Hi ladies,

Just wondered if anyone is due to start their IVF cycle this month and want to keep company?!

I will be starting my first round hopefully in just over a week's time, on a short protocol.
After 2 years ttc, hoping this is finally our year!

Update from me. AF has arrived 🙌 im going in on Thursday for scan and taking my meds with me as it is at this appointment where they tell me about the dosage and how to take the meds. I don't know how to feel as currently in a lot of pain. I always get really bad period pains for first 2 days 😭

waitingforourmiracle · 09/01/2024 14:10

@Sherr33 good luck! X

Bruceytwo · 09/01/2024 18:19

@Sherr33 good luck!

@waitingforourmiracle I've now done two injections and they've been a breeze. No pain and no side effects so far. I got a little nervous and had a last minute panic thinking I had the wrong dose but it was fine.

SocialPR · 09/01/2024 21:52

Hi ladies - wondering if anyone has been following a fertility Nutrition plan? After 1st cycle fail on ICSI interested to see if anyone is following a certain food plan?

Lasagne30 · 10/01/2024 01:16

@SocialPR I too am interested in this. Want to do everything/anything that can help! Sorry to hear your first cycle failed.
Does anyone know what the success rate is for a first cycle?

Lasagne30 · 10/01/2024 01:18

@Sherr33 Same!! Seriously debilitating. The older I get, the worse they get also. Honestly one of the things I'm looking forward to is 9 months of no period and cramps HAHAHA

Sherr33 · 10/01/2024 07:11

@SocialPR I would love to know too. I feel like I'm not prepared in that regard. If you find any info please share

@Lasagne30 haha that's what i say!

Natty2 · 10/01/2024 07:48

@Sherr33 good luck with the start of your cycle

@SocialPR not been following a strict fertility diet but have had no caffeine for a long time now, and as of last week cut all sugar and carbs. Generally eat lots of grains/ veg/ seeds etc anyway
Will be trying acupuncture too as it's meant to help

Unfortunately we've been told that the success rate on the first cycle is 50/50 or less. With the rates increasing each cycle. This is why most end up being successful on their second transfer, but everyone is different! Although we are going into this with positive thoughts, we are mindful that it may not work right away

Lasagne30 · 10/01/2024 08:47

@SocialPR 50% is higher than I was expecting. I guess age would also have an impact on this. I'm only 33 but I feel like that is ancient in baby making years LOL

waitingforourmiracle · 10/01/2024 10:08

@Bruceytwo oh good, so glad it's been ok for you!

@SocialPR I've not really, I only have 1 coffee a day when I get to work, cut down massively on alcohol and now not drinking any at all! My new years resolution was to drink more water, apart from that trying to eat more greens and veg as I hate it!

@Natty2 how are you? Any sign of AF yet x

Blossomofhope · 10/01/2024 10:28

On the food plan front I generally limit myself to just one coffee in the morning and then decaf. My doc advised to try do gluten free and dairy free as much as poss so I’ve made changes like oat milk and gluten free bread. I have heard others on forums say dairy is important though. So it’s confusing like everything else fertility 😆
I wish there was more solid guidance. Everything feels trial and error and changes person to person.

Blossomofhope · 10/01/2024 12:14

Also day 1 for me today, scan tomorrow. I picked up my prescription yesterday and there were 16 things on it 😅 … I really hope this round is more successful than the last. I’m not doing down reg this time and I’m on a different protocol with steroids. Both scared and excited. I think looks like we’ve a mix or first and second timers here?

Sherr33 · 10/01/2024 12:25

@Blossomofhope this is my first round. And my scan is tomorrow too. My day 1 was yesterday which I'm not looking forward to knowing what the scan involves whilst during period ☹😩

Natty2 · 10/01/2024 13:18

@waitingforourmiracle no sign yet! I think maybe by the weekend 🤞
Were you getting your meds today?

@Blossomofhope good luck with your second round!

waitingforourmiracle · 10/01/2024 13:26

@Natty2 fingers crossed! It's been delivered, my father in law sat in for us to sign and put it in the fridge, I was like a crazy stalker watching the camera from work hahaha.

@Blossomofhope good luck!! X

Blossomofhope · 10/01/2024 13:32

@Sherr33 I know, it is a bit grim having the scan on your period but they do it all the time so they don’t take much notice. Plus it’s super quick cause they’re not measuring follicles etc usually. It’s a good feeling when the first one is out of the way.
Do you know what jabs you’re on? I find the wildest part of all this is doing it in secret around work.

Blossomofhope · 10/01/2024 13:32

@waitingforourmiracle thanks so much!

Sherr33 · 10/01/2024 15:16

@Blossomofhope I know there's Gonal F i cant remember the rest I havent looked at my meds since I got them! Once I know dose etc il update you tomorrow and we can compare haha (the last thing one should be doing but its just excitement at this stage)

waitingforourmiracle · 10/01/2024 15:54

One thing I've noticed is that on general protocol timeline information I've had it says about taking luteal support medication after egg transfer which I'm guessing is the progesterone suppositories but no one has mentioned these to me, does everyone need them or is everyone different? I'll speak to the clinic but thought I'd ask the question here first to see if anyone knows x

Natty2 · 10/01/2024 16:02

@waitingforourmiracle I think we are on similar protocols, and I have received all my progesterone medication which I take day after egg retrieval, 3 times a day. I understand that you may have to take this for the whole first trimester if successful but that's not confirmed!

Our nurse explained that with the ivf meds it slows down your bodies ability to produce progesterone which is necessary for implantation
I'm not a medical expert though!! 😅 but I'm
Sure your clinic will advise ☺️

waitingforourmiracle · 10/01/2024 16:36

@Natty2 thank you!! I'll check the medication when I'm home from work if I can't see anything I'll email the clinic x

Drzoem · 10/01/2024 16:44

periods didn’t start today 🤦🏼‍♀️ now we wait again until tomorrow. You know that little tiny bit of hope in your heart that you’re pregnant!! But this had been the case every month for the past 3 years and never actually got a positive pregnancy test.

waitingforourmiracle · 10/01/2024 16:47

@Drzoem oh I know it all to well! 😔hopefully it's not too long of a wait x

Natty2 · 10/01/2024 17:00

@Drzoem I know the feeling! I've still been bbt tracking this month and it's quite high and not really dropping at the moment, but I know af will still arrive as it has done everytime
Fingers crossed for you!
