Thought I'd start a thread for anyone starting IVF/ICSI in April! This is going to be round 2 for me, I'm currently waiting for my period to start so I can book my pre-treatment appointment and typical, I'm a week late with no signs of AF! Joys of PCOS and irregular cycles!

Be nice to have some company! 💛

I'll join this group, I'm in the march thread but will be having my egg collection and transfer (hopefully) in April. Due to start stims end of march once AF comes

Miraclemuma03 · 09/03/2025 06:35

I just joined the march group and following along in there. My cycle is suppose to start on the 27th march but my period does its own thing so there are no guarantees when it is going to begin. Usually it's late but every do often it will throw a curve ball and start early randomly and it usually takes me by surprise. But I'd say if all goes well il have a egg retrieval in April. Just hopefully we get embryos.

thehype · 09/03/2025 21:33

Thanks for starting this group... I am starting my first IVF cycle and I am due to start on day 2 which should be at the end of March and then egg collection in April.

I am having a freeze all so I won't be able to join in with the transfer chat but it will be good to see how everyone is doing with injections and egg collection Smile

I hope you have a good cycle. Am I allowed to ask why it's a freeze all cycle. Sorry if that's too personal.

waitingforourmiracle · 10/03/2025 10:51

Hey all!!
I'm still waiting for AF, now on day 43 so annoying! Going to be starting later in April than I hoped.
@thehype I'm also a freeze all cycle so we may be transferring around the same time, hopefully June for me!

How's everyone feeling? This is round 2 for me so feel a little more relaxed knowing the process abit more!

@Miraclemuma03 not at all ... I will talk to anyone about it who will listen haha

I believe it's because I had a high number of follicles on my right ovary and (I think) a fairly high AMH. I didn't really ask about it as I was taking it all.

Is this your first cycle?

thehype · 10/03/2025 19:53

@waitingforourmiracle argh that sounds frustrating! Do your cycles tend to be around this long or is it just typical that it's happening now?

Ooh that's good to know that someone else is doing a freeze all. Was that the same for your first cycle if you don't mind me asking?

I'm feeling fairly okay with it all ... there are some times when I feel slightly anxious but I've just been doing countdowns until my next appointment which seems to help. How about everyone else?

BreakfastOats · 10/03/2025 21:05

Hi all! Good to read about your stories! It helps me massively! I’m starting stims at the end of March. I have low AMH at 35 and I’ll be on the short protocol. This is my first round so quite anxious about side effects as I don’t know what to expect and dealing with uncertainty isn’t my strongest quality 😅
My clinic has a massive backlog atm due to an unforeseen issue. My period was a week late last month and this resulted in me missing my spot for treatment. We were warned that this may happen but we remained hopeful so it was still a shock 😳

Hope AF arrives soon for all who are waiting xx

Twofromanotherkind · 10/03/2025 21:07

@thehype I'm exactly the same with the countdowns I'm so done with waiting but just going step by step

Twofromanotherkind · 10/03/2025 21:09

@BreakfastOats I'm exactly the same with anxiety and not knowing what to expect. It's doing my head in. At least once I've done the first cycle I will kind of know what to expect for the next one I suppose!

Twofromanotherkind · 10/03/2025 21:10

@Miraclemuma03 my period is due around 25th march and will be starting stims on day 3 I think? I find it so confusing already. Seems like ages away but sure it will come round soon enough. I'm getting my meds delivered on Wednesday so that feels like another step in the right direction.

BreakfastOats · 10/03/2025 21:17

This is exactly why it helps me reading others stories @Twofromanotherkind! I kind of prepare myself for all possible scenarios.. or at least I think it helps me as I sometimes also catastrophise after reading certain things without knowing or understanding the full background 😅 Do you know which protocol you’ll be on? x

Twofromanotherkind · 10/03/2025 21:19

@BreakfastOats yeah I'm on the short protocol. Is that the same as yours?

BreakfastOats · 10/03/2025 21:25

Yes, same @Twofromanotherkind This was decided because of my low AMH and because I have regular cycles which of course turned irregular last month when I was meant to start IVF haha This month I’m starting a medicine on day 18 of my cycle to avoid surprises. I have no idea what it is but apparently you once you stop it, you get your period! I was reading the paperwork from the clinic before and I’ll be on the 300 dose , although for some reason I thought it’s gonna be 350 🤔 Do you know about your dose?

