Thought I'd start a thread for anyone starting IVF/ICSI in April! This is going to be round 2 for me, I'm currently waiting for my period to start so I can book my pre-treatment appointment and typical, I'm a week late with no signs of AF! Joys of PCOS and irregular cycles!

Be nice to have some company! 💛

Hiya I'm new here and I’m due to start first round of ICSI in April and wanted to find some people who were going through it at the same so we can support each other a bit. I’m 36 and me and my partner have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years, my results have all been ok and there is a slight low number on my husbands results hence we have been given one round (no pressure!) of NHS funded ICSI. I started norethisterone yesterday and have my egg collection (all being well!!) booked for 25 April. Have found the whole process up to this point quite overwhelming and emotional, I'm an anxious baby and although I'm looking forward to this opportunity I am also nervous for the journey!! Would love to connect with some people who are on a similar journey (snipped some of this from a separate April thread I started before seeing this one!!) Xxxx

Welcome everyone 🥰

how’s everyone been?

Not posted for a while, I’ve been quietly keeping an eye on the group. I started stims last Saturday (meriofert) and just started certroride this morning. As mentioned this is our 2nd cycle and feel so much more relaxed this time round. 1st time my emotions were all over the place aswell as my hormones but this time I feel fine (upto now anyway).

@MyQuirkyShaker I’m 37 and we’re going for icsi this time as husband counts were slightly lower than other previously done. We’re doing freeze all this time as I need to book in for hysteroscopy. On my ET on 1st cycle they had an ordeal putting embryo back in due cervix’s being tight and having a dip in 🙈 so going in for little procedure before ET with this round.

im due to have baseline scan Monday 31st and then will find out my date for EC.

take care everyone and wishing you all best of luck xx

thehype · 27/03/2025 12:56

@waitingforourmiracle oh no I didn’t realise any of them will sting … I’m starting ovamex on Saturday so will look forward to that one haha hope they are all going well for you though.

@Twofromanotherkind any signs of it coming yet? I found that going for light runs in the past has shortened my longer cycles although that may been coincidental.

@BakinABaby welcome - Sorry to hear about your previous rounds but wishing you the best of luck for this one.

@Alexm06 welcome - Good to hear that you have your EC date - did you work this out yourself or have the clinic given it to you? I’ve taken 3 injections so far on the short protocol so wondering if I should have been given my EC date by now?

@MyQuirkyShaker Welcome. I’m also doing a first cycle (not ICSI though) NHS funded and feeling the nerves too.

@MrsMc14 oh wow that does sound like an ordeal. How long after your EC will you have the hysteroscopy?

MyQuirkyShaker · 27/03/2025 13:03

@thehype it's so nervy isn't it!! I have fingers and toes crossed for us both! I know we need to try not to get stressed but it's so hard when it's something we want so much! Xxxx

MrsMc14 · 27/03/2025 14:07

@thehype ivf is through nhs but paying private for hysterocopy so we’re not waiting too long. Consultant advised wait time on nhs can be quite a while. We’ve not booked it yet as need to check timelines with clinic. I’m sure I read that egg freeze is min 6 weeks so hopefully get procedure done and then ET not long after 🙏🏻

worldwidetravel2017 · 27/03/2025 14:35

I think 4 me the fear of unknown plays a part
But once injections start and if baseline scan is ok to to go ahead with it all ' - then maybe might get a bit easier

worldwidetravel2017 · 27/03/2025 14:35

By the time of any potential fet ,
We will of been ttc 2 years

waitingforourmiracle · 27/03/2025 15:47

Welcome everyone, to the girl gang no one wants to be a part of! 🙈

@Alexm06 Sorry to hear about your previous cycle and the fact you have to go through it again! Hope your injections have been okay so far!

@MyQuirkyShaker I hate the fact NHS is only round in most areas, I know I should be grateful for the one round but I do think it should be at least two! I understand the feelings, it's very overwhelming but you've got this!

@MrsMc14 this is my 2nd round too and also feel a lot more relaxed about things, maybe because we have some what of an idea of what happens! Hope your injections have been okay!

@thehype haha sorry, they aren't bad! In fact apart from that first one none have stunk after!

@worldwidetravel2017 agreed, I really struggle with the unknown, infertility has defo made me realise I'm abit of a control freak!

