Hi there, I start my medication for a fresh IVF round in September. Im not the best at navigating mumsnet and wondering if there are any groups set up for people starting around the same time? X

@Natasha90 im sorry to hear the news.

I just met with our doctor today and she said that it is probably due to embryo abnormality that is why it did not implant, as my lining is good at 8mm. So no problem that she see on my lining.

We asked when can we start the next round again, as clock is ticking for me as I am 43 now. She said I can start immediately, I did ask her about the things I read online that the advise waiting/recovery is at least 4 weeks before starting a new round, she said that it differs from person to person.

So I am booked again for a baseline scan on Friday, but i completely forgot that I am going on a business trip next week for 4 days and I cannot cancel that trip anymore. So I emailed her and asked if we can move the baseline scan to Wednesday next week before my flight.

Here we go again!!

StormsPassIVF · 31/10/2023 21:48

@TheFanciestPants all going ok so far. Had my 1st of 2 scans and my lining wasn’t quite where they wanted so upped my estrogen dose. Next scan is Friday then I think FET is the following Thursday

Waiting on bloods to check the neck pain isn’t thyroid related.

So I guess so far so good 🙂

Haha glad the cat brought a smile!

How is post transfer treating you?

StormsPassIVF · 31/10/2023 21:52

@fsr111 how are you getting on, you must be starting meds soon as I remember you weren’t to far behind me on the FET

fsr111 · 01/11/2023 21:18

Hey @StormsPassIVF, thanks for checking in. Started meds today. Doing a natural, modified cycle so no injections for me, it's just three oestrogen tablets a day. Have first scan booked for next Friday. Feeling SO much more relaxed about it all (so far!) than I did last cycle. Hoping that will stand me well.

So sorry to hear your update @Natasha90 - that must have been such a blow after all that toy have been through. Sending you a whole lot of love.

Really pleased things worked out well for you @LavenderJoy, what a worry that must have been. Hope you can start to enjoy it all now:

StormsPassIVF · 01/11/2023 21:52

@fsr111 ahhh brilliant and nice that you are more relaxed this time around.

I’ve just found out I have an under active thyroid so need to take meds for that now. Glad you have found out before transfer so I can start the meds to balance it out.

I don’t think it will delay but just double checking with the doc that we are still ok to continue the FET this month.

Dr Google says it can affect implantation if you don’t have the meds so glad I found out now. Runs in my family but kicked in later for my mum like 50s

fsr111 · 01/11/2023 22:04

Well done for pushing to get it checked, as you say, if it is an issue, better to take the meds for it. Was it just a sore neck that made you suspicious, @StormsPassIVF?

fsr111 · 01/11/2023 22:07

Also, did everyone else's clinic said no tampons, just pads during their period when starting their IVF cycles? I just can't really work out the reason why. I absolutely hate using pads!

StormsPassIVF · 02/11/2023 15:14

@fsr111 the no tampons is a new one - my clinic never mentioned this.

Some disappointing news from me - had my blood test results checking thyroid - they are rerunning them now to be sure they are correct but it looks like my neck pain is linked to under active thyroid.

so…I’ve been prescribed Levothroxine to stabilise it - apparently if your thyroid is out of wack it can stop implantation.

Glad we found it now and didn’t waste 2 precious embryos next week but disappointed as it means my cycle will be cancelled.

Will have to wait 6 weeks to check bloods again, then if stable we go ahead for the FET.

Im surprised my clinic didn’t do bloods to check this stuff at the start but hey ho at least we know now!

West8690 · 02/11/2023 18:31

@fsr111 my clinic say the same - I think it's just to reduce risk of infection, TSS etc.

@StormsPassIVF I'm so sorry it wasn't the news you were hoping for but you're right, at least they looked in to it and found out now rather than wasting a precious embryo ❤️

We had our scan today and saw a heartbeat. DH cried - he admitted he just hadn't let himself think about anything looking forward and I think we both just went in expecting the worst. Consultant was happy and said everything looked good. One hurdle down, now just looking towards the next scan in 2 weeks time xxx

fsr111 · 02/11/2023 18:32

Ah I'm sorry @StormsPassIVF, that must be disappointing but as you say, best to have caught this now and not wasted the embryos. Will you be able to go again this side of Christmas?

