IVF April 2025

Thought I'd start a thread for anyone starting IVF/ICSI in April! This is going to be round 2 for me, I'm currently waiting for my period to start so I can book my pre-treatment appointment and typical, I'm a week late with no signs of AF! Joys of PCOS and irregular cycles!

I'm so sorry you have had such a hard time with this ivf cycle. It really isn't for the weak is it . Congratulations on thr pregnancy. I hope you can get well soon and everything else from here runs smoothly for you

Thank you it’s been really hard to enjoy the positive pregnancy as I’ve felt so poorly and they have been querying an ectopic as well. Have an early scan at EPU tomorrow which will hopefully confirm location of pregnancy 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Twofromanotherkind i really hope all is in the right place and everything works out. I remember with my very first ivf cycle, which was maybe 12yrs ago, I had ohss but was told it was only mild and went through a day 3 embryo transfer, which was successful but my goodness I was very unwell and in pain because the rise of hormones made it worse. I was prescribed some mild pain relief which helped a lot and eventually it got better.

Hi @BakinABaby yes we were !!! So kind of on the kitchen side we went minimal to fund IVF in the end 😬 so we have a basic kitchen most work done by friends all so we could fund the next round, yes transfer is booked for Friday the 9th fingers crossed this may is successful

I’ve been on paracetamol, dihydrocodeine for pain and cyclizine for nausea and vomiting. I couldn’t keep water down at one point. I had to have a catheter at one point as I couldn’t wee

Gosh i hope your better soon. Try to look after yourself and rest. Have you got support?

thank you, it’s been a struggle living alone. My sister came down for a few days and my parents are staying for a few days. Hopefully will manage after that. Had to rely on people to walk dogs and my dog sitter has taken the dogs this week as I couldn’t manage looking after them. It makes you realise who your real friends are that’s for sure

My hormones = i feel weird

Like last night - couldn't sleep
Got 4 hrs on sofa in end

Food is weird atm.
Like i dont fancy what id normally have and snack more but less big meals

I can’t believe I’m about to write this but I tested this morning at 8DP5DT and have got my BFP🥹 I really thought I was out with all the cramping, just can’t believe it. Xx

@Familyfirst12 Congratulations! How are you feeling other than the cramping?

@BakinABaby I feel quite sick but I think it’s all the adrenaline, other than that I feel okay! The clear blue says 2-3 and the line on the first response is quite dark so I’m feeling positive. Just honestly cannot believe it

( my friend thinks that one might become a day 6 instead of day 5 - if we dont lose it tomorrow ).

1 x 8 cell

2 x 12 cells - and compacting ( reached ahead ) - can be gd 4 ivf live birth apparently

2 x 13 cells - from what weve read - 13 cells can be good 4 fresh transfers
But we are only doinc fets ..

All embryos continued to divide
All top quality
Fragmentation low

Next update is saturday.

Biopsy stuff starts in lab tomorrow

Mine is much less detailed - update was still two, "top quality embryos growing well".

Lotsa updates due tomorrow for a few i think

I'm okay but getting anxious now. Had a dream that I got the call and none had made it to day 5 and I woke up crying my eyes out. I was so relieved that moment I realised it was just a dream but equally obviously there is a chance that it will be the reality too so just feeling very on edge. But yes update tomorrow and just praying we have a good number to send off for testing. I've got the hairdressers tomorrow morning too so really hoping they ring after that as I don't think I can face answering it when out, in case it's bad news but equally it will be torture to see the phone ringing and not answer it and just put myself out of my misery! Hope everyone else is doing okay with the never ending waiting/hoping.

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone waiting on embryo updates

I had my FET yesterday and all went well. I was super anxious about the embryo not surviving the thaw, but it was absolutely fine. A day 5 3B+B-; I thought this wasn't the best grade, but the embryologist said that it looked really good and rehydrated and expanded really well (I read that this is a marker of 'good' embryo). OTD is the 15th so it's quite a long waiting period, I'm going to hold off on testing for as long as I can (it's my birthday in a few days so definitely don't want to see a negative until after that!)

It's funny how there's such different advice on what to do post transfer, but my clinic said to be very, very relaxed in all activities. Obviously nothing strenuous, no running, no lifting, no heat. But then the consultant threw in "don't use your stomach muscles" and "do everything slowly, every movement should be slow". So taking that as a reason for my husband to do all of the household chores for the next few weeks!
