Anyone doing FET/IVF in November 2024?✨

Hello MN

I started a thread for ivf in September but ended up having a freeze all cycle and lots of people on said thread have moved on to BFPs etc. Due to have FET at the start of November so hoping to chat to others in a similar situ ☺️

Bit about me: first ever round, been trying for 2 years, have blocked tubes and have 14 embryos in the freezer thanks to successful egg collection in September.

Sending baby dust and good vibes to one and all!!✨✨✨

Hi @MrsBP15 I'm here! Thanks for tagging me 😁

MrsBP15 · 19/10/2024 09:44

Yay @Painty04 🎉 glad it worked! How are you doing? I’ve had a really shit week mentally but off work for a week now so feeling a little better. Plus had some therapy and acupuncture this week so that’s definitely helped. How are you getting on? Period due for me on Tuesday, let’s see if it actually shows on time (which it normally does)

I'm sorry to hear you've had a tough week 😔 sounds like it's the perfect time for you to get away and relax. Hopefully your period comes on time so you can get the next step underway 🤞

I'm good, it's been a really busy week but I also had acupuncture on Thurs, which really helped! It's just a waiting game now, my period is due next Saturday, I've got the meds, I've had the chat with the nurse. It's all just a wait and see and continue to try and be good with diet and vitamins 😂

Emerald1986 · 19/10/2024 20:07

Hi! I'm due to start my first round of ICSI with my cycle due to start in early November. Had my chat with the doctor and got my chat with the nurse later this week!

tpeas · 19/10/2024 20:30

Hi, I've started downregulation before first ICSI cycle in November 😊

Thatslifethatsit · 19/10/2024 20:57

I’m starting process next week provided cycle on schedule will be icsi
Have 1 DC from ivf still feeling a bit nervous
can’t believe how many add ons there are! Offered no add ons last time under nhs
Baby dust for all

Emerald1986 · 19/10/2024 21:07

Ooh that's interesting, what sort of add ons have you been offered @Thatslifethatsit ? We are with the nhs so no add ons. I'm 38 and no children so a bit worried we've left it too late!

Thatslifethatsit · 19/10/2024 21:15

@Emerald1986 we are the same age definitely not too late!! Just look after yourself and high protein diet is the recommendation by my consultants (I see whoever is available and they all seem to say the same thing). Had my little one at 37. Add ons are embryoglue, genetic testing pgt-a, better incubator for embryos so less disruption by embryologists £5k could more than buy a fet!

Confusedddddddd · 19/10/2024 21:52

I should be starting stims around mid-November if my calculations are correct.

First IVF cycle for us, I've been pregnant twice before. First pregnancy (took 6 cycles) resulted in my 2.5 yo, second (accidental) was a ruptured ectopic, and been TTC about 20 cycles since then and nothing so decided to move onto IVF, as losing my tube seems to be the reason we're not getting pregnant.
I'm really hoping as the reason is the tube and mechanical, but still working on doing what I can to improve egg quality.

MrsBP15 · 19/10/2024 22:06

Thanks @Painty04 im certainly feeling better than I was. I think work is stressing me out and perhaps hormonal as period should be on the way (I hope it is). I must say I’m finding it harder to keep up with the diet stuff this time around 🫠

hi at @Emerald1986 welcome! We had ICSI though it wasn’t planned as they didn’t pick anything up in the previous SA. Turned out it was worth it though! Same age as you so really hoping it’s not too late 😕

@tpeas welcome! Another ICSI! How are you finding down reg? Hope all good!

@Thatslifethatsit welcome welcome! And another ICSI how exciting! We went for embryoscope though I think that’s the only add on we’ve had so far other than the unplanned ICSI.

hello @Confusedddddddd were you on the last thread we had going or have I made that up? I’m hoping my reason for not getting pregnant is my blocked tubes and bypassing them will work. So far so good as have embryos in the freezer!

Ive done Egg Collection just not transfer yet so if anyone has questions about any of that I’d be happy to try and answer 😊

Emerald1986 · 19/10/2024 22:17

Thanks @Thatslifethatsit . High protein diet isn't a problem as I've previously had weight loss surgery and the post surgery diet prioritises protein.

@MrsBP15 ours is planned icsi because it looks like the biggest factor for us in not getting pregnant seems to be male factor. Although my AMH is around 7 so could also be contributing.

CakePigeon30 · 19/10/2024 23:56

Hiya.

I'll be starting down regulation next week, stims in November and because I'm long protocol won't be having egg collection until first week of Dec.

This is my second cycle. Lucky to get three cycles on NHS where I live. First cycle only two eggs retrieved which was disappointing because I had around 14 follicles. Both fertilised but neither made it past day 3 so didn't end up getting transferred.

MrsBP15 · 20/10/2024 07:52

Welcome @CakePigeon30 when did you do your first cycle? I’ve done EC on short protocol but no transfers yet as I was at risk of OHSS so it was freeze all. Sending you so much baby dust for December!

OP posts:
Thatslifethatsit · 20/10/2024 07:59

@MrsBP15 thanks for the welcome - icsi seems to be the route a lot of people go down. Hope work doesn’t keep stressing you out and it calms down
@Emerald1986 i like my protein but giving up the carbs is hard 😂 no porridge or soaked oat breakfasts or pasta lunch 😂
@CakePigeon30 I used to worry about how many eggs as people will say they got loads of eggs however it’s all about quality

Does anyone struggle with no gym/fitness during the process?

