IVF / ICSI August

I’ve looked for a thread for August but couldn’t find one? (Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
We are starting a long protocol at the beginning of July ready for stims and EC in August. This is our first IVF, I’ve been infertile for 15 years due to complications during endo surgery so always knew IVF was my only option. I met my DH seven years ago and now we are ready to try our luck.

I suddenly feel quite anxious about the whole process although I’ve known it’s my only option for a long time, now I've finally actually looked into what's involved and people's experiences. I’ve had to loose 5st to get my bmi inside requirements which has been incredibly hard but I’m proud I got to this point.

I've got quite a complicated gynea history so preparing myself for a rocky ride, but I’m also thankful for my medical history because I’m already very used to those awful internal scans 🤣

@Scweggers i think you are first to create!!
thank you ☺️
I am in the same position as you. My cycle is due on June 23rd and I am on the long protocol. Starting on day 21 in the middle of July. This is our first round too.
In the initial scans it showed I had a lot of follicles however I do not have PCOS but my DH has low sperm motility/morphology so we have went down the ICSI route.

I hate the waiting about!! So impatient and excited but nervous to get started.

Good on you that’s some achievement. Have you been following any particular diet? We have tried the last month to cut out processed foods and plan to continue it as much as possible.
we actually go on holiday around the Greek islands on the 21st of June so some well needed rest is due!!

Scweggers · 12/06/2024 22:26

@Sineadttc Hi, lovely to have company!

I’m very impatient too, the waiting feels so long and every part seems to lead to another long wait!

No particular diet, I cut out all the processed foods and the sweet stuff because I have a serious sweet tooth and loads of exercise. I’ve really fallen in love with exercise after many years of hating it, it’s been so great for my anxiety about the ivf. Whenever I’m feeling it I just pop my headphones in with some cheesy pop and go for big walk.

wow the holiday sounds perfect and the best timing too, you can relax and recharge ready for the next few weeks!

Hi @Scweggers @Sineadttc can I join too, this will be our third cycle, our last one was our last but my hubby has said we can go again and not get the new kitchen, crazy the sacrifices you make.
I am due to start stims on the 2nd August

camelinastorm · 17/06/2024 15:27

@Tiz90 oh wow practically the same as me then.
It will come round so fast.
I am currently taking vitamins and trying to eat avocado or eggs once a day (my clinic suggested it 😬)
We are male fertility issue over this end and also my age now becoming a factor AMH is 17.9. had full bloods done, didn't realise there were so many blood tests that could be done and they have said all looks good so 🤞🏼

@camelinastorm i hadn’t heard the egg/avocado thing before? They are already in my diet every day so at least I won’t need to fuss that one. We're taking all the vitamins too plus lots of exercise and healthy eating. Tbh I feel the best I ever have so I hope that’s a good sign?

I’ve got an appointment on Monday morning at the clinic then start my down regulation injection on Tuesday, thankfully it’s just one injection for 4 weeks! And I’ve had it before for treatment for endometriosis so I’m ready for the side effects!

@Scweggers oh hopefully the side effects are not too bad for you x
Yes definitely a good sign that you feel great, I need to get back into things I used to walk everyday and visit the gym, but the last month works been busy and well life's been busy. Are you under the NHS or paying ?

camelinastorm · 19/06/2024 11:28

@Tiz90 I have been prescribed menophur and cetrodide for stims, also on aspirin and will be on progesterone pax injections before transfer
Have you been told ?

@Tiz90 the weight loss has been hard but I guess the goal makes it worth it!

and yes one injection is so much easier! It’s prostap, I was on it for 3 years for endo so it will be like seeing an old friend again 😂 from what I remember it was mainly the night sweats that affected me so we shall see!

@camelinastorm I’ve really sunk into my fitness these last few was just focused on being healthy, it feels like the only thing I can really control. We’re aren’t very busy at the moment so that makes it easier but I think I’d rather be busy, keeps the mind from wondering. We are NHS, it’s 3 full rounds with FETs in our postcode luckily!

@Scweggers that's great you have a focus and wow you have a great postcode as 3 full rounds is amazing !!!!
Ours is secondry infertility so unfortunately we are unable to get NHS, but super happy for you that you get three rounds.

Scweggers · 25/06/2024 21:47

First injection all done! It was huge a big needle but it didn’t hurt. I’m feeling very excited now!
