Hi there, I start my medication for a fresh IVF round in September. Im not the best at navigating mumsnet and wondering if there are any groups set up for people starting around the same time? X

First scan yesterday and all went well, saw and heard the little heartbeat. Hoping I can relax a little now - at least for a couple of weeks!

JadeAC · 19/12/2023 21:14

@fsr111 awwww congratulations! Bet that’s a weight off! Won’t be long and you’ll get your 12 week one!

TheFanciestPants · 19/12/2023 21:24

@fsr111 lovely news! Congratulations 🎊 , another hurdle passed 👏 , are you having many symptoms?
@JadeAC I followed your example and had a reassurance scan over the weekend and baby has got so big already. How are you getting on? Are you now in the sunlit uplands of the second trimester ,all the literature seems to say it's much better than the first (I am very hopeful!) ? 🤔

JadeAC · 19/12/2023 22:57

@TheFanciestPants oh that’s good news! To be fair I had an ok first trimester but right from the start my only real symptom has been excessive tiredness. I just can’t be bothered to do anything and always feel exhausted. Maybe it’s age or could be I lost 3 and a half stone for the ivf and did it quite quickly so that may have shattered me. Can’t grumble though as that really had nausea some people get sounds horrendous

Thanks guys! It was definitely a weight off, feel like I can start to get a bit excited now. @TheFanciestPants I've been feeling pretty rotten, the tiredness is next level and I feel nauseous quite a lot of the time too. Making work difficult. I wondered if the tiredness is worse because of the Progesterone. I was exhausted from it before I got a BFP so thinking it can't be helping. Roll on 12 weeks! Great that your scan went well, nice to see baby growing. Are you ten weeks now?
@JadeAC amazing that you lost that much weight before starting IVF, no easy job!

fsr111 · 26/01/2024 18:39

Hey guys, it's a sad update from me. Finally reached the 12 week NHS scan on Tuesday to find baby had stopped growing around 8 weeks and there was no heartbeat. The progesterone had held back any symptoms from giving me any idea that had happened. Had surgery today to manage the miscarriage. Feels desperately unfair, especially after the IVF journey already and seeing a heart beat at 6+ weeks. Can't imagine trying again, feels like the end of the road for me. Sending you all the love for your babies, hope you're doing well @JadeAC and @TheFanciestPants and also that your thyroid figures are heading in the right direction now too @StormsPassIVF 🤍

JadeAC · 26/01/2024 19:02

@fsr111 im so sorry, I can’t imagine how painful that was. You’re right, it is desperately unfair. I don’t even know what to say I’m just so sorry.

TheFanciestPants · 26/01/2024 19:14

@fsr111 I am so, so sorry for your loss. It's completely unfair especially after seeing the heartbeat. Pregnancy loss is horrific and IVF just adds to that.

Please take some time for yourself after such a tough week and we will be thinking of you.

StormsPassIVF · 30/01/2024 06:51

@fsr111 oh goodness, I’m so sorry for your loss. You are right it is so unfair after such a long journey.

I hope you can give yourself some time physically and emotionally to rest and recover and that in time this gives you hope that it is possible for you if you in time want to try again.

Thank you for checking in on us. My thyroid figures are ok now so we are planning for my 2nd transfer next month. BUT the last few months have been an awful health rollercoaster but I’m almost out the other side of it xx

JadeAC · 30/01/2024 10:36

@StormsPassIVF you just don’t know what’s going to crop up do you. Hard to know what to expect when curve balls get thrown. Do you have to do injections again or is it straight to transfer?

StormsPassIVF · 30/01/2024 13:57

@JadeAC so true! It’s too dull to go into details but I was unwell having some sort of inflammatory response but that has settled now luckily so as long as nothing else crops up I’m ready to go. Although now they have decided to transfer one not two as I’m now higher risk.

So last time I had ovamex injections for the first 7 days but this time I will only be on the estrogen tablets I think then I switch to progesterone pessaries and progesterone injections.

My day 1 won’t be until middle of Feb so I’ve got a bit of time to wait.

IVF must feel so long ago for you now!! Are you off all of the medications now?

JadeAC · 30/01/2024 14:26

@StormsPassIVF yes, I’m 21 weeks now. I haven’t been on meds since about the 10th week. You get weened off progesterone after 8week scan. One of the downsides of this process is I think we’ve become exposed to a lot of things going wrong so I don’t think we can ever totally enjoy the pregnancy like others can. I’m so grateful to be in this position and don’t have any anxiety or anything but I don’t feel totally relaxed either and I don’t think I will until the baby gets here which is a shame.

TheFanciestPants · 25/06/2024 16:38

@JadeAC just thought I would check in and see how you are getting on?

Guessing you might have a little one by now?

@StormsPassIVF fingers crossed your journey has got a little easier.

Natasha90 · 28/06/2024 16:24