StormsPassIVF · 02/11/2023 18:45

@West8690 thank you. Ahh that’s so lovely to hear your scan went well! Hope you can relax a bit now and look forward to the next one in 2 weeks.

@fsr111 thank you, yes would have been a terrible waste.

My main disappointment is my age, this was an unexpected hurdle and I’ve just turned 39. We won’t be able to go ahead until the new year now.

On the upside I can have the odd glass of wine now and get back to regular gym training AND no meds for a bit!!

fsr111 · 02/11/2023 18:51

Lovely news @West8690! That's so great! So sweet about your DH! Are you having many symptoms at all?

JadeAC · 02/11/2023 19:18

That’s great news @West8690! you must be so relieved.

im sorry to hear that @StormsPassIVF but it’s good they’ve caught it as it could be the key to a successful round!

West8690 · 02/11/2023 19:40

@fsr111 oh yes, I've been throwing up daily for a few weeks now and every day is a journey through 'what will I be able to stomach today'. I aimlessly wandered around asda the other day, came home with 3 pasta salads, 2 ready meals, a box of chicken skewers and by the time I got home I couldn't face any of them...my husband is going to end up eating a lot of rejected food!

@StormsPassIVF definite look at the positives - you can enjoy all of the festivities without having to think about rules around what you can and can't eat and drink!

fsr111 · 07/11/2023 06:56

Hey, how's everyone doing?

Got my first scan for the FET on Friday. Finding it strange to be so disconnected from it all compared to all of the scans, blood tests and injections for the fresh cycle!

JadeAC · 07/11/2023 12:53

I’m good thanks. That’s exciting! So is it just lining they look for and do the transfer whe. It looks the right thickness?

StormsPassIVF · 07/11/2023 17:19

@fsr111 good luck for your 1st scan!

Nothing exciting to repot in my side, need the thyroid to stabilise will know by mid December if it has ready for double FET in Jan we hope.

I would 100% recommend everyone to have thyroid checked by GP if not done by the clinic already. I’ve spoken to s few people I know and it seems surprisingly common.

Very important to stabilise for egg quality, implantation and to sustain a pregnancy.

I wish I had known to check before we started this IVF journey as we might have wasted an embryo. But at least we know going forwards 😊

fsr111 · 07/11/2023 19:36

@JadeAC - I think so, was a lot more aware of every step of the process last time and feel a bit like a passenger on this cycle. I think scan on Friday and then probably transfer next Thursday. How are you doing? Have you many symptoms?

@StormsPassIVF so interesting that it's so common. I had my thyroid checked in the early days of all the tests, makes me think I should ask again though if this doesn't work out!

JadeAC · 07/11/2023 20:13

Not many symptoms. Last couple
of days I’ve felt really sick but I have a bad cold so not sure if it’s pregnancy or illness.

Chickencrazy3356 · 07/11/2023 20:31

Hope everybody is doing well I had my FET today and sent my poor husband on a trek around the town to ensure I had my McDonald’s fries !

fsr111 · 07/11/2023 20:41

@Chickencrazy3356 - congratulations on being PUPO! Hope the fries did their job! Will be keeping everything crossed for you these next couple of weeks.

JadeAC · 07/11/2023 23:09

Best of luck @Chickencrazy3356 🤞

LavenderJoy · 08/11/2023 07:12

@Chickencrazy3356 wishing you lots of luck!

Glad to here everyone is progressing in their journeys.

I had another scan yesterday as I have still been spotting for over a week, good news, baby is measuring right on track and a strong heartbeat but they have noticed several bleeds, the biggest being 3cm. They have said it can go either way but they are fairly common, she said positives are there is a heartbeat and that having brown blood is a good sign the bleed happened and hopefully my body will do what it's meant to and get rid of the blood or will absorb it, praying everything works out 🙏

The sickness and nausea has really kicked in for me, but trying my best not to complain about it :/

fsr111 · 08/11/2023 07:42

Oh gosh @LavenderJoy, what an anxious time that must be for you. I'm keeping absolutely everything crossed. Will they scan you again?

LavenderJoy · 08/11/2023 10:04

@fsr111 thank you, no they haven't said they will, just basically keep positive and hope for the best for my 12w scan, I think if I don't get an earlier scan come through I'm going to book a 10w private scan just for peace of mind to see of its still there or shrunk.
It's never straight forward for me x
