Anyone starting next month? I'll be on my 4th cycle. I've just bought 2 cycles with manchester fertility and it will be me done. I'm 36, have a low amh of 5.2 and afc 10. I'm doing the estrogen priming protocol so will take estrogen tablets for 7 days starting from day 21. I then take 450 meriofert. I'm not sure whether I am excited or nervous. It has been a year since my last cycle and I'm going to struggle with another loss but wanted to get started again also. No children yet and over 3 years trying. Have blocked tubes and endo xx

Hi there, I’m starting my first cycle in January (although probably won’t start stims til towards the end of the month). I’m 34, ttc for 2 years with unexplained infertility so really no idea what sort of results to expect from cycle 1… I’m hoping that we’ll at least get more of an idea what the problem is, however the cycle goes. I’m doing short protocol, not sure exactly which meds but picked them all up from the pharmacy last week. Any tips on the injections etc. very welcome!

I’m so sorry to hear about your losses. With three cycles under your belt I imagine it’s been a tough journey to get here. Are you doing the same clinic/protocol as for previous cycles?

Thanks for replying.
Only thing I can really say about the injections is that they are not that bad at all. I didnt mind doing them and I don't generally like needles. Have you had your amh or afc tested?
This protocol will be different from the last 3. The first 2 were at create fertility and consisted of mild stims. The 3rd was at the hewitt centre with a standard dose of stims. This time they are going all out with high dose stims. Hopefully it does the trick! Xx

Hi all

We are going to be doing our first ivf round soon

Sending luck to all

Geordienewbie · 17/12/2024 19:39

We’re starting our first round in Jan as well. I’m on the long protocol so I started nafarelin nasal sprays yesterday and should be starting stims in the second week of Jan. It’d be nice to chat to others who are going through it at the same time 😊

worldwidetravel2017 · 17/12/2024 19:44

I think we are going to be on short protocol but will know more in a bit

Blueskycat · 17/12/2024 20:47

@Nobodyknowsitall5 that’s good to hear about the injections. I have PCO (but not PCOS) so higher AMH and afc. A bit worried about OHSS but I guess that’s why we’re on shorter protocol.
I really hope higher stims do the trick for you this time!

Sending good luck to all of you!

Sell123 · 17/12/2024 21:59

I am starting on the 20th of January. Good luck everyone!

Allnew2021 · 17/12/2024 22:24

I am also due to start IVF in January. We have been trying for just over 4 years. In 2021 I had a molar pregnancy and then an ectopic pregnancy but nothing since then. After several investigations on the NHS to be told it was unexplained and I would be referred for IVF we still hadn't heard anything after 11 months so we decided to go privately (since I'm now 39 we don't want any further delays). The private clinic suspected uterine adhesions due to persistently thin lining on scans, I finally had a hysteroscopy to remove the adhesions and 3 months of hormone treatment to help repair my lining, the clinic have finally given me the go ahead to start IVF in the new year. I'm excited but also nervous about the whole thing!

Geordienewbie · 18/12/2024 12:07

Sorry, I meant to say thanks @Nobodyknowsitall5 for setting up the thread and so sorry to hear about your losses. Everything crossed for a positive January for all of us.

Hi everyone! We are also due to start at the start of Jan 🙌🏻 I’m on Northisterone currently to induce a bleed as my periods are irregular. This will be our third time doing fresh IVF with ICSI and I’m on a slightly different protocol to try and get more eggs as our fertilisation rate is quite low. I have also been diagnosed with an auto immune condition since the last round and I’m hoping the meds and inflammation don’t interfere with the cycle.

Our fertilisation rate is low also. I normally get 5 eggs and have had 2 fertilise each time. What protocol are you on now?

Good luck to everyone
We've got this xxxx

Oh we are almost the same! The first time we only got one but the last time we had 7 collected but only 5 were usable and 2 had fertilised. I was in tears for 3 days waiting on the entomologist to ring me back as the rate is usually 50% day 3 and 50% day 5 but both of them made it to day 5 which was an absolute miracle ❤️
We are doing the short protocol with Pergoveris and Cetrotide. What about you?

FrostedFlake · 22/12/2024 09:57

@Nobodyknowsitall5 forgot to mention that we have done the AOA the last time and I think it might have made a small difference but it’s hard to know.

I'm on max dose merifort 450mg but I'm oestrogen priming from day 21 on my cycle before the ivf treatment. I have burselin aswell but I'm not really sure what that is for... so I don't actually know of it is short or long protocol as I have that much meds.

I actually wish I could just start tomorrow!

What’s the oestrogen for ahead of the cycle? Is it to help with the lining?
when are you due to start? Are you taking Burselin ahead of stims?
I usually either take Burserelin or Gonasi to stop the dominant egg from releasing towards the end of stims.

Nobodyknowsitall5 · 22/12/2024 12:35

I think it is so that the eggs grow at the same rate. I start that on day 21 of next cycle and take for 7 days. Then stims will start end of jan/start of feb, just depending on when my period starts.

That must be the reason why I have the burselin then. I've never had it before so that's really good to know actually. What is your amh and afc? Mine is low which is why I'm on such a high dose xx

Im also due to start Pergoveris followed by Cetrotide. Oh Im clueless when it comes to this, I would have assumed any bleed is the start of a new cycle. Does it need to be a certain amount or for a certain number of days? Did they induce the bleed with medication?
Hope the call goes well and you are given the go ahead ☺️🙏❤️

Oh gosh, that’s a lot! Sorry to hear that! Do you usually get full on periods? There’s so much to learn about fertility and the human body, it’s fascinating. Just wish ours worked better 🥹
