Hello!

I was just wondering if anyone else was doing ivf in September and fancied some company? We’re starting our first round next week! I’m also happy to join existing threads if anyone knows of any on here? As ever, sending baby dust and the best of vibes to one and all ☺️💫✨❤️

@MrsBP15 hi, yes I am doing a frozen transfer. Hopefully AF should show up around the 10th September. You going through egg retrieval first? X

MrsBP15 · 21/08/2024 14:40

Hi @SlinkMcSlink my period is due to start on 30th so about a week ahead of you. Our meds arrived today which is exciting! This is our first round and we haven’t done any egg collections or anything so it would hopefully be a fresh transfer all being well and then any other embryos we get would be put in the freezer! How about you? Have you done any other rounds?

This is my first transfer. I had egg collection at the beginning of July but was at risk of OHSS so I’ve been put on a frozen transfer for next month. The lead up to egg retrieval can be hard going! I keep looking up possible transfer days but it all depends on when the cycle starts and thickness. Ahhh.

What medication are you on? @MrsBP15

MrsBP15 · 21/08/2024 15:20

How exciting to have your first transfer! Do you mind me asking why you were at risk of OHSS? I’m wondering if I might be but there’s only one way to find out!

I’ve got Follitropin Alfa and Fyremadal? Is that right? I’m just going off what is on the box 🤣

yes I’ve heard the lead up can be full on. I’ve got quite a few close friends who have been through the process. Work will be interesting but I’ll just have to see how I go I think!

Maybe... I have a second consultation to discuss treatment next week, though it'll be on CD2 - might be too late to start this cycle sooo will either be starting early sept or late sept.

BrightStar2021 · 21/08/2024 16:28

@SlinkMcSlink 👋
We are hoping to have FET transfer in September and October.
I have my follow up appointment soon to discuss the treatment plan.

BrightStar2021 · 21/08/2024 16:30

We have a 3 year old from our last fresh transfer and FET embryos will be from the batch taken from our last IVF cycle.

dormicumema · 21/08/2024 16:35

@MrsBP15 hello, im doing final consultations next wednesday and then starting my first ivf cycle when my period arrives, around 5th of Sept!
We are unexplained infertility, so dont really know what will happen!

SlinkMcSlink · 21/08/2024 17:12

@MrsBP15 Well initially I wasn’t but as the days went on at scans they said I had lots of eggs which was great but the bad side of that is that means you’re more likely to get ohss. I was so bloated! I’m naturally quite petite anyway and they said I was displaying symptoms of ohss (minor). I also had some fluid that they wanted to get rid of first. So my body has been given a rest. So impatient now though and just want to transfer! I’ve read this can be done around days 19-22 usually. I’m being sedated for my transfer like my egg collection though so I’ll miss it all!

Potentially exciting times! And either way hopefully not too long to wait (though understand that any/all waiting feels like a lifetime). Would this be your first round?

Hello! How exciting to be doing your first round! Unexplained infertility must be tough going. I’ve got blocked tubes so we know what the issue is not that there’s anything to be done but good to have an answer in a way? Hope your final consultation goes well!

How interesting. My AMH is very high so I’m wondering if I might be in the same boat? Who knows! I can imagine it must be a little frustrating when you are geared up to go. Hope you feel a bit better from having a rest from it though. Can I ask why you are being sedated for transfer? I don’t think I’ve heard of that happening before?

OP posts:
BrightStar2021 · 21/08/2024 17:35

@SlinkMcSlink yes my little one from a previous IVF cycle. I had cycles before he arrived.
I am hoping that the consultant says that I can start in September after my period starts. If not I will have to start in October.

SlinkMcSlink · 21/08/2024 17:40

@MrsBP15 I know it’s not the done thing for transfer to be sedated. Before my egg collection, they did a catheter test and I have scarring on my cervix (pre cancerous cells). So it’s not comfortable at all for me. Easier for them to knock me out I guess haha!

DaisyTee · 21/08/2024 20:06

Hi all
Also hoping to do FET mid September, egg collection in July ended up being a freeze all, we only got one embryo, just hoping it’s the one that takes!
We’re doing a completely natural FET so just hoping my body plays ball and we’ve no more delays.

Sending good luck to everyone x

Awesome! Do you have any tips for first timer? I’m feeling nervous but a little excited at the same time!

Well as long as you’re going to be comfortable that’s the main thing! How did you find egg collection?

Hello! Welcome! Exciting re FET will that be your first time? Do you mind me asking why they did freeze all or was that your choice before? Also super interested to hear more about natural FET, is there a particular reason you’re doing it? Sorry as you can see I’m pretty new to all this so just interested in all the different protocols!

Hi @MrsBP15
No it’s good to ask all the questions. Before starting IVF I didn’t realise there was so many protocols and different things to look into, knowledge is power I think!
It’s my second FET, this is my third round…
1st round - NHS (my one free go)
2 embryos, fresh double transfer, BFN
2nd round - private.
4 embryos, fresh double transfer, then medicated double FET - both BFN
3rd round - I had to take extra days of stims, follicles were responding but slowly. I was already on max dose so extra days of meds pushed my progesterone up too high so couldn’t do fresh transfer.

Decided on natural as we’ve tried medicated and it didn’t work so keen to try something different. After almost a year of IVF I’m welcoming a break from medication. My periods are regular, I ovulate and tests are all “normal” so I’m hoping my body can balance hormones without intervention. At this stage we will try anything to see if it works!

Tip would be to have some fragrance free toiletries to hand. No fragrances allowed at egg collection or transfer. Just take each step at a time and once you have collection/transfer dates have some nice things planned in TWW to occupy the mind!

SlinkMcSlink · 21/08/2024 22:05

@MrsBP15 The egg collection itself you’re sedated so no memory whatsoever. I was a bit light headed when I woke up but the main thing I found was that it was a relief! The bloating started to subside and there was space again as my insides weren’t getting all squished with huge eggs haha!!

You will be fine I promise! I don’t find any of this that daunting really because of the operations on my cervix in my 20s. It’s like I have no embarrassment. Just want a baby so I’m mostly feeling impatient and frustrated. I’m on a medicated FET because my clinic doesn’t do transfers at the weekend so knowing my luck, I’d miss the window of opportunity whereas now they can control my cycle. I think I would have liked natural as it’s not great being on all this medication but needs must.

@DaisyTee you’ve certainly been through it!!

SlinkMcSlink · 21/08/2024 22:06

@MrsBP15 I forgot to add that from egg collection I got 13 eggs. We currently have 4 embryos in the freezer.

DaisyTee · 22/08/2024 08:08

You too from the sound of it @SlinkMcSlink
It’s been a tougher road than anticipated but we’ll keep going while we can.

At least with the medicated FET you have some control which there isn’t a lot of in this process!

MrsBP15 · 22/08/2024 11:45

@DaisyTee wowzer that’s a lot! Well done you for persevering, you really are a warrior 💪🏻 I am certainly not looking forward to TWW but we’re going to plan some nice things and sort out the bathroom to keep us occupied. The glamour 🤣 I really hope this round works out for you. You’ll have to keep us posted! How does it work with natural? Do you wait for ovulation or do it before? Exciting!

@SlinkMcSlink thank you for your reassurance, that’s super helpful! And so great about your egg collection and that you have four embryos. Fingers crossed for it all 🤞🏻 can I ask did you actually have ohss? Or were you just at risk from it? I only ask because as I’ve said before I’m quite worried about it due my AMH etc. would you mind sharing what your AMH was?
