Hi ladies,

Just wondered if anyone is due to start their IVF cycle this month and want to keep company?!

I will be starting my first round hopefully in just over a week's time, on a short protocol.
After 2 years ttc, hoping this is finally our year!

@Natty2 meeeeee 🙋

I'm the same, 2 years TTC and starting my first round on a mild protocol, I think thats the same and short? I'm with CREATE so not sure if it's just the wording! We had our consultation this morning and we were told I would be starting on 125IU Gonal F it's crazy we're at this stage!! AF is due 21st Jan but does like to keep me guessing month to month so hopefully this month I'm regular x

Drzoem · 04/01/2024 20:15

Me too!! Starting this month. Hopefully AF would be on time next week!!! Nervous and excited at the same time. TTC just over 2 years.

Natty2 · 04/01/2024 21:21

@waitingforourmiracle good luck! Hope your AF turns up on time 🤞
I will be starting on 150IU/L of Ovaleap

@Drzoem good luck too!

Keep us posted!

Hello all,
I started our first cycle of ICSIat the end of December thanks to a late show from Aunt Flo and a flurry of pregnancy tests.

I started on 300 units of gonal f injections which were easier than I thought thanks to ice packs. However, as my hormone levels were slow to rise, they upped my dose to 450 and extending my stun days from 10 to 12.

Since then, the *6 eggs I have have grown a bit more and I’ve had a shot yesterday and today for preventing ovulation. Next step for us is an ultrasound tomorrow to see whether egg extraction is to happen Monday or Tuesday (just before hubby flies to India for work).

I’d welcome any reassurance from anyone going through similar and I’m happy to share with anyone as nervous as I was going in to the whole process.

Wishing everyone a successful 2024 and looking forward to making connections with people on here. ❤️

waitingforourmiracle · 05/01/2024 10:23

@Natty2 good luck to you too!!

@Drzoem I hope AF shows up on time

@Pincushion83 I hope everything works out for you and good luck at your egg collection! Nice to hear Gonal f were easier than you thought! I'm fine with needles and blood tests etc don't bother me but I've never had to inject myself so hopefully I won't struggle!

Blossomofhope · 05/01/2024 14:25

@Natty2 hello! I’m also starting next week and have been trying for over two years now. This is our second round! I’m currently on progesterone so have to test Monday morning and if it’s negative start testosterone gel for 5 days.
Im both excited and apprehensive/dreading it. Best of luck to you. Is it your first time?

Pincushion83 · 06/01/2024 04:39

@Blossomofhope best of luck for your second round next week. Which part are you dreading the most? And what do you think you’ll do differently this time- if anything?

I feel a bit blind in the process and just going one appointment at a time. Any advice you can share would be greatly appreciated!

@waitingforourmiracle i hope all goes as planned for you, have you had to make any major changes before starting?

@Natty2 what a great idea for a thread- I hope everything’s going ok with you xx

Natty2 · 06/01/2024 07:44

@Pincushion83 good luck with your scan today! And all the best for egg retrieval, you will have to let us know how you get on

@Blossomofhope hoping this second round is the one for you 🤞 how did you find the whole process of injections/ egg retrieval/ transfer the first time? It's the first time for me so feeling excited but nervous too!

How is everyone doing on this thread?Im worried. And feeling so nervous. Because I thought my treatment would be significantly delayed i havent really been eating healthy nor have I been taking my vitamins. I kind of just want to relax especially during the festive season. Yesterday I've got a call to say I'm starting my treatment next week! And now I feel so stupid for not keeping on top of supplements for the past 2 months and having coffees and just eating anything and everything. I'm scared I've just ruined things for myself but I'm also so very excited. It is my first time, it will be ICSI as OH results have been borderline and my AMH was 17.9 i am doing the short protocol

Natty2 · 06/01/2024 14:42

@Sherr33 don't be too hard on yourself! I gave myself abit of time off over the festive period too, the main thing is trying not to go into it too stressed, so try to focus on the next few weeks ☺️

Mine will be ICSI too and our first time as well, just waiting for Day 1 now 🕰️ good luck!

