Thought I'd start a thread for anyone starting IVF/ICSI in April! This is going to be round 2 for me, I'm currently waiting for my period to start so I can book my pre-treatment appointment and typical, I'm a week late with no signs of AF! Joys of PCOS and irregular cycles!

Be nice to have some company! 💛

Have to do it myself have no choice! Luckily I'm a nurse but still different injecting yourself I think. Once I get the first one out the way it'll be fine

Sorry if this is being rude or insensitive but are you going through ivf to become a single mum? I'm only new to this site so I don't know previous posts or anything. I have no judgement at all. I was a single mum for many years.

Twofromanotherkind · 13/03/2025 06:41

@Miraclemuma03 yes I am. It’s actually really empowering doing it alone. There are quite a few of us- I have met up with other single mums by choice in my area. It’s not as unusual as I thought

Miraclemuma03 · 13/03/2025 07:04

@Twofromanotherkind i think doing ivf alone is extremely brave and empowering and I followed a couple of woman on YouTube who were trying to become mums as single woman, its very hard to find people who are willing to upload their journey to social media which is understandable as social media can be cruel but I definitely think it is very brave especially taking comtrol of your family planning and going through hormone treatment alone.

Twofromanotherkind · 13/03/2025 07:11

@Miraclemuma03 thank you I am documenting on instagram but not with my identity. Mainly because I don’t want everyone knowing I’m doing ivf just in case it doesn’t work etc.

Miraclemuma03 · 13/03/2025 07:18

@Twofromanotherkind that's extremely understandable. We just don't tell people what we are doing. We get a lot of criticism and people around us think they have a right to an opinion on how many children we should have and how many times we should do ivf. So we stay very private. I mean we have family members who don't understand why we take our kids on holidays or out to dinner or theme parks and so forth, apparently kids don't deserve that sort of treatment. We are very much the black sheep of our families. So we go through our life alone just on our own. Our last fet didn't work and we miscarried and when we told people their response was " oh well now you can put this nonsense behind you because your getting too old to keep doing this". Among a lot of other opinionated responses. No one said I'm sorry for your loss. Besides my best friend and my sister inlaw. That was the first and last time we let people into our story.

Miraclemuma03 · 13/03/2025 07:19

@Twofromanotherkind sorry I sort of went on a rant. I apologise

BreakfastOats · 13/03/2025 08:05

@Miraclemuma03 It sounds like you are great parents and your kids have an amazing time growing up with you! I can only imagine the heartbreak you went through when you miscarried. It must take a lot of courage to try again for a baby which shows how much you want to expand your family! I’m sorry to hear how cruel people have been. Sometimes I wonder what made people harden like that, the human nature is to be compassionate, not cruel 🤷🏻‍♀️

MrsMc14 · 13/03/2025 11:48

Hi,
I’d like to follow this group 😊
This will be our 2nd round. I’m due to finish norethiserone tomorrow and having my 1st baseline scan 20th. Feeling ready to get going this time. 1st time felt abit apprehensive like I’m sure everyone is on their 1st round.

Will look forward to hearing about your journeys and wish you all the best of luck 💪💙🩷 xx

waitingforourmiracle · 13/03/2025 12:22

Sorry to hear you guys have had such awful comments from people around! Anyone going through this journey is so brave and deserving!

@MrsMc14 welcome! I'm also on round 2, how have you found norethiserone? My period is just not coming this month so the clinic have wrote me a prescription to pick some up, if I've not come on before the time I get it I need to ring the clinic and they'll advise when to take it, hopefully not too much longer and I could start stims sooner! X

Hi everyone 👋🏻

Just jumping into this thread as I have had the go ahead to start our first round of IVF in early April! For a bit of background…. We’ve been TCC for 2 years, I have known PCOS with AMH 43. We’ve tried all sorts, clomid, leterozole, diet, weight loss! You name it we’ve tried it and no pink lines or tiny toes to show for it! So IVF is our next move. We will probably end up doing a frozen transfer due to my OHSS risk. Any tips, tricks or general advice and support is welcomed! I’m glad we have this little portal to share all of our experiences and give each of us the support we need. Good luck to you all ladies 💗🙏🏻

MrsMc14 · 13/03/2025 12:42

@waitingforourmiracle I’ve been find on norethiserone. I had it 1st time round too. Hopefully you get your period soon so things can start moving for you x

waitingforourmiracle · 13/03/2025 14:00

@Hopesforamiracle welcome! I also have PCOS and AMH 43! We also have male factor so double whammy!! My main bit of advice is take every stage as it comes because it's a rollercoaster! X

@Miraclemuma03no worries. Omg people are unbelievable at some comments they make. Literally I would never say things like that. Don’t know when people became so heartless

Twofromanotherkind · 13/03/2025 16:43

Welcome @Hopesforamiracleand @MrsMc14

Hopesforamiracle · 13/03/2025 17:23

@waitingforourmiraclethank you 💗! Ahhh what’s the chances of a matching AMH! How did your first round go? Did you get many blasts? I’ve had my protocol today so I’ll be doing 150iu meriofert from day 2 then granirelix from day 6 I think I’m on the low dose stuff do the AMH though! Praying I avoid OHSS but have a sneaky feeling it will just get me anyway 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank you @Twofromanotherkind How are you getting on? xx

