IVF / ICSI August

I’ve looked for a thread for August but couldn’t find one? (Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
We are starting a long protocol at the beginning of July ready for stims and EC in August. This is our first IVF, I’ve been infertile for 15 years due to complications during endo surgery so always knew IVF was my only option. I met my DH seven years ago and now we are ready to try our luck.

I suddenly feel quite anxious about the whole process although I’ve known it’s my only option for a long time, now I've finally actually looked into what's involved and people's experiences. I’ve had to loose 5st to get my bmi inside requirements which has been incredibly hard but I’m proud I got to this point.

I've got quite a complicated gynea history so preparing myself for a rocky ride, but I’m also thankful for my medical history because I’m already very used to those awful internal scans 🤣

@Blossomofhope I am due to start priming with estofem when my period starts this wk.We were due to start in June but got pushed out for a month due to a long drawn out second miscarriage in April then we unfortunately caught covid so had it pushed out again.I will be stimming for 11 days if all goes well but we will be very lucky to get to egg collection as I have an extremely low amh.Wishing you lots of luck for this cycle.

Daniki · 21/07/2024 14:16

@Blossomofhope any noticeable side effects from fematab? Starting tomorrow!

Ah you’ve had a tough year, I’m sorry. I also had a drawn out miscarriage earlier this year, it sucks. Time for some good luck now. Thanks so much - lots of good luck to you too!

I didn’t have any. I’ve been tired and unmotivated but I don’t think I could say that was purely down to the tablets. Nothing noticeable though - hopefully you’re the same.

Daniki · 21/07/2024 20:29

@Blossomofhope ah the tiredness will be no change from the current then 😂 that's great thanks, dreading headaches as I suffer badly from migraines at the best of times 🙃

I get migraines sometimes and I didn’t have so much as a headache on those tablets. Just make sure you stay hydrated. 🙂

@Blossomofhope oh great to know, thanks! 🤩

GLizzie88 · 23/07/2024 09:29

Hope you're all OK. Thanks for the support!! If it helps with amh - I was tested in 2021 and had 7.7, my Dr was concerned what that would be 3 years later, so I had a retest. It's come up as 14.7?! So apparently it isn't entirely linear. Very strange.

I have my nurse appointment today,I'm hoping I'll learn more as I feel really unsure about all the terminology and the meds at the moment, everyone sounds so knowledgeable.

Wow that’s incredible it increased so much.
Mine went from 12 to 5 in a year which terrified me but then six months later had increased to 6 which was somewhat of a relief.

Believe me it’s a good thing you’re not so knowledgeable. I used to feel that way. Unfortunately over time you just learn more.

How is everyone doing?
i just finished norethisterone, still waiting for my period to come. Have all the symptoms but nothing :(. This is my first round of ivf/icsi so really not sure what to expect. Rang the clinic if I don’t start my period by tomorrow they will bring me in for a scan. I am due to start injections(meriofert)on Thursday evening.
Anyone else have similar experience?

Ru19 · 23/07/2024 12:10

Hi - would love to join! I'm doing my first round of mild ivf/icsi and due to start stims on the 1st August (ish - depending on when my period arrives). i have a fairly low amh of 5 (went from 12 down to 4 in 6 months, but a recent test showed it had gone up to 5 again(?!)
I've not done ivf before so going into this semi-blind, not knowing what to expect....
I'll be doing 3 back to back egg collections and a transfer at the end - is anyone else doing embryo batching? I don't know how I feel about doing so many in one go!
Wishing everyone lots of luck!

Firefly42 · 23/07/2024 12:20

Hi there@Sineadttc Yes I have had the same happen.Clinic always said I'd start 3 days after stopping but it was always day 4 for me.

Blossomofhope · 24/07/2024 08:24

Morning ladies,
How are we all doing?
I had such a disappointing scan this morning. After having 9 follicles at the baseline scan last week, I only have 4 now. In my last round I had 6 and ended up with 2 embryos. I’m so disappointed that it already seems like our chances are less than before. This is all so tough. 😔

Edited

I have 0 patience! It arrived last night, thankfully. I just don’t want any more bumps on the road. We have waited so long to get started.
@Blossomofhope, sorry to hear that!! don’t lose hope though, they always say you just need 1 to do the trick. I have read so many success stories with 1 embryo. X

GLizzie88 · 25/07/2024 17:37

It's so tough isn't it. You don't know what to think or how to feel about it all.
I had my nurse appointment and got told my meds etc, it seems quite simple compared to some, I don't know if that's a good thing or not?? I have 1 injection for 4 days, then switch to 2 until my hcg, then pessaries for 2 weeks.

Is anyone else on similar?

I won't find out anything else now until I call when my period starts, not due for a week and a half still.

Ya I’m fairly similar. I did one jab for four days and now I’m on my second day of two jabs. Scan tomorrow so will see but probs Egg collection next week.

camelinastorm · 25/07/2024 20:42

@Blossomofhope @GLizzie88 that sounds nice and easy, I'm on the same injections throughout so 10 days of one but it's 2 powders mixed together I start injections on the 3rd August...it's getting so close feels like everything is always on hold . Can't book holidays until we know, can't plan get togethers until we know

Mine has been fairly simple too.
I was on notheristone for 9 days then my period came. Tonight I’m starting the injections for 5 days then on 2 injections for another 4 days and I go for my first ultra sound. Seems fairly straightforward!
feeling nervous about first injection tonight. My other half is going to do the honours 😫

I feel exactly the same. We're trying to plan a short getaway after the transfer, but it's obviously going to be very last minute!! We had a holiday booked that we had to cancel so that's cost a small fortune.

Sounds like others are on similar, that makes me feel better! I'm still due to start actual injections the 6th or 7th if it goes to plan...

Scweggers · 25/07/2024 21:44

@Sineadttc Youv'e got a good husband there, mine is very squirmish but he offers his support and rubs my shoulder as I do them, it's something at least!

Thanks ladies. Good luck to you all too!!
it wasn’t as bad as I thought.

feeling it emotionally though!!

Scweggers · 25/07/2024 22:38

@Sineadttc So glad it went ok!!

I felt very emotional doing the first one too! The whole thing is a real emotional rollercoaster and that's without the bucket load of hormones that just make it a lot more intense

OP posts:
Blossomofhope · 26/07/2024 09:02

I honestly think the emotions are the worst part. I was saying that to me partner today. The expectation and disappointment cycle. So many highs and lows. Go easy on yourselves.

camelinastorm · 26/07/2024 13:16

Emotions are awful Ive just passed the due date I planned and wished for on my first round, keep seeing people with babies knowing thats what we had planned and tried for and now currently sorting meds for my 3rd full round, it's exhausting and expensive. No one really understands and my family are the type of it was meant to be it would happen naturally they have no understanding of how many people infertility effects
