Hi there, I start my medication for a fresh IVF round in September. Im not the best at navigating mumsnet and wondering if there are any groups set up for people starting around the same time? X

That sounds awful @LavenderJoy fingers crossed everything is ok. It’s a great sign that you have seen a heartbeat again!

West8690 · 09/11/2023 07:04

@Chickencrazy3356 good luck, fingers crossed those fries have done their job! I hope you don't drive yourself too crazy for the next 2 weeks 😝

@LavenderJoy you poor thing, how far along are you now? I think the early stages are really scary and exhausting - I've been throwing up since 1 week PT and what my body will let me eat changes every day 🙈

@StormsPassIVF I can't believe your clinic didn't check your thyroid before now, it's one of the basic blood tests my clinic do before we start a round. It's crazy how differently each clinic approaches treatment. How are you feeling? xxx

LavenderJoy · 09/11/2023 10:08

Thank you @JadeAC and @West8690 , I'll be 9 weeks on Saturday.
I know the nausea is awful, I've been feeling sick 24/7 and only sick every now and again, but it's the constant feeling sick and hungry is horrible haha
I'm just trying to keep as positive as I can, I keep thinking it must be a good sign if the baby is growing to the exact measurements 🤞

TheFanciestPants · 09/11/2023 10:22

@StormsPassIVF urgh, I am so sorry your clinic didn't check this. It feels a really basic thing to miss, but it's definitely better to know now than later on.
If it helps, I also had a total blood count done before our cycle (privately) just to make sure my health was optimised.
I definitely most clinics are quite blase about general health as it can really impact your cycle.
Fingers crossed for your frosties, when you get there.
@LavenderJoy @West8690 great news on your scans.
@JadeAC how is pregnancy treating you?
@fsr111 good luck with your FET

Update from me, it is my OTD today and I took 3 tests at 5am(!) and all have 2 lines. Definitely too early to get excited but another hurdle passed...
I have had really bad back ache/hip pain for about a week and been feeling pretty grotty, so at this stage just glad it's not all in my head 🤣

JadeAC · 09/11/2023 10:27

Awww congratulations @TheFanciestPants I totally understand the caution as I was the same but that’s great news! I’m ok. I have a weird nausea that only happens after I’ve eaten something. It’s like a trick. I feel good so I eat then I get whacked by nausea haha

TheFanciestPants · 09/11/2023 16:57

Thanks so much @JadeAC . That sounds like a really unhelpful pregnancy symptom 🤣 So glad you are getting on well ❤️
I think you are also an NHS, so I let the clinic know my test result and have my 7 week scan booked for end of November.
Do I also separately need to submit the online form for a midwife appointment or does the clinic do that for me?
Sorry, it just occurred to me now, the clinic didn't mention it but I didn't ask either🤔

JadeAC · 09/11/2023 17:49

No you need to do it. I didn’t think you did as I’d downloaded this app they tell you to but then I didn’t hear anything so I chased it up. Got an appointment for 18th so will be just over 10weeks

LavenderJoy · 09/11/2023 18:46

@TheFanciestPants I rang my doctors after my scan to book and gave them my letter from the clinic, I had my first midwife appontment today at 8+5 😊 I think they aim for between 8-10 weeks x

Chickencrazy3356 · 09/11/2023 20:20

Thank you so much ladies I’m not sure why but my clinic told me to test next Thursday so that’s 10 days after transfer I think maybe because we did FET so at least this time next week I’ll know. If I’m honest I’m not feeling optimistic but I don’t know if I’m just exhausted from back to back rounds since May and I had a bladder operation the day before transfer so might be all the anaesthetic

ive been put onto blood thinners since transfer and wondered if anybody else had this and what it is for ?

Chickencrazy3356 · 09/11/2023 20:24

Sorry I also forgot to ask how much activities did everybody do post transfer, we are really lucky that we have a rescue of farm animals and so usually I’m lifting hay mucking out carrying water buckets wheelbarrows etc and doing 30k plus steps a day,

I’ve tried to stop heavy lifting buckets and hay etc but I’m still doing a lot of walking but light jobs rather than heavy lifting but today I climbed a fence to feed some of the animals and then suddenly had a total panic that it could stop the embryo sticking. I just wondered did everybody stop any physical activities or carry on as normal ? I never thought we’d get as far as a FET so now I’ve got all these questions and worries !! My husband and mum have said they are more than happy to do absolutely everything for me but I struggle to sit still and worry !

