank you, trying to keep positive and obviously good news that it's looking like we have anything at all. Great news for you too.

Yes, PGTA testing too so that will be the next horrible wait, it's never ending isn't it 🤣

Yeah the waiting is ugh

FancyGoose · 04/05/2025 09:54

Great results today- we've had 7 frozen and biopsied for PGTA testing. We've never had that many before- the maximum we've ever had has been two frozen (although we didn't test them) so really chuffed to have more than tripled that number!! Only downside is the cost of getting that many tested haha but it's a nice problem to have!

Ace news
Very happy to hear

How long have they said testing takes ?
1 - 2 weeks here

TamanNegara · 04/05/2025 11:22

In a bit of a daze here but reading all your updates!

Here... both my embryos made it, one transferred yesterday and the other just about expanded (?!) in time to be frozen today. The best possible result given two of only three eggs collected fertilised!

FancyGoose · 04/05/2025 11:30

Amazing news @TamanNegara and sending you lots of good luck for a sticky embryo!

@worldwidetravel2017 yes same here, they said I should have heard by the end of the week after next so not that long to wait.

Hi- just posting up but I’m going to leave the chat. Our IVF journey has gone more than pear shaped and I’m now on a recovery journey from emergency surgery to correct ovarian torsion secondary to OHSS. Just a note to anyone if you get sever one sided pain GO TO ED! If I hadn’t then I’d have lost my tube and ovary! Also any meds to prevent OHSS take them! It’s hell!

I wish all of you the absolute best of luck in the world and pray that all your babies come to you in good time 💗 love to you all and maybe I’ll see you on a baby forum one day! Xx

BakinABaby · 05/05/2025 08:31

@FancyGoose Whoah that's a lot of embryos, great news! Good luck with them.
@TamanNegara So happy for you! Nothing better feeling than beating the odds. Hoping the one sticks.

I'm so sorry things went sour. How upsetting and heartbreaking for you. I hope your feeling better soon and on the mend quickly.

FancyGoose · 05/05/2025 18:45

@Hopesforamiracle so sorry to hear you've been so unwell. Wishing you a speedy recovery and well done for listening to your body and going to A&E.

@worldwidetravel2017 yes I was surprised as I think we were originally told it could be about a month. I think they send them out as they said they would get the results within 7 days but then they have to process them which is why it's closer to 2 weeks that I will hear.

BakinABaby · 06/05/2025 07:59

So I'm unfortunately out. Despite bleeding my lines kept getting darker and yesterday hcg was 100.98, so I was holdling out some hope, but today it has fallen to 48.9 so yeah... Third time charm did not work for me. I'm having a call with my doc later, see what she says and what and when to do with the one frosty we have. Sad 😢
