Hi all I thought I would create a thread for our BFPs after IVF.

A bit about me: 34 years old (35 next month)
2x failed transfers and 1x failed to thaw
BFP with this little blub. Scan date 7th of February (will be 6wks1day)🎊
Here's to continuous panicking 🤪

Oh nice one, thanks for setting up! :)

35 years old.
First cycle with successful fresh transfer last year in May but mmc at 10 weeks.
This time a frozen transfer and have a scan lined up for 5th Feb when I'll be 5wks, 6days.
Hopefully there'll be many more of us on this spiralling train of anxiety! hahah

It really is! Forever having that niggle of worry but I think that just comes with the ivf journey! Eeek itl be a little before mine. I'm so tired and hungry every few hours 😩 and like clockwork I wake up 3am for a wee. Don't know what's supposed to be normal or what's because of the medication!

Hi,

Amazing, thanks for setting this up. No one around me really knows the worries around IVF and that it doesn’t just end with a BFP - so I am definitely on the anxiety train.

My first transfer was not successful last year so this is my second - I am 5weeks and 1 day I think! I had a IVIg infusion this time due to autoimmunity issues.

My scan is on the 5th Feb too when I will be 7 weeks. However, I have another scan booked in prior to the IVIg infusion on the 31st Jan so I’m relieved it’s sooner rather than later.

Its hard isnt it, I got a congratulations today from my nurse and I just felt like a bit of a fraud, as it feels like still such a journey of everything going right ahead!

Glad you got some scans booked in soon. Hopefully give a bit of reassurance even if its for a short time!

I think it's best to have a group for BFPs after IVF as nobody seems to understand otherwise. Like I have this sense of dread at times and rush to the toilet to wipe and see if I'm bleeding. Don't know when that will go away. Aw that's good to hear and yes atleast it can give you that reassurance x how have you felt otherwise?

Hi how is everyone feeling? I couldn't sleep well last night and then woke up for the loo at 3am and couldn't sleep. I was starving too at this point 😩
What has everyone been doing about work? Have you let your work place know?

I get you! The congratulations kinda feels preliminary doesn’t it?

Have you had a lot of symptoms? I’m anxious because I don’t feel ‘pregnant’ as the I’m not getting a lot of symptoms and the ones I am getting can be explained by the progesterone.

OMG I've been driving myself crazy doing the same thing every time I go to the toilet, even when there's no blood I'm still anxious.

I’ve been ok, thanks. Just can’t seem to get a control on the feeling of dread and preparing myself for the worst. What about you?

I’ve been struggling with sleep and I’m hungry all the time too but think that’s just because I’m stressed me.

Work is keeping me busy and I’m away next week so I am grateful for the distraction but when I come back I’ll have so much more to catch up on. my manager knows just because she’s been a part of the journey with me and is super supportive so it makes getting the time off for appointments easier.

What about you? Have you told anyone yet? Found anything to keep you distracted until the scan?

roowoop · 24/01/2025 16:09

Hear hear on that feeling of dread! My symptoms massively come and go. All pregnancies are so different that Im trying not to overthink it too much. The most disruptive has been the feeling of exhaustion. But like you say whats the pregnancy and whats the meds! But also, Ive been sleeping so badly on top of that that it could be that too hahaha!

Im also trying to focus on work, its a good distraction! Are you going away on holiday next week @Feelingmindful ? Thatll be a lovely break from the stress if so!

Most people around me know that we've been doing the whole 'ivf thing' and about the mmc last year but only some close friends and family know about this transfer atm. tbh Ive found the support quite nice and its felt better for us to bring people along the way, feels like we have a village haha. Although havent told work yet, ill probs save that for after the 12 week scan if im lucky enough to get there! But I work at a desk all day, if I was doing something more manual I would deffo let them know earlier

My sister knows but she doesn't know it's a confirmed positive I will tell her after my scan. Had to tell my manager today.
Some5imes I'm a little excited and we'll said to partner shall we tell family at the 12/14 week mark and he said no. I don't know how hrs counting but he wants to tell them closer to 3rd trimester 🤦‍♀️ he clearly doesn't understand how the body will be changing and how certain things you just can't keep for that long. I mean am I crazy saying let's tell at the 14 week mark or should I just wait like he wants. It kind of kills my little hopes and dreams because I just think wait what?

OP posts:
Feelingmindful · 25/01/2025 22:54

@Sherr33 Not sure how he plans to keep it hidden until the 3rd trimester. I’m with you waiting until you feel ready to tell.

My husband can’t seem to come to an agreement on when we tell people either. If it was up to him he would tell the world after the first scan but I’m sceptical about telling people outside my close circle so soon. I had to stop him from telling anyone when we first found out.

The excitement of finally looking at baby stuff is a whole other level! I’ve already got the baby’s first 20 years planned!

I am definitely bloated. I take the lubion injections so I think that may be causing it - not sure how long I will be able to hide it for at this rate; providing all goes well.

@roowoop I wish I was going away for work but I’m going up north for work. I stupidly changed roles just before I started treatment which involved having go abroad for 3 weeks next month but thankfully my manager put a stop to that before she even knew about the BFP.

Ahh the sleep, I’ve never been able to have a lie in before but somehow managed to sleep until noon!

It’s great that you have amazing support around you. Makes such a difference!

The bloat is making me look further along than I am!. I've been fretting this morning because I don't have certain symptoms that I've been feeling up until this point and I've woken up to a little cluster of cold sores 😭 i need to stop thinking the worst but it's so hard. I just wish I knew everything was okay and developing as it should.

Afternoon folks! Sorry for the delay, thanks for setting up @Sherr33, was away for the weekend.

I would like to join please!

37 years old (38 next week)
1 CP in September, before we started IVF. We're doing ICSI NHS (we get 3 rounds in Sussex).
First fresh failed, this is our FET, with a better grade embryo, which went to Day 6.
Scan date 6th Feb!

monicabella1234 · 27/01/2025 13:00

@Sherr33 hello!

I am still up and down with this symptom worrying too. I haven't tested since Thursday. Testing once a week on the advice of our clinic, up until scan. So it's test day this Thursday.

We just had a weekend away, with 15 mates, and it was very difficult not to say anything, but we've decided not to tell anyone till 12 weeks.

Sherr33 · 27/01/2025 15:50

Ooo we would have been scan buddies but because of work have to wait an extra day. I think I'm trying to be as positive as possible. My partner though is more cautious but I feel like that then rubs off and I go in little miss doubt mode. Today I've been fretting because I've got cold sores and I can't feel any of the tugging cramping I had been feeling up until this point, didn't wake up for my 3am wee or feel as hungry thus morning. Had less of an appetite. We both just stressed out n over thought things. I ended up doing a test and blub is still there. But I now can't wait for next week.

Omg I'm sooo excited for you! Haha mine is next week Friday. It would have been Thursday but couldn't get time off work. I wonder if we can record or take pictures. I would honestly love to. Has your clinic said what happens after or are you waiting to see what they say after scan.

Eek! The countdown is ON! I don’t see why not, I’ll probs just ask for a scan pic. If all goes well anyway 😅

So last time after this 6 week viability scan, I got sent to the EPU for another scan a week later because I was measuring smaller (which ended up being fine at that scan as it was just early).

But after this 6 week scan I would basically be discharged from the IVF conception unit and into the hands of the EPU/ normal procedure. Which I then self referred to the hospital for a midwife.

If they don’t recommend that the EPU scans me again this time, I’m gonna ask them if they can refer me anyway. After the MMC last year it’s put the fear into me. If they can’t refer me to the EPU I’m gonna book in a private scan for a couple weeks later, which would then be 8 weeks.