Little update from me, I have my first baseline scan today and they were happy with how things were progressing, the lady scanning actually said "wow that's a big ovary" I was like I know I can feel them haha! But lots of follicles which is good, hopefully lots of healthy eggs, back for another scan Saturday and she did mention I could potentially trigger Saturday for EC on Monday, sooner than I thought! I was expecting the back end of the week x

@waitingforourmiracle how exciting. I’m not far behind you. Injections have been fine. Hope your’s have too.

keep fingers crossed and spreading baby dust for us all

xx

Alexm06 · 27/03/2025 17:13

@worldwidetravel2017
ohh do you have a date yet for it?
yeah I bet I was too. I still feel anxious now probably because it’s been soo long haha.

@thehype
this was just the date the clinic gave us. Although said I didn’t need a baseline scan as I had a scan last month which I thought was a bit strange and don’t have one until next Wednesday.
Maybe you will be a couple of days ahead of me. I have my second injection tonight. The other times I did it I don’t remember them giving me a date just when I had a scan they said I was ready and that was it haha.

@waitingforourmiracle
Last night wasn’t too bad apart from the fact I had to leave work to come home and do it as I only found out I would be starting this cycle last Thursday at the nurses appointment so I couldn’t swap any of my shifts.
how are you getting on?

Twofromanotherkind · 27/03/2025 18:04

@thehype started this morning thank god! So I have my baseline phone call with the nurse tomorrow at 12pm hoping she’ll give me the go ahead to start stims on day 3

Miraclemuma03 · 29/03/2025 00:44

Thought I'd update. I am over in the march group but have been popping in and out of here. My period came early and I wasn't able to make it to my clinic for 2 days but thankfully I didn't have to start stims until day 3, so did my first shot in clinic on thursday and today has been day 3 of stims. I have my first scan and bloods on Friday next week which I'm pretty sure is the 4th April, booked in for 7.30am. My clinic is 2hrs away so I will have a couple of nice and early mornings.

That’s exciting how are you finding the stims? I have my first injection today eeeeekkk

Miraclemuma03 · 29/03/2025 06:27

@Twofromanotherkind thats exciting you started.
I'm in a bad mood today and have had a pretty bad headache all day i think trying to merge into a migraine but iv taken some painkillers to keep that from happening. So I dont know if it's just settling in with the meds or I'm just having a bad day but I'm trying to just keep to myself today. Hubby has taken over the household for the day.

Awww bless you. What stims are you on? Just done first injection was ok actually

LincolnshireHollyhock · 29/03/2025 07:40

Hi all,

Hope you don’t mind me joining. I’ve been watching different ivf threads for a while now and it’s inspiring seeing how strong you all are.

My otd is Wednesday next week and it’s felt like the longest 10 days. Feeling some symptoms but I’m not sure if it’s med or just in my head.

Good luck to everyone on this journey x

Miraclemuma03 · 30/03/2025 08:50

@Twofromanotherkind how are you feeling after the first shot. I skimmed through the march thread, did you say your already having some hormonal symptoms? I started on puregon and adding in orgalutran tomorrow morning.

Yeah feeling very tired and having abdo pain and intermittent diarrhoea. The joys!!

Miraclemuma03 · 31/03/2025 02:38

@Twofromanotherkind that's crazy. Hopefully that all calms down after a couple of days. I just seem to be frustrated, always in a bad mood, I can't shake it. Trying so hard not to always lose my temper, that's not me usually, I'm pretty stable in normal circumstances hahahaha

MrsMc14 · 31/03/2025 11:47

@Miraclemuma03 is this your 1st round?
I felt the same on my 1st round. I’m on higher dose this time and I’ve felt fine, maybe a tiny bit snappy for silly things but to be expected suppose. I was so emotional on my 1st round.

I had my 2nd baseline scan this morning and was telling the nurse how much relaxed we’ve been this time. Just took it in our stride. I’m now ready for EC so just waiting for a call from clinic to confirm day to go in this week 👏🏻 is anyone else due to EC soon?

I hope all your symptoms ease ladies. Don’t be too hard on yourselves. Take care.

💗

worldwidetravel2017 · 31/03/2025 12:20

How did u deal with keeping meds in fridge between the 2 and 8 oc ?

Yes im anxiety girl

Considering amazon priming a smaller fridge
So that fridge is just opened when someone checks temp
Or gets meds

Rather than every time someone opens it 4 milk or food etc

worldwidetravel2017 · 31/03/2025 12:21

Someone online i 'knw ' had their cycle cancelled after their first scan..

Nervous to start our injections this week

MrsMc14 · 31/03/2025 13:33

@worldwidetravel2017 I didn’t have to keep mine in the fridge. Must be because different medication? We gad to keep away from radiators and windows.

why did they have there’s cancelled? Was it postponed or completely cancelled?
