TWW Fresh Embryo Transfer Symptoms

LimeTurtle · 17/09/2024 13:43

Hi everyone !

I am currently 5 days past a 5 day fresh embryo transfer. I've had slight cramping and lower back pain since day 1 as well as very vivid dreams.
Could these be symptoms that the embryo has implanted ? Or just a side effect of my progesterone pessaries.

We have male infertility factor and my AMH levels and lining were good when I had the transfer. My period is due a week today so I'm now worrying it's just my period coming early before my official test day which would be odd as I'm very regular!
:(

Just feeling a little lonely in this two week wait as I've never wanted something so much !
Any success stories with similar symptoms would be great ?

Thank you in advance 😊

Hi @LimeTurtle am almost in the exact same boat except mine was my third transfer with my last little frozen embryo, I also 5dp5dt so we can countdown together. Symptoms are always tricky as the meds can mimic pregnancy symptoms, plus after 2 other transfers I know we all desperately want this to work so you can't help but be very conscious of every little thing. I'm struggling this tww as it's so much pressure on this last little embryo but I hope its third time lucky. Is this your first round? sending you lots of luck too and hope this round results kn a beautiful little baby!🤞🌈💕

Hi!

Ah wow. Wishing you all the luck in the world ! They say 3rd time lucky so I'll have all my fingers crossed for you 😊 yes it's my first round ! And we only managed to have one lower grade embryo frozen so I suppose I can be thankful for that if I am successful ! Did you take progesterone pessaries for your previous transfers ? Was your period delayed at all ? Did you always make it to test day with no period?

Thanks 💓

@LimeTurtle thank you so much, everything crossed for the both of us eh 💕🤞

That's good that you have one more in the freezer, well done for getting through your first round! it's a bloody hard emotional ride 💕

Yep progesterone pessaries 5 days before transferring and if successful I'll have to carry on til 16 weeks of pregnancy. They aren't much fun but I'll do whatever it takes if it gets us there. Never really had any spotting or anything in previous rounds, even with my first fresh cycle which resulted in a chemical pregnancy. My period didn't arrive on them til a few days after stopping the progesterone, so if you are having some cramps it could be a good sign or symptom of the meds. When's your OTD? mines the 23rd 👀

perfect ! I was dreading them I won't lie but I've just got into the routine of doing them now 🤣 that's made me feel a little better then ! Maybe I don't need to worry about my period coming earlier than usual. It's so hard not to stress either as I've really been trying to chill out 🙃 just going for a walk now & to get a nice decaf coffee in the sunshine ! My OTD is also the 23rd !! Eeek🥹 How are you feeling ? Xx

@LimeTurtle ah good, one less thing to worry about hopefully! Tbh if you've got through stims and retrieval this is a breeze, it's the waiting to know if its worked that's the absolute torture! I think usually the progesterone holds off your period anyway so the clinic will normally tell you to keep doing the pessaries til OTD, and hopefully then you'll carry them on for a while with a positive result on the test!

Good shout, I was worrying I'd overdone it on the days after my transfer as I was cleaning and getting rooms ready for family to stay with us but I've been resting up since. Decided today I was going a bit mad so went for a walk in the park too, enjoying the late summer sunshine! Does help to clear the head so enjoy your walk 🥰

I'm okayish😅😅 just want this to work so badly, if not then our NHS funded treatment is up so we will be going to Greece for more IVF which fills me with dread, there's a lot of pressure on this one. Have you had many symptoms? I've not had anything too crazy, I've been super shattered and had afternoon naps pretty much every day since my transfer, and a bit of cramping but it's always so hard to know if they're good signs of something coming...🤞💕

Fingers crossed ! I really do hope it works for you 💓 we have been going through private treatment as my husband did have a little girl a number of years ago - so luckily I do have a very sassy 9 year old step daughter to keep me on my toes. But it really is difficult as she is still not my own ! So we're hoping this one works or we will have to pay for another round which means more time waiting while we save ! It really does take over your life as much as you try and not let it. I've also tried baking and binge watching an old tv feel good series I like 🤣 we are both half way there I suppose !! I have taken it very easy, but similar to you I have been tidying up the house here and there. Symptoms wise I've been super tired as well, just the cramps and quite bad lower back pain which all comes and goes and some weird dreams as well which is strange for me as I never dream usually.

I've had sore boobs but had that before the transfer as a side effect of the pessaries I think !
I've seen lots of people going for treatment abroad now as well so did look into that and it does seem promising that way too😊xx

@LimeTurtle aww that's lovely, helps to have some distractions going on!

It certainly does, we've been on this journey for over 3 years now and it's horrific but you keep going in the hope you'll get there. If this works it'll be mine and my husbands first baby so I'm praying it works, always wanted a couple of children but if this transfer is the one I think we'll be happy with one rather than have to go through it all again! It really does impact everything, but it's always nice to find people on a similar path on here. Tbf you've helped me out as nobody knows we are doing the transfer just yet and it's killing me not talking to family and friends but we'd rather wait til are successful and a few weeks along. Binge watching some series defo helps!

Sounds like our symptoms are pretty similar, keep me posted with how you're getting on!