Twofromanotherkind · 10/03/2025 21:28

Ah wow that's good that you will know when it's coming then. I've always been irregular but since coming off the pill it's been really regular. Will just be my luck it goes to pot now! I'm on the 900 dose Ovaleap pen not sure on the dosage within the pen though. My AMH is on the low side so got told I will be on high dose stims

BreakfastOats · 10/03/2025 21:39

Yes that helps ease my anxiety a bit. Last month I got my period on Friday night and I had to wait till Monday to find out that we can’t start treatment. Waiting was hard!

I googled that pen and it looks more user friendly than the plain injections so that’s something! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you to get your period on time 🤞 @Twofromanotherkind

Twofromanotherkind · 10/03/2025 21:43

@BreakfastOats Oh no!! I can imagine that probably felt like forever. Yes I was surprised actually. What injection are you on then?

BreakfastOats · 10/03/2025 21:51

I remember that menopur was mentioned at my consent appointment but I can’t find it anywhere in the pack they’ve given me.. it just says ‘300iu stimulation pack’. They also said I’ll have to mix two things together but the nurse will tell me how to do that! @Twofromanotherkind

Twofromanotherkind · 10/03/2025 22:05

@BreakfastOats when is your nurse appointment?

BreakfastOats · 10/03/2025 22:22

It’s a week tomorrow purely because I’m starting this medicine. Otherwise with my clinic the first nurse appointment is on day 2 or 3 of your period. I’ve been with this clinic for a while as I was on Letrozole till recently but I was always seeing my consultant, not a nurse.. I kind of miss seeing him, he encouraged me a lot, even when I cried in front of him a few times he was very patient with me 😅 What about you? @Twofromanotherkind

Miraclemuma03 · 11/03/2025 01:37

Well that makes sense. So your high risk of ohss (over hyper stimulation syndrome) or something along those lines its called, could be wrong with name.
No this is not my first round. I have a fair few kids but I have had 3 live births from ivf and one baby born at 4months gestation due to tfmr. Iv done 3 full rounds of ivf and 7 transfers in about 10yrs.

waitingforourmiracle · 11/03/2025 10:54

@thehype my cycles in the past have been irregular but the last 6 months they seemed to sort themselves out but of course this month is different! Yes I had a freeze for my first cycle, I was initially really upset but it was actually quite nice to have the break before transfer, I only ended up with the 1 embryo which unfortunately ended in a miscarriage so hoping for a better outcome this time!!

@BreakfastOats I'm going to ask the clinic if I can take a pill to regulate my cycle for next month, we have a wedding booked in Cyprus towards the end of May so ideally I want my egg collection done before then so I'm not thinking about it the whole time away, we've also done months of prep eg no drinking, supplements, going to the gym and wanted the holiday to be a chance to let our hair down a bit, obviously this is more important but it would of been nice to not think about IVF for the week!

If it helps anyone, I didn't find the injections half as bas as I thought I would, I don't mind needles anyway to be honest but was nervous about injecting myself but it was absolutely fine!

OP posts:
BreakfastOats · 11/03/2025 11:24

I know exactly what you mean re doing prep, it feels like our lives revolve around trying to conceive and it’s just been too much! A holiday in Cyprus sounds nice @waitingforourmiracle hope everything goes to plan and you can take a well deserved break! I’ve done trigger injections for my Letrozole rounds so I’m kind of prepared for the injections. It’s EC and recovery that worries me but it’s helpful to know that injecting every day wasn’t too bad!

waitingforourmiracle · 11/03/2025 13:49

Do you know how long you take your tablets for from day 18? I hope my clinic agree to me doing it! Again for me, I know everyone is different but egg collection was fine, don't remember a thing! Woke up, had a coffee and a biscuit and was on my way, I was really lucky I had no issues afterwards, I took the day off after it but easily could of worked, I think I will this time round! X

PixieJxoxo · 11/03/2025 14:36

Joining along with this thread! I'm on the long protocol FET (after my EC in January 2025), hopefully should be starting downregulation by the end of March and then FET prep in April! It's been a bit of long wait from EC...

Also waiting on CD1 (like others!) and predictably I am very late (even after withdrawing from Provera for a week). Sometimes our bodies just love to troll us!
