Thought I'd start a thread for anyone starting IVF/ICSI in April! This is going to be round 2 for me, I'm currently waiting for my period to start so I can book my pre-treatment appointment and typical, I'm a week late with no signs of AF! Joys of PCOS and irregular cycles!

Be nice to have some company! 💛

Hey @PixieJxoxo welcome to the late period club😅
Sorry, I don't know too much about long protocol, is your next stage to prepare for your FET or are you doing another EC? X

I think it’s for about a week. I was really upset at the time because the nurse told me we can’t start treatment and they could be certain that we could start end of March if I take this medication. I barely remember what was said and if I asked anything haha I hope the clinic can do the same for you @waitingforourmiracle Glad to hear your EC went really smoothly. This is my biggest worry, anything happening and having issues that will take time to resolve. I never had an operation before and I get anxious easily 😅

Oh totally, I had no idea what a long protocol for FET was either until yesterday when the nurse sprung it on me! So basically, it's essentially 2 medicated cycles. The first one is to down regulate for about a month with provera tablets and buserilin injections and then get a(nother!) withdrawal bleed and after that withdrawal bleed, it's all the meds to prep my lining. Hopefully will be able to transfer at about Day 17ish in that cycle.

I never thought I'd want the dreaded period to show up whilst TTCing for the last 3 years, but here we are! How many days late are you?

thehype · 11/03/2025 21:25

Hi @BreakfastOats that must have been difficult being delayed due to your clinic's backlog. Were you told that you were on a short protocol or did you figure that out yourself? Sorry I'm not sure what the difference is between them and which one I am on haha

@Twofromanotherkind yes each step at a time is working well. How long until your next step?

@Miraclemuma03 yes that's it - I'm at risk of OHSS but I haven't looked into exactly what it is so that I don't worry about it. Oh wow that's a long time ... congrats on your previous successes but also sorry to hear about your TFMR and unsuccessful transfers. Will you be doing everything the same for this round as you have done previously?

@waitingforourmiracle yeah I think the same as you that I would prefer not to wait to transfer but that's good to hear that it was nice to have the break. Sorry to hear that ... that must have been devastating for you. Will you be doing anything differently for this round?

Hi @PixieJxoxo haha the best kind of trolling ... by our own bodies! I hope your CD1 comes soon for you.

Twofromanotherkind · 11/03/2025 21:27

Hi @thehype tomorrow I get my meds delivered which is my birthday! I'm so excited. Then waiting for AF due around 25th how about you?

What a good birthday present ... happy birthday for tomorrow! Mine are coming on Thursday and then we have the appointment with a nurse on Friday. Have you already have that appointment?

Twofromanotherkind · 11/03/2025 21:33

@thehype thank you is it weird how I'm so excited? Ah fab lots of things happening this week for you. Yes I had my nurse appointment last Tuesday so just a case of waiting now! When are you due on?

PixieJxoxo · 11/03/2025 21:43

Thank you @thehype ! I was also an OHSS risk - electrolytes, protein and fibre will be your besties through egg collection and beyond.

Happy birthday for tomorrow @Twofromanotherkind , a meds delivery is definitely something to be excited about

Twofromanotherkind · 11/03/2025 21:48

Thanks @PixieJxoxo when was your period due? So annoying when you're late and you're just waiting

Yeah same ... I guess it's because it's all starting to get real now. I'm due around the same day as you but my cycles range from 26 to 38 days so it probably won't be when I expect it ha

Oooh great I'll stock up on those then - thanks for the tip! How did you find the procedure?

BreakfastOats · 11/03/2025 22:00

@thehype I was told by the clinic that I’ll be on the short protocol. I think that with the long protocol, you need to start injections before you get your period but with the short you only start after.

Happy birthday @Twofromanotherkind 🥳 Hope you have a lovely day tomorrow!

thehype · 11/03/2025 22:13

@BreakfastOats thanks that makes sense so I'm on the short protocol as well

Miraclemuma03 · 11/03/2025 22:57

@thehype not sure what this protocol is going to be, will find out when I have my start point with the nurses. All I know at this point is I have to start slinda 4mg on day one of cycle so the clinic can take control of my cycle.

You ladies doing your own injections is crazy, you all power houses. My husband does all mine. He wakes me up at 4am before he leaves for work, injects me and then puts me back to bed hahah. And on trigger night he stays up with me to do it for me.

waitingforourmiracle · 12/03/2025 11:39

@PixieJxoxo ah I see!! Everything crossed for you!! I'm currently on day 45 of this cycle so almost 2 weeks late, I do feel like something may be happening today but not getting my hopes up!

@thehype I've gone with a different clinic this time round, my last clinic was CREATE and they were very good but I just don't think I could face going back to the same clinic again so wanted to start completely fresh, cyclewise think it'll be similar except I'm trying different meds, last round I used Gonnal-F, this time I'm using meriofert

@Twofromanotherkind Happy Birthday! What a present getting meds is 😋

@Miraclemuma03 he sounds like a keeper!! My boyfriend hates blood and needles so he'd be no help to me haha, I always say it's a good job it's me injecting and not him!!

OP posts:
thehype · 12/03/2025 20:05

@waitingforourmiracle ah yes I can understand that!

I agree with @Miraclemuma03 you all sound amazing doing your own injections.... I'm hoping my husband won't be working away and will do mine for me. I'm sure he would love to jab me with a needle ha

BreakfastOats · 12/03/2025 20:34

You are all really brave making the decision to go through this process, and some even going through it multiple times ♥️ I’m really scared and really pushing myself to get on with it!

Twofromanotherkind · 12/03/2025 20:36

Have to do it myself have no choice! Luckily I'm a nurse but still different injecting yourself I think. Once I get the first one out the way it'll be fine

BreakfastOats · 12/03/2025 22:02

Oh yes @Twofromanotherkind, I remember your story from the other thread now! You are truly amazing, I talked to my husband about you and he absolutely agrees xx

BreakfastOats · 12/03/2025 22:06

I hope that’s ok to say but perhaps being a nurse will hopefully help a bit as you’re familiar with the clinical environment. I find it a bit intimidating at times, seeing people in uniform, machines, needles 🙂‍↔️🫣

Twofromanotherkind · 12/03/2025 22:10

@BreakfastOats yes of course. Oh thank you. I've had a few judgy comments doing this myself (mainly from friends). But I really want to start a family and for many reason, including some previous trauma, I haven't ever been in a long term relationship.

BreakfastOats · 12/03/2025 22:27

Oh no I’m sorry to hear you received such comments @Twofromanotherkind Sometimes people think they protect us by saying things that just end up being hurtful and unhelpful. Trauma is always difficult to deal with, even without it some people are lucky and find their life partner early, but others meet their person in their 40s, 50s or 60s! I know a guy that just had a baby at 52 but women can’t wait that long! xxx

BreakfastOats · 12/03/2025 22:32

If I’m reproductively challenged now, by 52, my eggs will be hard boiled for sure 🥚🫠 so if someone’s ready for kids, the sooner they go for it the better!

Twofromanotherkind · 12/03/2025 22:43

100% that's so true, thank you it's always hard to know how people react when I tell them. ♥️

I couldn't even be brave enough to give myself insulin with one of my pregnancies though I have no issues what so every receiving needles. I'm pretty independent in all other aspects of my life until you give me something to inject and I turn to a lala. Took me half hr the first ever time I had to do my sugar levels It took everything in me to prick my finger myself I'm so ridiculous.
