IVF / ICSI August

I’ve looked for a thread for August but couldn’t find one? (Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
We are starting a long protocol at the beginning of July ready for stims and EC in August. This is our first IVF, I’ve been infertile for 15 years due to complications during endo surgery so always knew IVF was my only option. I met my DH seven years ago and now we are ready to try our luck.

I suddenly feel quite anxious about the whole process although I’ve known it’s my only option for a long time, now I've finally actually looked into what's involved and people's experiences. I’ve had to loose 5st to get my bmi inside requirements which has been incredibly hard but I’m proud I got to this point.

I've got quite a complicated gynea history so preparing myself for a rocky ride, but I’m also thankful for my medical history because I’m already very used to those awful internal scans 🤣

@Blossomofhope Thank you ❤️ I’m fine i had a feeling when my tests weren’t progressing I’ve had miscarriage and blighted ovum this year so I think you just know when something isn’t right. Hoping for some better luck going forward

@Blossomofhope Best of luck on your egg collection

Oh you poor thing. I had a blighted ovum earlier this year too. It’s all just so tough. I hope things improve for you soon.

And welcome x

Hey, can I join? Iv no one to talk to about all this! We are doing ICSI for baby#2, I'm starting fematab next week on day 21 of cycle, with treatment to start in August! To be honest I'm still a bit clueless about it all 🤣 reading through threads I have seen people being told not to unprotected sex in the lead up, this was never mentioned and now I'm worried as we have had unprotected sex twice around fertile time. Altho i do feel like it's such a slim chance as weve not had a positive test since a chemical in may last year!

GLizzie88 · 17/07/2024 11:55

Hi! Newbie here, I feel so unknowledgable compared to you all, but I have my nurse appointment next week and due to start the 5th August!! I'm so nervous and my emotions are all over the place.

How are you all coping?

Firefly42 · 17/07/2024 13:59

Hi joining aswell.Going for our 3rd round of icsi in August. Our second round was successful and we now have a beautiful 14 month old baby girl so hoping to give her a sibling.Due to start another round in June but got delayed due to a long drawn out second miscarriage in April and then caught covid 2 weeks ago so clinic pushed it out another month.Starting estrogen priming when my period starts next week.I have low ovarian reserve, endometriosis and underactive thyroid.Im also 42 so chances are extremely slim but we will give it our best shot.Wishing a great outcome for everyone xx

camelinastorm · 17/07/2024 19:03

@Daniki we were never told this however we have such a low chance of conceiving naturally I wouldn't worry

camelinastorm · 17/07/2024 19:04

@GLizzie88 aww that's great, I'm due to start my injections on the 2nd august, all my meds have just arrived. Exciting times. It's good to have people who have been through it before it will help for any questions you need answered

camelinastorm · 17/07/2024 19:06

@Firefly42 oh that's lovel6you are going for a sibling, I am 40 so similar age bracket, I have AMH of 17 this will be my 3rd round

Firefly42 · 18/07/2024 14:27

@camelinastorm that's great you have a high amh.I am estrogen priming first and then will be put on Norethisterone for 9-12 days then start injections on day 2 of period. So likely not starting injections to end of August. We may not even get to collection stage as when I was 40 we only got 5 eggs in 2 cycles but we did get 4 embyros however I now have very low amh but we are hoping for at least one follicle and will go for collection if we are lucky enough.

Firefly42 · 18/07/2024 14:41

@Daniki Hi we have never been told his either. We always continued to have sex in the hope we might get lucky.

Firefly42 · 18/07/2024 14:44

@GLizzie88 beat of luck with your first cycle.Hope you have a really good response and get plenty of embyros.

Firefly42 · 18/07/2024 14:55

@Scweggers best of luck with your cycle.Congrats on your weight loss.Yes those internal scans are awful and I'd feel so uncomfortable and embarrassed getting them but I'm at the stage now where it wouldn't bother be if I had a room full of people watching me🤣

Scweggers · 18/07/2024 15:48

@Firefly42 thank you! Yes from years of internal scans due to gynea conditions I’m quite used to them but they are still horrendous!

how’s everyone doing?

I took my first injection a few weeks ago and the symptoms have been fine, a little grumpy and a few headaches. Mainly the night sweats that have been bad, I swear I woke up last night drenched and there was an imprint of my body on the sheets! Good job we have some sunshine and warm weather so I can wash the sheets and get them on the line, again!

My next injection is Tuesday and then my baseline scan at the clinic. They will let me know what day to start the stims, it’s going to be either the 24th or 26th? They said it’s so they can spread out the egg collections because they have a few people all starting at the same time. I'm hoping to start on the 26th because otherwise EC could happen on my birthday and I don’t fancy that although on my birthday I tend to have a pj day with snacks and movies so probably the same as I will spend the day of the EC 😂

Thanks ladies, I will continue to give it a go anyway 😂 picked up all my medications today, holy god 2 bags full 🙈 I am very lucky I'm in Ireland where there is a scheme you pay no more than €80 per month on prescriptions!!

Hi @Daniki 👋
Ive a lot of similarities with you - also in Ireland, doing ICSI, on the femtab. Great you got your medication sorted, there’s been a national shortage recently - as if we need that headache on top of it all! 😅

Blossomofhope · 19/07/2024 10:59

Hope everyone is getting on ok. Tomorrow is stim day for me, can’t wait to just properly get into it now. I was thinking of having a drink tonight before I start jabs. Hopefully won’t be having another one for a year! 🤞🏻🤞🏻😆

Daniki · 19/07/2024 18:02

@Blossomofhope oh lovely to meet someone else from Ireland going through the same! 🥰 iv seen that actually on a few Facebook pages actually! Now the doctor did have other options on the script if one wasn't in stock, I didn't even look at them properly to check if anything was out! Was too amazed by the sheer amount 😂

I know, it’s so ridiculously intense. I hate the trip to the chemist, it’s like a less fun walk of shame - I know it shouldn’t be shameful, it’s just my perception. Your doctor sounds very other organised, that’s great!

Daniki · 19/07/2024 21:12

@Blossomofhope yes I feel the same! And I'm in there every month anyway but drill feel embarrassed, god knows why!

Firefly42 · 20/07/2024 17:33

Aw best of luck, what stage are you at?
This is my third round but still trying for first.
My first jab is tonight, aiming for 10-12 days but will see what the scans say. Really hope it’s a successful round.