CakePigeon30 · 20/10/2024 09:37

@MrsBP15

Had my first egg collection in July. As I'm only long protocol, it takes about 8 weeks from start to finish so had started downregulation the end of May.

Just a heads up as I know you are waiting for your period for FET. I had my withdrawal bleed after stopping the progesterone and then my next period was two weeks late - normally smack bang on time. Consultant said it was normal to be late. It's been back to normal since though.

Painty04 · 20/10/2024 10:04

@CakePigeon30 I'm sorry to hear about the outcome of your first cycle. Wishing you luck with your long protocol and December collection 🤞

Really appreciate the heads up as I'm a few days behind @MrsBP15 waiting for my period ahead of FET. I had spotting on CD15 and was honestly convinced my period was coming 2 weeks early, I had all the symptoms! It was only when I rang my clinic they told me it wasn't unusual for IVF drugs to have an effect on my period. But I had no idea before then, hadn't even considered it and was a bit freaked out 😂 Turns out, nothing came of it and I'm still waiting but it's good to hear from others like yourself and be forewarned these experiences are normal 🙏

Autumn245 · 20/10/2024 11:27

Hi everyone 👋
I will be doing a FET towards the end of November, we have 3 frozen embryos from an IVF cycle in 2022 (which gave us our daughter, now 22 months) so just waiting on cycle day 1 in 2 weeks time and can start the process of scans etc. I'll be doing a natural modified cycle, so get trigger injection and progesterone before transfer

Confusedddddddd · 20/10/2024 12:59

@MrsBP15 yes I was as I was expecting to start in September. Then turned out I was a few kg over the bmi limit, lost the weight now just waiting for my period to start today/tomorrow.

Thatslifethatsit · 20/10/2024 18:12

@Autumn245 hi 👋 I have 1 frozen so panicking and having an icsi round to hope we have some more embryos
@Confusedddddddd well done on getting to where you need and 🤞 for start of your round this week 😊

pinksheetss · 20/10/2024 21:17

Hey hoping I can join in also :)

Did IVF back in 2021, had a freeze all and then frozen transfer which resulted in my daughter born jan 2022.
Have three embryos left in storage and just started the process now for trying for another.
Had consultation and due nurses appointment on Thursday. Have signed all forms electronically so it's just a video appointment on Thursday.
Really nervous about going again and reading up too much and already talked myself into thinking it won't work even though there's no reason to think that but you know what this process is like and the over thinking!

I am assuming that after my nurses appointment I will start based on next period which would be star of Nov so transfer potentially 24th ish Nov.

MrsBP15 · 21/10/2024 09:32

Thank you @Thatslifethatsit I’m off for a week now so that will obviously help but I do need to see how I go over the coming weeks.

@CakePigeon30 thank you so much. I did ask the doctor when we last spoke and she said it shouldn’t be delayed but the last thread I was on quite a few people were waiting for their period and were late by about a week. I’m due tomorrow and am normally clockwork but there doesn’t seem to be any sign. We’ll see, I’ll try not to go mad until then! Sending you lots of luck for your collection when it comes.

welcome @Autumn245 hope you’re well. How exciting to have your transfer coming up. Did you do a natural cycle for your daughter as well? Sending lots of luck your way!

@Confusedddddddd i thought I’d seen your name before! That’s great that you lost the weight, well done! Do you mind me asking what your bmi was before? I’m going private because I don’t get any rounds with the nhs (boo hiss) and they don’t factor in bmi. Mine is about 32 at the moment. Fingers crossed your period comes soon, keep us posted!

@pinksheetss welcome welcome! And how exciting that you are getting close to transfer. This has been my first round of ivf and I was really fine for a few months but recently have really struggled. I made the decision to go to a fertility therapist and it has really helped. If that’s not possible then I highly recommend the Headspace app as they have a fertility series in there and I’ve found that really helpful. I also can’t do without my yoga but that’s just me! Of course talking on here can really help too, here if you ever want to talk 😊

Confusedddddddd · 21/10/2024 11:01

@MrsBP15 it was around 36 - it needed to get it under 35. I knew I was close to the limit but thought as I'm paying and bmi doesn't appear to be the cause of my issues (successful textbook pregnancy and birth/easy conception when it was closer to 40, and second accidental conception not long ago).

Magix86 · 21/10/2024 11:28

Hi! Can I join please? This is our first time going through ivf. I'm on CD4 today and due to collect meds from the pharmacy. I think I start meds on day 21 and apparently have been booked in for a provisional egg collection but they haven't told us the date yet 😅 we're on short protocol and we'll be doing ICSI as using donor sperm

Any tips from anyone would be really appreciated! Especially with diet, exercise etc. I'm taking supplements and have been doing acupuncture for months. I feel like I've read so much that I'm getting a little lost in it all. Really glad to see this thread started and hoping it's a lucky one for us all!

Confusedddddddd · 21/10/2024 14:18

@Magix86 welcome! Which supplements are you taking out of interest?

We're also first timers for IVF though we should be long protocol - they should be getting back to me with treatment plan in a couple of days.

I've also been having acupuncture for months now, I don't think it's made any difference fertility wise but it's definitely helped my stress levels so sticking with it.

Diet and exercise wise, I had a bit of weight to lose before staring so been on a low carb diet, I'm planning on sticking with it through IVF as it's changed my luteal phase from 10 days to 12-13, and my skin had gotten much clearer as well so I think it's helping me hormonally.
For exercise, I'm planning on low impact regular exercise- basically whatever I would do pregnant - swimming, walking, Pilates that sort of thing. I'm also running a few times a week at the moment but I think I'll pause that when I get to stims.
