Hello!

I was just wondering if anyone else was doing ivf in September and fancied some company? We’re starting our first round next week! I’m also happy to join existing threads if anyone knows of any on here? As ever, sending baby dust and the best of vibes to one and all ☺️💫✨❤️

@MrsBP15 😂 your grand there so much to get your head around, there's a lot in I sure of or just found out about! I'm used to the heavy periods aswell so it's not too much of a change 😂
So the freeze all is your embryos all frozen instead of doing a fresh transfer 5 days or so after your egg collection. Because I had so many follicles they thought I would get OHSS so changed me to a freeze all cycle rather than a fresh transfer. I was annoyed about it but don't mind as much now as I was quite sore after the EC for a few days so hoping the rest for my body will actually help an embryo stick! Fematab is an estrogen tablet they give to prepare the lining (I think 😂)
As no BH hol here in afraid(Ireland) but I work in a school and I'm for another week so can't complain too much 😂

Hey @MrsBP15

ahh yes that makes sense. We paid for our first cycle when I was 27 and they were too over cautious in my opinion and put me of 150 gonal f. Despite having a good AMH for my age at that time and good Antre follicle count at baseline scan. I was understimulated and only got 6 eggs and 1 good enough to transfer.
so the next time they upped my dose to 300 and got those 26 eggs. So we had more chances and ended up with 5 blasts.

I am starting feel excited about going again and our consultant seems quite optimistic. Any tips ... well try and just be and healthy as you can. I did acupuncture once a week for our frozen embryo transfer. We had a little girl so who knows whether that helped. Are you taking supplements to help with egg quality? Like coq10? Xx

BrightStar2021 · 24/08/2024 11:31

@MrsBP15 the only tips I can think of are to try not to stress too much (I know this is hard). On the day of transfer I watched comedies on Netflix all day and I also had acupuncture weekly and on the day of transfer. I found acupuncture very relaxing. I also took vit D and CQ10 in addition to my pregnacare preconception one.
Good luck hun x

MrsBP15 · 25/08/2024 12:31

@CherryBerryBoo that’s great that you’ve got a good amount. The first round certainly seems to be quite trial and error so I’m not necessarily expecting a pregnancy to happen but at least well hopefully know more about where we are 🤷🏼‍♀️ that’s great that your consultant is optimistic, hopefully it will all go really well for you! Yes been taking coq10 for several months as has my husband. We’re both taking wild nutrition fertility as well and I’m taking inositol and prescription folic acid as well. Have cut out alcohol and been following Mediterranean diet. I also do yoga several times a week. How about you?

@BrightStar2021 avoiding stress is a great tip. I’ve been open with my work for this very reason! I’ve already lined up some stuff on Netflix already though I’ve smashed Love is Blind already 🤣 I think I’m going to do some acupuncture as there is one who lives on my road so it’s easy peasy! I’m also doing counselling which is super helpful! Thank you for your good wishes I’m feeling really supported by lots of people which is really lovely 🥰

Hello, please may I join? We are currently undergoing our second round of IVF. We had an unsuccessful try a few months ago on the short protocol but didn’t even get to egg collection as I only produced one egg. This was really disappointing but perhaps unsurprising as I am 42 with low amh, an ovarian cyst and endo.

I have managed to get pregnant naturally with a miracle pregnancy (following a laparoscopy) once before but sadly we had to have a TFMR. A TFMR is awful but when combined with infertility it has been very hard.

We are on the long protocol this time. I have been on stims for 6 days now and am having the first scan on Wednesday.

I am very bloated this time, which I am trying not to read too much into or get my hopes up!

I am just hoping for some eggs so we can get to the next stage this time. Wishing everyone the very best of luck.

Welcome @WarriorsComeOutToPlayay ! I don’t think people realise that IVF is not just a one time fix it thing. I naively thought that people just went down this route and got a baby at the end. Sorry your first round didn’t work out.

Lucymorris · 26/08/2024 19:33

Hey ladies, I’d like to join this thread please 😊 I had my first failed transfer end of June/beginning July. I have 2 frozen embryos left which I am going to have both transferred in September - roughly around middle of September depending when my cycle starts. I am having a natural cycle as I have regular periods and ovulate on time. Sending you all lots of positive sprinkles ✨ x

MrsBP15 · 26/08/2024 21:00

Welcome @WarriorsComeOutToPlayay hope you’re feeling ok? I’m so sorry for your loss with TFMR, that must have been totally heartbreaking for you. Got everything crossed for you for success this time. How long is long protocol? I hope you’re feeling good and supported.

@SlinkMcSlink you are so right! A few people have congratulated me or said “I can’t believe you’re going to have a baby” I know they don’t get it but it’s not super helpful!

Welcome @Lucymorris hope you’re doing ok? I’m sorry your first transfer failed but crossing fingers for this one. Do you mind my asking if there is particular reason they are putting both embryos in this time? I’m starting stims week, period due on Thursday. This will be my first round. Sounds like we might have embryo transfer around the same time all being well!!

Just wondered if anyone else had used this before or is using it now? I’ve found it really good so far. Happy to post link if anyone interested!🍍

The consultant recommended having them both put in as they are my last two so said to just thaw them together and pop them both in to maximise chances, he did say it doesn’t mean it’s 50% more likely to work, it’s actually only something like 10% more likely to work, so will see 🤞🏼 ah we should be on pretty much identical timings so it’s nice to have someone having it at the same time to chat to 😊 feel free to ask any questions at all I’ll answer the best I can. Best of luck with stims, take each day at a time 🙏🏻

@Lucymorris that makes complete sense and potentially exciting for you. It’s always nice to have people to chat to in real time going through the same thing. Can I ask what led to you going for a natural cycle this time? I’m really regular and definitely ovulate so just curious about the thought process there.

The consultant advised it as I don’t need medication for ovulation, I’ll still have pessaries but no injections or anything. I obviously did all the medication the first time and it didn’t work so worth a try to do natural. Xx

I’m just back from my scan and they saw 5 follicles!

I know for most people on this thread that 5 would probably be disappointing number but I’m so happy. It’s 5 times better than last time!

Looks like we are going to egg collection this time either as early as Friday or Monday. I’m thrilled and while I am realistic I am so relieved to have better news than last time. It’s nice to have hope even if it is guarded and cautious.

MrsBP15 · 28/08/2024 12:39

@Lucymorris ah ok that’s interesting. I wonder if they always do a medicated round for your first one and then go from there. I’d never heard of a natural ivf round until recently and I just feel like because I’m super regular and ovulate etc if it might be for me. My issue is blocked tubes rather than anything else. Who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️ just got to go with what the doctors say for now I guess

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayay thats amazing news! And it’s all relative, if that’s really good results for you that amazing. So good that it’s got better. And great that you’re potentially going for egg collection soon. Keeping everything crossed, keep us updated!

Amazing news congratulations 🥳 on my first collection I had 7, and ended up with 3 embryos which is far more than they expected, so that’s really good news 😊

You can only have natural with frozen, and the first cycles are usually fresh (as far as I am aware!) x

Brilliant! I went today and they found 5 too ☺️ they have told me that my EC is on Friday so perhaps yours will be too? 🤞

WarriorsComeOutToPlayay · 28/08/2024 20:04

Oh @Lil89 I’m so pleased for you! Hope everything goes well for us both on Friday ☺️
