Hello!

I was just wondering if anyone else was doing ivf in September and fancied some company? We’re starting our first round next week! I’m also happy to join existing threads if anyone knows of any on here? As ever, sending baby dust and the best of vibes to one and all ☺️💫✨❤️

Hi everyone! I'm new on here and I've just started my first round of ivf with my dh after 2 years ttc and unexplained infertility. I don't have any friends or family who have been through ivf and this felt like the perfect place to reach out to others going through similar experiences.

I'm on day 3 of injections with estimated egg collection (all being well - fingers crossed) on Mon 9th Sep

Welcome @Painty04 hows it going? How are you feeling? I’m just about to start my first round (just waiting for my period to arrive) so am in the same position as you but others on here have done previous rounds. That being said it’s always nice to chat to people going through the same thing! Sending you lots of baby dust and hoping the meds continue to go well. When do you have your first scan?x

Hello all! I’m starting next month. Started taking progesterone tablets today as we need to control when my period starts cos I’m having treatment abroad. We’re planning to start meds on 11th Sept and then we head to Prague on 18th. So excited it’s finally happening.
We’ve been ttc for 18 months and I’m 39 so time is ticking on.

Welcome @teampacey is your name a Dawson’s Creek reference? If it is hard agree, Pacey and Joey forever! Hope you’re doing well and feeling ok. What made you decide to do treatment abroad? Is this your first round? Sending you baby dust!!

I’m back home from egg collection. They managed to get 5/5 eggs! I know there are no guarantees (and the odds are not really in my favour) that any of them will become embryos but I’m so happy with how today went.

They have managed my expectations that some are likely to prove too immature as the size of the follicles were very varied.

I can only take it one step at a time and today’s step went as well as it possibly could… so I’ll take that.

That’s great @WarriorsComeOutToPlayay in so pleased for you. Keeping everything crossed that things progress well. How are you feeling today after EC? Hope you’re managing to relax and chill!

Hey @MrsBP15 It's going well, the injections have been much easier than I was expecting and I'm feeling ok so far, slight headache lingering and lower backache, but tbh that could just be a result of my job, not necessarily the meds😂

I had my baseline scan on wed 28th and my next scans are scheduled for mon 2nd, wed 4th and fri 6th. It's definitely nice to chat to others going through the same thing! I hope you don't have to wait too much longer for your period to arrive and sending you lots of baby dust!

Thanks, I’m feeling well and relaxed after a good sleep. Yes I am chilling , I am currently curled up on the sofa with the dog about to watch Bob Mortimer on Saturday Kitchen as I think that will make me laugh!

We were called by the clinic today and as suspected three eggs were too immature. Of the two remaining, one was abnormal but the other one has been fertilised and is coming along well. This is good news as we’re still in the game! It’s a matter of waiting now and I am keeping everything crossed.

Wishing everyone else the best of luck!

Lil89 · 31/08/2024 11:36

Excellent @WarriorsComeOutToPlayay ☺️🤩 we are EC buddies! Have they said what the next steps are?

Lil89 · 31/08/2024 11:36

The clinic called me! Out of 3 eggs collected 2 have fertilised ❤️ now they want ET on Day 3 (Monday) but isn't that too soon? I'm so confused 🤷🏻‍♀️

WarriorsComeOutToPlayay · 31/08/2024 12:01

@Lil89 2 is amazing!

Best of luck for Monday. We are, all things being well, on for Wednesday.

Re timing of egg transfer, our clinic said they just decide on the day based on the embryo. I don’t think it’s good or bad either way, it’s just what’s right based on each unique situation which makes sense. Wishing you the very best.

Thanks, it's so confusing as everyone talks about day 5 ET not day 3 😣

Day 5 is most common, but they do day 3 if they think the embryo will progress better inside you rather than in the lab - my friend had a day 3 and it was successful, so definitely not a bad thing 😊 x

Glad to hear it’s going well and you aren’t feeling too many side effects. This really is a great place to speak to people, that’s for sure. Still no period for me. My cycles are between 26-29 days (usually 27) and today is day 29…really hoping it comes tonight so I can stop feeling like I’m in limbo 🫠

Hello everyone,

I am been reading this forum for a very long time and it has been very helpful, I have learnt so much!
I am about to start my first and only IVF funded cycle. I have my baseline scan tomorrow (it’s going to be my day 4) to hopefully start the stims tomorrow evening.
I am at the same time scared and excited. I don’t like needles so I am very apprehensive of the injections, and it doesn’t help that my husband is away this week so I have to do this on my own!
I will less alone with this lovely community.

DaisyTee · 01/09/2024 11:04

@Lil89 & @WarriorsComeOutToPlayay congrats on your egg collections. Fingers crossed for both of you on your updates 🤞

@YellowTack welcome & good luck for your cycle. I hate needles too and had to do a few myself - it was much better when I did them than my DH! I used an ice cube or ice pack for a few minutes to numb the area first which seemed to help. Best of luck!

Painty04 · 01/09/2024 13:38

Welcome @YellowTack I was also quite apprehensive of the injections, but they've turned out to be easier than I expected. My husband hates needles even more than I do, so I'm doing all of mine myself. Once the nurse showed me exactly what I was doing, and made me do a "test" aka empty one I felt much better, in her words a lot of it is "mind over matter" The needle is very tiny and although there's that slight initial sting, after that it feels ok.

I hope once you get started you'll feel better and settle into it 🤞 just keep that end goal in mind! Best of luck 😊

If you struggle the first time just google the name of the injection and there will be a YouTube video that will remind you how to mix and administer 🙃

For the pain side of things, I'd say... take a deep breath before you self inject as something the nerves will make your body tense up and it'll be more painful 😣

YellowTack · 01/09/2024 21:41

@DaisyTee @Painty04 @Lil89 Thank you all for the advice for the injections!

Lil89 · 02/09/2024 09:11

Thanks for your well wishes @DaisyTee 🙃 the clinic called to say that both embryos are Average so advised to wait until Day 5 Blastocyst to make a decision which to select for ET

I felt very bloated my tummy literally ballooned, and I had headaches too. I was on the maximum dose of meriofert - 3 vials. How are you feeling? x

Thanks for that. Yes slightly bloated and have had a dull lying headache. Hopefully not too much longer. 😏

MrsBP15 · 02/09/2024 11:03

Hello @YellowTack and welcome! My cycle started yesterday so I’m starting injections tonight too! I’m actually not too fussed about needles so not feeling super worried but can imagine if you weren’t a fan it would be quite nerve wrecking. Maybe some mindfulness or meditation before might be good shout to get you relaxed? Crossing fingers that we both get off to a great start tonight!

I went for my baseline scan this morning and got the green light to start the stims tonight!
I was a little bit surprised because my clinic has a new approach were they don’t do multiple progress scans so I won’t have a scan until the 11th of September after 10 days of stims, and they hope to be a able to give me the green light for the trigger that day. I’m not sure how I feel about this approach as it would be nice to have a bit more monitoring to know how I respond to the meds and how many follicules are growing.

Hi @YellowTack im starting my injections tonight too. I got my schedule through yesterday and was surprised to see I only have two scans scheduled. One is on day 10 and the other is two days later just before potential EC. I haven’t queried this yet but I was planning to. Did your clinic say why they were doing less scans? I didn’t even get a baseline scan so I’m hoping all ok!

Anyone doing a frozen transfer? I can't remember, and haven't been on the thread much! Had my FET scan this morn, having my transfer Friday week.--the 13th 😂😖
