Starting IVF January 2024

Hi ladies,

Just wondered if anyone is due to start their IVF cycle this month and want to keep company?!

I will be starting my first round hopefully in just over a week's time, on a short protocol.
After 2 years ttc, hoping this is finally our year!

@Drzoem have they discussed increasing your medication, I had my day 6 scan today too and they are increasing my dose.
Afraid I'm not sure what happens when you take the trigger without planned egg collection.
But maybe they think that would benefit you depending on your reason behind ivf?
For us it's male factor, so needs to be ICSI, so not having an egg collection wouldn't work for us.
I hope you manage to work things out 🤞

@Natty2 that's a nice big jump for your meds so def a positive, I thought I was out with my slow start but they jumped after I upped my dose so stay positive and I hope it gives you the boost!

@Drzoem I'm sorry you didn't have the news you expected, I had to abandoned my first ivf cycle too as had about 3 so I feel your pain. I'd probably try the trigger and see what happens tbh! Worth a shot and if you're lucky enough could save you having to go through all of this again, you won't lose anything by trying!

I had another scan today, eggies are still growing and lining was 9.5 so a little slow but getting there. they reckon either Monday or maybe Wednesday for egg collection next week which messes me up a bit workwise but it isn't be helped... just anxious to get everything confirmed and booked up so I know where I am. my stomach is sooo swollen today though!🤣🤪

@Blossomofhope did you have a scan today too? how did you get on?

Ya had my third scan. It went ok - seems the largest follicle is now 15, some of the smaller ones have grown but still only looking like I’ll collect 5 eggs. I’m a little bit disappointed with todays progress but I know it’s quality that matters and hopefully that’s ok 😬
Back on Friday for next scan.
How are you guys doing?

Sounds like you are making good progress! Will they let you know on Friday when the collection will be?

@Blossomofhope definitely quality over quantity and that's exactly what my nurse said as we were leaving. Keeping my fingers crossed for you for Friday 🤞🤞

@Natty2 ok Thankyou just said everything was fine and as expected really. how was your first? Got 2 more days of Ovaleap and Garillex what meds have you been given?
hoping to get a date for egg retrieval on Friday for next week but we shall see.

@Vian67 that's good, fingers crossed for your next scan.
I'm on the same meds although they've upped my Ovaleap today from 150iu to 375iu as they were expecting more follicles, so hoping that will help

Had my 2nd scan yesterday. I have 10 follicles, 3 are at 18mm, 3 should get there today, and they’re hoping the last 4 will catch up soon. They are largely concentrated on my right side - makes sense why I’m so sore there!

They said 8-12 follicles is their dream number. So, I guess I’m happy!

They’ve scheduled my ER for Sunday morning. Getting nervous now! I asked for some conscious sedation (we can’t get be put under here) as I’m so anxious and jumpy during anything vaginal, and they’ve agreed thankfully.

@Copenhagener that's amazing, fingers crossed for you for Sunday!! make sure you rest up over the weekend. How are you feeling?

I'm a bit anxious tonight for my scan in the morning... am hoping I can go for egg retrieval Monday or Wednesday next week and that there's been a bit more progress 🤞🙏

@Copenhagener great news! Did you have your last scan before egg retrieval? Best of luck for Sunday, hope it all goes well! 🤞

@Blossomofhope @cbear1989 good luck for your scans today, hope you are both on track for next week too. I have my second one and hoping the follicles are growing well 🤞🤞

@Vian67 im based in Berkshire although they would have based my dose on my baseline scan. Hopefully, the extra dose has helped

@Natty2 Just back from my scan, still looking like 5 eggs will be best case scenario. One is only size 11 so may only collect 4. Disappointing considering I had a few more in the last round but what can you do. I’ve asked them to upload the scans to the app so I can take a look. I don’t know about you but I find it hard to take everything in for those few minutes in the scan room and come out trying to remember all the details for my partner.

@cbear1989 keep up posted on how yours goes too

looks like I’ll be doing EC on Monday I think but they’ll confirm later once they’ve checked the blood test results and spoke to the doctor. How are you doing @Natty2?

Just waiting at the very busy hospital pharmacy for my top up drugs, I'm so happy I've already cried happy tears 😅🤣

I really thought it was gonna be weds for my retrieval but had another growth spurt and am booked in for Monday morning. I should hopefully get about 8 or 9 eggs hopefully which I'm happy with, I've got about 4 that are already at about 19mm-21mm or so and some others that still have time to try and catch up a little. So last jabs tomorrow, which is good as I'm running out of space to do them by now!

Hope everyone is feeling okay, and my follicle growth has been so up and down for anyone worried if there's are a little slow do not lose hope anything can happen ♥️♥️

Hope your bloods have come back ok. Can your partner come in next time? Mine has managed to be in for these so I've asked him to look closely at the sizes!

@cbear1989 glad you are getting on ok! Those triple meds must have really helped! I've just had my second scan and waiting for extra meds as I'll run out on Sunday!
Things seem to be going ok, they are growing as they should so really hoping it keeps improving early next week. At the moment egg retrieval is supposed to be next Friday, so got some time yet 🤞

@Natty2 sounds like you're making good progress! I've found with mine they kept speeding up and then slowing down again a few times so you'll be fine, when's your next scan to check how you're going? x

@Natty2 @cbear1989 Thanks so much for the messages. I’m not telling anyone about this treatment while doing it so nice to chat here. I got the go ahead for egg collection on Monday morning. Eek! Glad it wasn’t cancelled though! 🙂

@Blossomofhope any time!! if you've not told anybody you def need that release rather than bottling it up or you drive yourself crazy. Yay for Monday morning!! Make sure you rest up this weekend and do some self care. I plan to chill and watch disney movies for most of mine 🤣😍

@cbear1989 That sounds like a great way to spend the weekend!! Remind me is this your first round? It works out well for work that transfer will be Saturday 🙂

@Blossomofhope first proper one yes, I've been doing clomid and trigger shots since 2022 and tried my first ivf cycle in November last year but abandoned it at the point of booking egg retrieval 😅 so am very happy I've gotten a little further this time at least.

They haven't talked to me about transfer yet so not too much when they'll plan that in, just hoping I get enough good quality embryos🙏♥️

Just heard from my nurse tbf. Trigger shot has to be at 10pm tomorrow and then Sunday a nice day off from jabs 🤣🤪

Make sure you do something nice and relaxing this weekend and will be thinking you Monday morning too! xx