Twofromanotherkind · 13/03/2025 18:19

@Hopesforamiracle good thanks just waiting on AF now hopefully will start on the stims in a few weeks time 🤞🏻

BreakfastOats · 13/03/2025 18:20

Hey @Hopesforamiracle! You have done so much during your fertility journey! You are definitely due some luck now so fingers crossed for you (and the other ladies) to avoid OHSS and get a beautiful baby! My AMH is non existent compared to yours (5😅) so I’ll be on double the dose they put you on! Hope it wakes up my sleepy ovaries. I did get 5 large follicles during one of my letrozole cycles so I am hoping for 5-7 eggs 🤞

Miraclemuma03 · 13/03/2025 22:26

Twofromanotherkind · 13/03/2025 16:43

Welcome @Hopesforamiracleand @MrsMc14

Also want to say welcome @Hopesforamiracle and @MrsMc14

Hopesforamiracle · 14/03/2025 09:12

@Twofromanotherkind fingers crossed Aunt Flo makes an appearance soon! Isn’t it mad how much we vary between dreading it coming and then rushing it along and praying to see it so we can start the meds! TTC is a total head wobble!

@waitingforourmiracleoooo! I’m sure your ovaries will do their thing with a budge! Get those little eggs laid! I’ve never felt more like a chicken in my life 🤣 just waiting month on month for my little eggs! That’s good going on the leterozole though!! I was on 5mg and only had 2 grow! I do worry I might get ‘under stimulated’ and not produce enough…. BUT I have to remind myself that I am not the expert and just leave it in the hands of the Drs now! Are you guys doing NHS or private? We are with Care fertility xx

BreakfastOats · 14/03/2025 09:45

Hi @MrsMc14 it’s so good that you feel ready for it! This is my first one and I’m so worried! Did it take a week for your period to arrive after stopping the medication last time? I’ll start taking something next week, probably the same pill you’re on I guess but I don’t know much about it. Hope your scan goes well next week x

@Hopesforamiracle I try to remind myself that it only takes one egg and one sperm to stay somewhat positive! Right now it’s all in our medical teams’ hands and feeling out of control is the worst 🫠 but they know what they’re doing! We’re with a private clinic, my GP made a referral for me in the summer but the waiting time for the first appointment with the fertility clinic is one year in our area and we didn’t want to wait x

MrsMc14 · 14/03/2025 13:12

@BreakfastOats try not worry too much, these groups are great if need any advise and support. After finishing tabs later today, i
may have a bleed in a few days (took 6 days last round) but some don’t bleed which they say is normal too. Hopefully after my scan next Thursday I’ll get a date to start stims.

Are you on any medication atm or waiting for appointments? xx

waitingforourmiracle · 14/03/2025 14:06

@Hopesforamiracle my first round wasn't the best to be honest, I had 21 eggs collected, 11 fertilised, 11 good on my day 3 update then dropped to just the 1 "poor graded" embryo which I had a frozen transfer for and did get pregnant but unfortunately at my first clinic scan they told me I'd had a missed miscarriage and that was a whole other nightmare! But hoping for better results this time, we've both really tried to live healthier and have been a lot more strict with supplements and cutting out alcohol I didn't get any OHSS symptom last time so hoping this round is the same!

@BreakfastOats fingers crossed you respond well to medication and you get some healthy eggs!

I paid our bill yesterday and it honestly made me feel sick!!! But it's done now and hopefully it'll be worth it! I'm waiting for my prescription to arrive in the post to get my norethiserone so hopefully start that in the coming weeks and then start stims, wish I had a date but at least I know it's getting closer!

BreakfastOats · 14/03/2025 17:14

Thank you all for the encouragement, I’m also waiting to start norethiserone on Tuesday, not taking any other medication atm. I wasn’t meant to but it gives us certainty that we can start treatment this month, as my clinic is really busy atm and it’s first come first served once you get your period. We’re also paying for it privately, just take my money 💰 all for sliver of hope! 😅

Hopesforamiracle · 14/03/2025 17:49

@waitingforourmiracleoh gosh I’m so sorry the first round wasn’t as you hoped. They are my worries too tbh. I think PCOS can give us poor egg quality can’t it! I’ve certainly cut down all alcohol and barley drink now! And I’ve been on zita wests egg health bundle for about 4 months now! Costs a fortune but what doesn’t in this game! Fingers crossed that does some good! Hopefully these eggs are feeling fighting fit and ready to make you a baby! Got everything crossed for you!

@BreakfastOats ahhh yeh I guess they can plan better! I think northisterone for me was a good 5-6days! I have also taken provera and that was only 2 days! I’ll have to see what nothisterone does for me this time! I start that the 25th March! Fingers crossed yours comes soon to start the stims! I also get you with the NHS waiting, ours is two years from funding approval so we’ve gone private too! Can’t be playing this game any longer than we need to! X
