Hi ladies,

Just wondered if anyone is due to start their IVF cycle this month and want to keep company?!

I will be starting my first round hopefully in just over a week's time, on a short protocol.
After 2 years ttc, hoping this is finally our year!

@Pincushion83 weirdly I always dread picking up the prescription. The scans and egg collection were fine - managing around work is the stressy part. And then obv the transfer day is stressful and the wait after it.

not sure I’ll do much different - my meds are different so that’s a change. I’ll prob try and stay somewhat active - yoga, walks etc and maybe journal for mental health. But honestly so much of it is just outside our control.

Blossomofhope · 08/01/2024 08:39

@Natty2 the injections were fine - my partner did them. You get used to them pretty quick. Egg collection is totally fine, it’s like you just have a nap 😂 .. transfer I didn’t love - not because it was sore or anything but just because the doc nurse and embryologist were all men and I didn’t expect that. But it was very quick. I had no major side effects or anything. Just need it to work this time. 😂 how are you feeling?

Lasagne30 · 08/01/2024 09:45

@Natty2 So sedated as in unconscious? So I picked up my meds. Wow there's alot 🤣 Excited but terrified at the same time

Natty2 · 08/01/2024 10:09

@Lasagne30 yes, I've had it before and I was completely out! But you recover a lot quicker than general
That's exciting! Mine are being delivered this afternoon

@Blossomofhope fingers crossed for this next round for you! I think the % of success goes up way more the second time
I'm doing ok thanks, meds arrive this afternoon so feeling excited and waiting for Day 1 later this week

My meds are being delivered on Wednesday! Been doing OPKs to see where I'm up to in my cycle but the ones I've bought are crap so another order of the ones I was originally using :)
No one has even mentioned the progesterone pessary to me! I've read about them so know what to expect, I'll have to see if they are part of my proscription!
I'm with create they have said it will be under sedation!
I'm about 10 days behind everyone so please all let me know how you get on!! 💜

Pincushion83 · 08/01/2024 13:15

I’m so excited for us all!!

I really recommend an ice pack before you inject. Its ok without, but by day 5 I was over it and giving the bruised areas an icing for good measure.

My eggs are being collected tomorrow and I’m so bloated today! Last night was the trigger shot. They did an ultrasound on Saturday and there should be at least 6 mature eggs. I hope the others managed to grow over the last two days, as I’ve got low numbers. But at least more than 1!

Im being sedated but I’ll be asleep according to my nurse. I’ll recover for a couple of hours and they expect me to be home just after lunch.

It moves pretty quickly from tomorrow, it’s all in the hands of science now!

Good luck everyone with your injections, the main message to me was rest and put feet up as much as possible.

xx

waitingforourmiracle · 08/01/2024 13:18

@Pincushion83 good luck!! Xx

Natty2 · 08/01/2024 13:20

@Pincushion83 such an exciting stage for you, all the best for tomorrow!

@waitingforourmiracle we can keep you posted on what to expect! Waiting a few more hours before my meds arrive and never looked forward to af arriving so much before 😅

waitingforourmiracle · 08/01/2024 13:31

@Natty2 thank you! And me too!!

I've just been and bought all perfume free shampoos, conditioners and body wash so going to swap them from now on!

Sherr33 · 08/01/2024 16:21

I've picked up my meds. But im confused im having lubion injections and pessary because I cant do the pessary twice a day because if my ibs and I don't want to take it vaginally BUT there's no needles or syringes for the lubion vials.

Also im on Gonal F, Ganirelix, Oviterelle and cyclogest (hope ive spelt that correctly). But no idea about dosage or how to use 🤔 😩

Sherr33 · 08/01/2024 16:22

Im confused are we not allowed anything perfumed?

waitingforourmiracle · 08/01/2024 16:26

Sherr33 · 08/01/2024 16:22

Im confused are we not allowed anything perfumed?

I read it on a thread earlier that was tips on how to prepare for IVF so I'm just being cautious!

We got told about dosage during the treatment consultation, I'd ring the clinic and ask for a little more information x

Natty2 · 08/01/2024 16:29

@Sherr33 sounds like you need to call the clinic , they should provide you with a schedule and then tailor the calendar to suit when you start

OP posts:
Sherr33 · 08/01/2024 16:31

I tried calling but I think they are closed. I will have to catch them in the morning.
My appetite is so low at the moment and my migraines are terrible. This always happens at the time of the month. 😩

Blossomofhope · 08/01/2024 17:34

@Natty2 The amount of meds can be quite daunting but it’s honestly ok. I ordered mine today and the chemist said there’s 16 things 😅 .. I kind of just want to get started now. I started testosterone today for a few days

Lasagne30 · 09/01/2024 01:33

@Natty2 @Blossomofhope It's interesting how they tailor everything to suit individuals. I don't have testosterone in my kit.
I started my pill yesterday and will continue on that for 2 weeks before I start my injections on the 27th

Lasagne30 · 09/01/2024 01:36

@Sherr33 It's very unusual that in your initial consult they didn't go through all of this with you. My nurse was amazing-she showed us how to dial up the pen and even showed us how to screw a needle on, where to inject, how much fat to grab lol

Sherr33 · 09/01/2024 07:10

@Lasagne30 I was hoping mine showed me too. I'm wondering maybe on my scan day theyl go over it? Well I'm hoping they do. Ideally would have made sense to go over it before I got my meds.

How is everyone getting on?

Bruceytwo · 09/01/2024 09:42

Hi all, may I join?

Starting IVF this month for the first time, am doing a short protocol and had my first injection of Gonal-f yesterday evening!

Due for a scan at the weekend then all being well I'll be scheduled for collection and transfer. Going overseas for it so a bit of faff there but getting excited!

I was also overwhelmed by all the drugs! A whole fridge drawer was filled up over Christmas for guests to have a peek at haha.

Hope everyone is feeling good this morning!

Sherr33 · 09/01/2024 10:24

Hiii @Bruceytwo welcome!
Where are you going for your treatment?
I keep looking at my medication just waiting for flo flo at the moment 🙈

@Natty2 @Lasagne30 my clinic said that they have the syringes and needles for my lubion injections and when I go for my first scan im to bring my medication with me so they can show me how to inject and how much. They said it would be easier as this way itl be fresh in our mind yay. I'm super relieved 😌

Natty2 · 09/01/2024 12:10

Hi @Bruceytwo !
Exciting that you have started on your injections! Hope it all goes well for you.
I'm currently waiting for AF to arrive which I hope will be this weekend then I won't be too far behind you

OP posts:
Natty2 · 09/01/2024 12:11

@Sherr33 that's reassuring! Glad they will be fully explaining everything to you

OP posts:
Bruceytwo · 09/01/2024 12:39

@Sherr33 Thanks! We're having treatment in Denmark for various reasons. It's a pain to go out there but am looking forward to a holiday.

@Natty2 fingers crossed for AF to be punctual!

waitingforourmiracle · 09/01/2024 12:55

@Bruceytwo how did you find the Gonal F injection? My meds are due to arrive tomorrow!

I've been going crazy with OPKS and doesn't look like I've hit the peak yet so I'm convinced AF will be late as usual and it will be a guessing game when I start!