Thank you! We've cut down massively on drinking as we have a social circle who love a drink! We're now going t-total until we start treatment, I'm taking folic acid and vitamin D but I've been doing this for the last 2 years and my boyfriend is taking zinc. Eating a little better but again no major change to our diet and trying to drink more water! X

Lasagne30 · 07/01/2024 06:06

Hey ladies!
First time. VERY nervous. I'll be starting my injections very soon. Got AF today so I'll be taking my pill tomorrow and going from there. After reading a few of these threads, I didn't realise they did the base scan on your period so not looking forward to that but appreciate the heads up lol

Natty2 · 07/01/2024 08:41

@Lasagne30
I think the protocol differs for everyone based on their situation and maybe also different clinics.
I have to call my clinic on day 1 and start injections on day 2 with scans and bloods starting from day 7.
Good luck with your next steps!

Lasagne30 · 07/01/2024 08:54

Yeah I think this is true. Thanks. It's nice to know we're not going through it alone. I'm finding it quite scary and overwhelming

Natty2 · 07/01/2024 09:11

@Lasagne30 you got this 💪 we can all support each other on here ☺️

OP posts:
Sherr33 · 07/01/2024 09:29

@Natty2 @Lasagne30 first timers? Sorry but I'm so excited to find some people doing treatment similar time. I think it will help me (or drive me insane comparing!) Depends on the day I guess 😂
Im picking my medication up on Monday, doing swabs for STI previous ones were done that long ago they need new ones and bloods etc then hopefully my period arrives Tuesday/Wednesday i then have to call my clinic and theyl arrange a scan and I think its go go go from there ? Il have concrete answers tomorrow. Have you got your medication? I know il be having Gonal F but not sure about anything else. Il share the meds tomorrow once I have them

Natty2 · 07/01/2024 11:12

@Sherr33 my meds arrive tomorrow! I think there's a couple of people on here starting with Gonal F, Im starting with Ovaleap

OP posts:
Lasagne30 · 07/01/2024 11:16

I pick my meds up tomorrow also. I will be doing Gonal F. Looks like we'll all be going together haha Comforting in a way

Sherr33 · 07/01/2024 17:06

@Natty2 @Lasagne30 when were you shown how to use the injections and meds? I know CARE Fertility who i will be with have online tutorials which I've been looking at today. I'm a bit unsure where to insert the progesterone pessary. For me i feel that is going to be the most frustrating part.

Natty2 · 07/01/2024 18:22

@Sherr33 I was shown it at the nurse planning appointment but that was a month ago for us. They advised just looking at the vids online closer to the time.
Yes not looking forward to the pessary stage! They recommended rectally was the most effective. Taking it vaginally means having to lie down for abit after I think and can leak out more 🫤

OP posts:
Lasagne30 · 07/01/2024 20:47

Yeah at the initial consultation with the nurse, she went into a lot of detail.
Especially with the injections which was good, showed how much flab I should grab and where lol very specific
Our nurse told us they were vaginal pills-nothing about rectal

Lasagne30 · 07/01/2024 21:44

@Natty2 @Sherr33 What are your thoughts on the pain relief for the egg collection?
I have the option for the lighter pain relief ie the green whistle but I am thinking about opting in for the anaesthetic sedation to be on the safe side.

Sherr33 · 07/01/2024 22:39

@Lasagne30 nobody has mentioned anything about pain relief :-/ I think for me they said it wouldn't be going under completely I would be awake for it so maybe they will? I mean they'll have to give me something 👀 I will ask them tomorrow

Lasagne30 · 08/01/2024 01:46

@Sherr33 The consult doctor told me that he had about 2 in every 100 patients that he had to stop the procedure for as they were in too much pain. It's not many but knowing my luck I would be one of the 2 😂

Natty2 · 08/01/2024 06:18

@Lasagne30 for me I've been advised to take a pain relief suppository the morning of egg collection, which will help post recovery
The procedure will be under deep sedation