StormsPassIVF · 09/11/2023 21:33

feeling ok thanks @West8690 have a follow up mid December after my bloods to see if the thyroid meds have done the trick - if they have we should be good for a Jan FET fingers crossed!

good luck for your scan and for @LavenderJoy too!!

we must be a lucky thread here so many BFPs it’s lovely to hear - and huge congratulations @TheFanciestPants

@fsr111 good luck for your FET 🤍

JadeAC · 09/11/2023 23:02

Good luck @fsr111 🤞

Oh what a lovely thing to do for work @Chickencrazy3356 sounds idilic. I didn’t do much but I’m not a very outdoorsy or active person by nature so I loved just relaxing. I did fall down the last stair of car park at the hospital and really banged my knees. I was distraught but nurse said not to worry everything is really protected so would prob have been ok even if I’d gone on my stomach at that stage. I people all over the world who work incredibly hard manual jobs fall pregnant naturally so it obviously doesn’t affect implanting really. We just worry I think.

TheFanciestPants · 10/11/2023 09:53

@JadeAC you poor thing. So glad you were ok and hope your knees are healing ❤️. Maybe it's a thing as after embryo transfer I slipped down the last two stairs in my house and I was inconsolable as well as an impressively bruised bottom! My husband banned me from unsupervised stair usage for the rest of the day 🤣
@Chickencrazy3356 sounds like a lovely lifestyle. I think blood thinners can help implantation/pregnancy. I had an NHS cycle so no add ons, but I know a few people they worked for🤞🤞🤞
On the exercise front, I think it's personal choice. I did a lot of exercise before IVF but I have been taking it super easy. Limiting to 12500 steps and Yin yoga (gentle stretching ending in snoozing under a blanket!). I have had really bad back pain and feel shattered so I somehow don't think I will be a pregnant person doing HIIT classes 🙃
Emily Oyster has a really good evidence based book on data around activities to do with conception/pregnancy. But I do think IVF is such a stressful process that you should also just be really kind to yourself and focus on what works for you both physically and mentally.
I hope that helps x

Chickencrazy3356 · 11/11/2023 20:11

@JadeAC your so right woman do have manual jobs and have babies but it seems once we enter the IVF world you worry anything and everything is causing it to fail . I am such a worrier which is not good in this process

@TheFanciestPants thanj you so much for your reply and it’s so helpful I will have a look at Emily Oyster book I don’t think we can win either way if I lay in bed for 2 weeks and got a negative I’d worry it was because I didn’t do anything if I act normal I’m now worried I’ve caused it to fail !

Chickencrazy3356 · 11/11/2023 20:13

Did anybody have any cramping post the transfer ? I didn’t have too bad pain but today ( 4days after FET) I’ve got really bad pain which I think is period pain I’ve resigned myself to the fact my transfer hasn’t worked. I went down the rabbit hole of Googling symptoms

JadeAC · 11/11/2023 20:23

@Chickencrazy3356 cramping was my main symptom. I had it from transfer till well after OTD. Exactly same feeling as period coming. I was so disheartened as I was certain period was coming any day. I know it’s different for everyone and one symptom for one can mean something different for someone else but don’t count yourself out as cramping for me was a great sign

TheFanciestPants · 11/11/2023 20:26

@Chickencrazy3356 not to raise hopes too much, but in my experience it could be good! I had really bad lower back ache from day 4 and I got some cramping too.
The cramping stopped on day 6/7 post transfer and the back ache continues to be a delight! 😄
I read online that day 4 is when the embryo normally starts to implant if it was a day 5 transfer. My acupuncturist said a lot of women don't notice but she wasn't concerned about cramps on day 5 when I saw her. In fact she was super happy and kept smiling and said something is different so I was hopeful we were in with a good chance.
Massive good luck 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

fsr111 · 12/11/2023 08:46

@Chickencrazy3356 - totally know what you mean about the activity levels, you can't actually win with this journey I think. Sending you all the positivity for your wait. OTD will be here before you know it!

Had a scan on Friday and lining was 8.8mm, progesterone level were <1.0 so
I'm good to go. Starting the progesterone yesterday and today the stomach upset is back. Had conveniently forgotten about this side effect! FET is booked in for Thursday, all being well with the thaw 🤞

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

JadeAC · 12/11/2023 12:24

@fsr111 thats great news! How exciting!

StormsPassIVF · 13/11/2023 08:03

@fsr111 thats great news! Good luck for Thursday 🙂

JadeAC · 15/11/2023 20:11

StormsPassIVF · 16/11/2023 06:13

Happy transfer day @fsr111 !!!!!

fsr111 · 16/11/2023 06:53

Thanks guys! 🤞 Already dreading the TWW!

How are you getting on @Chickencrazy3356? Where was OTD again?

TheFanciestPants · 16/11/2023 07:20

Good luck @fsr111 ! You have got this 💪🤞🙏

West8690 · 18/11/2023 09:51

I had my 7 week scan and all was fine with a good strong heartbeat. We went yesterday for our 9 week scan and they discovered twins but neither had a heartbeat. I am honestly just broken. I’ve had to come off all meds again and hopefully things will happen naturally, if not I’m back at hospital on Friday.

I can't believe that this is our third loss in a row. 4 babies in 12 months. The consultant was totally shocked and the nurse was crying, I just don't understand what I keep doing wrong
