Hello!

I was just wondering if anyone else was doing ivf in September and fancied some company? We’re starting our first round next week! I’m also happy to join existing threads if anyone knows of any on here? As ever, sending baby dust and the best of vibes to one and all ☺️💫✨❤️

@MrsBP15 My AMH levels were within normal range. I had mild ohss as they could see fluid on my monitoring scan and I was extremely uncomfortable. That’s why they monitor you I guess. In one way, it’s great to get lots of eggs but because of that, it makes you more at risk of ohss. I think if someone doesn’t get as many eggs during stims that can be stressful as you obviously want them. But less eggs mean less risk of ohss. Imagine like tennis width sized follicles inside you!! It’s the medication that makes it happen and I responded very quickly. Also, as a result they switched my trigger before egg retrieval to lessen the effects of ohss. They mostly prevent it as much as they can hence not being allowed to do a fresh transfer.

Apparently, you’d know if you were severe because you would have breathing difficulties and be taken straight into hospital as it’s life threatening. I am unexplained fertility which I’m starting to feel a lot of women are being told this without much reasoning. Doesn’t help at all.

A house project is a great idea for the TWW.

With the natural FET I've to go in on CD10 for a scan to see if lining is thickening. Then I'll do OPKs until I get an indication of LH surge, think I go in for a scan too to confirm ovulation then it's a transfer 5 days after. Zero tablets, injections or pessaries. It's going to be weird lol.

MrsBP15 · 22/08/2024 13:11

@SlinkMcSlink yes I’m in normal range too though at the higher end which is, of course, really good in some ways. I just didn’t realise until quite recently that getting lots of eggs 🥚 isn’t necessarily a good thing! Just need to leave it to professionals to do their thing which they clearly did with you so that’s great! Do you mind me asking how you coped with work when you were so uncomfortable? I think my work would be pretty good about me wfh if I needed to.

@DaisyTee that sounds great and I’m sure quite nice not to be having to worry about meds. I’m sure those OPKs will keep you occupied though! It’s quite interesting that natural rounds aren’t offered at all in your first go but I guess they just have to assume you need the help. I have blocked fallopian tubes but everything else is seemingly really good apart from suspected Adenomyosis so even without the blocked tubes I might still need it who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️ I just find it fascinating that they can’t really tell how it’s going to go until you start. It’s certainly an expensive experiment as we don’t get any rounds on nhs!

@MrsBP15 oh I was absolutely stuffed in work as unfortunately I can’t work from home. I’m a primary school teacher so it was so hard! My boss has been positive and helpful with random times popping out but it’s so hard when you’re in charge of 30 children.

That unnecessarily stressed me out too. I thought that I might be able to do a transfer in August being off but it’s been scheduled in for September now. You know, one of the busiest times of year for a teacher with a brand new class. However, this is my life and my future and it is just a job I have to keep reminding myself. I can be easily replaced.

MrsBP15 · 22/08/2024 13:45

@SlinkMcSlink gosh that does sound stressful. Is there a reason they decided not to do it in August? I hope work are being as supportive as they can be given the circumstances! When do you start your meds? Hopefully it’ll be a little better this time!

@MrsBP15 they have to leave 6-8 weeks to allow my body to rest. You have a withdrawal bleed about a week after collection and then an actual period the next month. That was this month for me. I start my meds on day 1 of my next period which is due around 10th September. In my head I’ve got the week beginning 30th September as a transfer possibility but who know as IVF is a rollercoaster! Possibly the week before so 23rd. I hope it’s not any later than the end of September.

What about you? Where are you up to? If you’re anything like me, you’ll be looking up possible dates that you could be giving birth (very sad I know!) Need to get pregnant first though haha! I really do understand it now when people say that they just want a healthy baby. Doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or girl or when in the school year they’re born! Nothing else really matters.

MrsBP15 · 22/08/2024 16:20

@SlinkMcSlink that makes sense that your body needs to rest. I bet you can’t wait to crack on!

i’m due to start meds in/around 30th August so (if I’ve understood it all correctly) egg retrieval any time between 9th-13th September and then transfer (all being well) five days after that. So should be all done by the end of September! I do find it hard not knowing when things are going to happen but just trying to do my best to go with it. Doesn’t stop me from trying to figure it all out and constantly opening my calendar to see when stuff MIGHT happen!

I don’t think it’s at all sad to be thinking about the birth and stuff, totally understandable. My mind can go to all sorts of places but I think that’s probably going to happen more for me when I get started particularly after transfer etc. Have you done quite a lot of prep for it all?

OP posts:
MrsBP15 · 22/08/2024 16:23

Also I was always determined to not be pregnant in the summer because I don’t deal well in the heat, didn’t really want a boy, didn’t want a September baby etc now I wouldn’t care if I had to deal with nine months of 35 degrees! I mean, I probably would but you know what I mean.

@MrsBP15 Keep in touch along each step of the way. September will be an anxious month but at least we’re going in the right direction. I’ve just had all my medication for transfer arrive from the pharmacy so I’m ready to go as soon as AF arrives next month. I’ve got Elleste (oestrogen), Lubion (progesterone) and cyclogest pessaries.

Do you know what stumps medication you’ll be using?

riverlodge90 · 22/08/2024 18:58

@MrsBP15

Hi!
I am starting my first round of IVF around the 15th of September.
Had all our tests and scans, so awaiting for medication to be delivered.

Hopefully it's a lucky month for us all🤞🏼

SlinkMcSlink · 22/08/2024 19:08

Hi @riverlodge90 is that when you’re starting your stims?

CherryBerryBoo · 22/08/2024 20:17

🙋🏽‍♀️ hey!