Yeah I've already been over to Serum in Greece just before this transfer. They did a laparoscopy and found endometriosis which they treated, which the NHS weirdly didn't find when they did the same procedure 2 years prior which is bizarre. Also did a biopsy test, similar to EMMA in the UK and they prescribed antibiotics to sort it, hoping that will all do the trick this time. They were amazing though and good lord they're efficient. I went because I have a friend who hadn't had success in the UK after years of trying and they had a beautiful baby thanks to Serum, so they'll be our last shot if this one fails 🥹🤞

good luck for Monday though, unless you cave and test any earlier! will be thinking of you and hope you get that positive 💕

Hi @LimeTurtle @cbear1989 I’m on my TWW at the moment, in fact I have the blood test tomorrow, and everything you’ve both said just resonate so much with me!
This is my second transfer, the first was with estrogen pills, progesterone pessaries, and progesterone injections. This time is just the pessaries (thank god) and both times I’ve had cramping, not strong just every now and again. After the first time I realized that the majority of them was due to not going to the toilet regularly, all thanks to the progesterone, and it was hard to differentiate between cramps. This time I’ve drank so much water to help the situation and I’ve felt better with it all.
Vivid dreams, is usually due to hormone changes, which could mean either it’s the pessaries or it’s a baby🤞🏻
Its so hard having all these symptoms and not being able to say for sure that it’s one way or the other because in reality it really can be either one.
Sending lots of positivity your ways for the next week!

It is crazy isn't it ! You feel as if you're loosing your mind 🤣 and no one else truly understands unless they're going through it themselves. It's relaxed me speaking to you both today and knowing we are all experiencing the same things. We've got this !!! 😄

Fingers crossed ! I've had a nap too ! feeling shattered. I had terrible back pain last night but seems to have subsided today. I'm really struggling today emotionally I feel like I want to burst into tears at any moment and no idea why ! It's horrible 🤣 trying not to get into my head and really resisting doing a test. I felt a little sick today but not sure if it's just nerves ! 😄

@LimeTurtle bless you, its really hard isn't it. But these signs hopefully sound positive for both of us, if it makes you feel any better I've gotten weepy scrolling through cute dog reels a few times over the past few days 🤣🤣

Have you got any nice plans for the weekend to keep you busy? Distraction is defo the key, just easier said than done! x

It is ! I've got a killer of a headache too 🤣
We've got this ! It's so hard ! I'm going to try and get a new WiFi package as ours is terrible and going to go for a walk in the fresh air tomorrow as my husband is home early from work - yay ! So not very exciting but it'll keep me busy ! Also going to bake some cinnamon rolls as I keep seeing everyone doing it and feeling very autumnal haha ! Xx

Hi all, can I join the thread? Had a FET on Monday so am now on day 5 (or 4 whole days in).

Was feeling surprisingly relaxed about it all but then update on Monday that it wasn’t possible to freeze any others has made everything feel much more pressured!

Like others have had cramping – I know they say it isn’t a positive or a negative sign, it’s just common, but it seems very easy to read into every sensation! A couple of days ago I was a bit stressed over something and then worried that increased cramping just after meant something bad. This morning I started feeling stressed about something else and a fairly continuous cramping sensation to my left stopped – and again am reading into it!

They offered a counsellor on Monday and I said I wouldn’t want to waste the resources as I didn’t really feel I needed it. Had not expected to be feeling this neurotic!!

@LimeTurtle Can relate to this! I’ve been exactly the same this week. I got emotional on the phone to my partner this morning as he said he needed to get off the phone to make breakfast 🙈😂 (I do not usually do this 😂😂)

Hope you’re feeling a bit better today! Cinnamon rolls sounds lovely and cosy! 🍁🍂

Don't worry at all ! Even if you didn't manage to freeze any it's only takes one ! I'm feeling much better today however I have been very naughty and tested this morning 😱 I promised myself I wouldn't but I caved when I couldn't get back to sleep at 5am !!! No symptoms can be a sign of success as well as the symptoms you are having as well. I'll have my fingers crossed for you ! Is it your first cycle ? Xx

@AshMapleOak Please try not to stress yourself out, I know easier said than done! But this is really out of your hands now. What will be, will be.
This whole process is so emotional and overwhelming, and I think sometimes we brush it off because it’s ‘only waiting’ but our minds go a million miles a minute and it’s so hard to turn it off. Give yourself a break, and a huge pat on the back for getting as far as you have. I count myself lucky to have the opportunity to be able to try, there’s other people who just can’t even get this far!
Try and empower yourself, change mindset and try to let it go. Control the things that you can, like eating healthy and staying active, get enough sleep and try to let the rest go.
When is your OTD? 💓

@LimeTurtle You tested… aaaannddd??? 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

🥹🥹 I got a positive ! However I am now worrying and trying not to get ahead of myself. I was worried as it says 2-3 weeks instead of 1-2 but not sure if it's just my HCG levels may be higher ? I am 8dp5dt now and had my trigger shot 15 days ago I don't think it'll still be that lingering. I may have to test again now on Sunday before my OTD just to check as I'm worrying about a chemical test pregnancy. I feel really sick today and a little pain in my tummy but not sure it's that's all the nerves and excitement mixed in.

What's your opinion on the tests and be doing it today ? Do you think it's too early ?