This is our third fresh cycle - we already have a 4 year old from a previous FET.
We are now cycling with Lister Fertility.
Day 1 should be around 11th Sept and we are doing a short protocol.
xx

MrsBP15 · 22/08/2024 20:44

@SlinkMcSlink going off what’s on the box I’ve got ovaleap and fyremadal? That’s great that you’ve got your stuff ready to go. The pessaries sound fun! And then you have to keep going if successful for ages but again, at this point I’d put pessaries up my bum for months if I needed to 🤣

@riverlodge90 Hello! How’s it going? Do you know what medication you’ve got coming? Exciting to be doing your first round! Have you been ttc for long?

@CherryBerryBoo wishing you all the best for your next cycle. Is this your first fresh cycle? Is Lister in London? Have you used them before?

BABY DUST ALL ROUND ✨✨✨

CherryBerryBoo · 22/08/2024 20:53

Hey @MrsBP15

this will be our third fresh cycle, but first one with Lister. Yes it's in London, where abouts are you cycling? Xx

MrsBP15 · 22/08/2024 22:29

@CherryBerryBoo we’re with OxRH who are satellite so all scans in Oxford and then procedures with BCRM in Bristol. Can I ask why you’ve gone for fresh instead of frozen? We’re hoping for fresh but will have to see how it goes!

riverlodge90 · 22/08/2024 23:17

@MrsBP15

I've been put onto ovaleap 300iu, and ovamex trigger but don't know what the other one is yet. Consultant said they are aiming for a fresh cycle so we shall see! I'm absolutely clueless about the medication side of things so need to research that abit more. We've been TTC 2 years unexplained! My AMH is 14.8 slightly low for my age (31).
How old are you if you don't mind me asking? Is this your first cycle? And do you know if they're aiming for fresh transfer ?

@SlinkMcSlink
Hi! It is yes I've been given a plan on my online portal so hopefully the medication will arrive soon. Have an app on the 10th to show us how to use it.

What stage are you at atm? :)

CherryBerryBoo · 23/08/2024 06:45

@MrsBP15 ahh okay. Well hopefully the idea is we can use one fresh one then freeze any remaining. Last time I had to do a freeze all because of the risk of OHSS. I had 26 eggs. But i was fine. so I guess all depends how many eggs I get. I am 31 and my AMH is 21. We are also hoping fresh cycle cause we are doing an access fertility package and have to pay £800 extra if end up doing freeze all 🤦🏽‍♀️
wishing you all the best with your cycle ❤️

MrsBP15 · 23/08/2024 08:06

@riverlodge90 I’m extremely clueless about the meds which is bad I know but I just figure the doctor knows what they’re doing and that’s what they’re getting paid for so as long as we know how to administer it we should be fine. The very nice nurse went through it all but my husband will be doing it for me so he’s very across it. Of course I’ll learn what to do as well just in case. My sister and her partner have recently done two rounds of making embryos (frozen to transfer at a later date) so they are going to come over and help. A very weird dinner party of sorts 🤣

I’ve just turned 38 and this my first ever cycle. Been trying for just over 18 months without a whiff of a positive (not that I tested my period would just come). My fallopian tubes are blocked and I have suspected mild (ha) Adenomyosis. Sperm is looking really good and my AMH is 39.5 so pretty high! We have had to go straight to private as no nhs funding for us. They’ll be doing a fresh transfer and freezing the rest all being well!

Are you guys nhs or private? How have you found the last few months? We’ve been pretty good about prepping but I miss bread so much!

Hi! 👋 doing a frozen transfer in sep 🥰 had my egg collection last Friday and it was a freeze all. Started my withdrawal bleed the other day and my god it is horrendous. Also back on Fematab in prep, have a FET scan booked for the 2nd of September, which annoyingly is my first day back at a work(school secretary) was hoping to get all done over the summer to avoid asking for time off as I'm a 2 hour drive to my clinic!!

MrsBP15 · 23/08/2024 08:23

@CherryBerryBoo thats the same as us. Again, all being well. My AMH is 39.5 so I’m kind of assuming that they’ll get lots of eggs but hoping all will be ok with regards to OHSS. It does feel like this is kind of a trial round because they just don’t know how we will respond. We were going to pay for three rounds but then decided to just pay for one as we wouldn’t have saved that much and we just thought if we get lots of embryos for the freezer there’s no need to go through the whole process again when we could just do transfers.

how are you feeling about it all? Do you get excited? Any tips for first timers?

MrsBP15 · 23/08/2024 17:15

Hi @Daniki welcome! How’s it going? Are withdrawal bleeds common do you know? How did you find egg collection? So when will you have your transfer? Is this your first round? Sorry so many questions!! Sending you lots of luck!!🍀

Thank you! I think so, if it's for a freeze all cycle as the doc said I would get it in the next 4 days and she was right! I had quite thick lining and over 30 follicles so it is insanely heavy 🤢😅 I was quite sore for 2 days after but then I was grand think I had a touch of OHSS! The things we do eh 😂

Daniki · 23/08/2024 22:25

@MrsBP15 also not sure when the transfer is but I'm back on Fematab and am booked for a FET scan on the 2nd sep, so will go from there 🥰

MrsBP15 · 24/08/2024 07:47

Hi @Daniki sorry I’m not super familiar with the terminology but when you say freeze all is that eggs or embryos? And if embryos do you mind me asking how many you got? Withdrawal bleed sounds crap but I have extremely heavy periods so I’m kind of used to that lol! Also what’s Fematab?! God I really don’t know anything 🫠 hope you’re having a good BH weekend so far!
