@Charming81 yes they said they were pretty sure we are having a girl, they looked and they couldn’t see a winky, so I’m definitely expecting to find out that she’s a girl 🥰

IVFfirsttimer91 · 03/10/2023 15:20

@SH998 yes In my previous scan they said they were pretty sure that she’s a girl!! Ohh I love it when scan time comes around for us all. I love seeing all the good news!!

This thread is nearly full, should we make another everyone?

IVFfirsttimer91 · 03/10/2023 15:21

@SH998 i haven’t bought anything gendered yet, just in case, but my partner came back with these the other day!!

@IVFfirsttimer91 ooohhhhh they are sooooo cute!!! I am too afraid of buying anything yet 🙈 I would like to, but I'm still too scared things might go the wrong way.

Am I the only one still so worried? Did you all relax after the 12 week scan? I thought I would, but I didn't!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 03/10/2023 16:06

@Charming81 Im still a bit worried before each scan. But also at the same time, i kind of had a talk to myself a few weeks ago and said that if it’s all gone wrong, worrying about it isn’t going to change anything. And I’d rather spend this time trying to enjoy the thought of being pregnant and looking forward to having a baby rather than worrying about something I can’t change. And that actually really really helped as silly as it sounds. I’m sorry you’re still so worried though xx

Charming81 · 03/10/2023 16:10

@IVFfirsttimer91 I feel silly because every time someone congratulate us, I can't be happy. I mean, I am happy, over the moon that everything is going well, but I think "it is not time to celebrate yet".

I look for things to buy, but I always stop myself. I am silly, I know! I hope it will all change when I'll start to feel him.

wtawtaw · 03/10/2023 16:32

@IVFfirsttimer91 how cute are they!!! Love that your partner bought them too. I don't think my husband would ever come home having bought clothes for baby on his own, unless it's something ridiculous like a clown costume.

@Charming81 I get you, whilst I'm soooo excited inside, I feel a little bit nervous still too to buy anything. I think mine comes from the whole cervix length thing but as someone else said, there's no point worrying what we can't change. Do you think you'll relax more after the 20 weeks scan?

SH998 · 03/10/2023 16:43

@Charming81 i completely understand why you feel that way, for a long time I did panic but I’ve really mellowed after the 12 week scan. I’m now in agreement with @IVFfirsttimer91 should anything go wrong then there’s nothing any amount of worrying can prevent. I’m trying to enjoy this, I’ve waited long enough and due to my age I think it will be my only child so I want to happily remember the good side of pregnancy. Saying that I do panic before every scan, I’m not sure that will ever get easier.
However, I am still finding it all surreal as I don’t feel pregnant, no real twinges down below.

@IVFfirsttimer91 ohh they are so so cute I love them, god knows what my partner would bring home lol 😂

@ASGIRC i really hope you manage to sort a scan for when you want it. The wait is long enough without waiting any longer than needed.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 03/10/2023 16:45

@Charming81 I don’t think it’s silly at all. We’ve all been through a lot to get to this spot and I think it’s natural for us to be worried maybe more than others who just conceive without help. But as I said earlier I just had to have a talk with myself as the worry and stress was actually really bringing me down. And since I had that talk to myself I actually feel so much better.

@wtawtaw they are so cute right?? He’s always bringing home bits for the baby, little clothes, some books, a jellycat shrimp?😂 some reusable nappies which were brand new in Farrah for £3 each when they sold rrp £13.99 which is a great deal. He’s bought far more for the baby than I have lol.

We both have jellycat Rabbits (George & Horatio) so my next purchase will be buying a matching one for baby with their name embroidered on the ear, probably in yellow.

After 20 weeks we’re getting the pram.

SH998 · 03/10/2023 16:46

Admittedly boys clothes ain’t as cute as girl clothes lol 🩵🩷

IVFfirsttimer91 · 03/10/2023 16:47

@SH998 stoppppp!!!! They are SO cute!! I love the Micky dungarees 🥰❤️🥰

SH998 · 03/10/2023 16:53

@IVFfirsttimer91 my partner said they are a bit naff lol but I love them too 😍

SH998 · 03/10/2023 16:54

@IVFfirsttimer91 i love the bunny 😍

IVFfirsttimer91 · 03/10/2023 17:00

@SH998 i don’t think they are naff at all, I think they are super sweet ❤️. And thanks! We want her to be matching with us 😂😂

Charming81 · 03/10/2023 17:20

@SH998 they are not naff at all! They are super cute. All baby stuff is super cute 🥰

ASGIRC · 03/10/2023 17:44

@IVFfirsttimer91 omg THOSE ARE SUUUPER CUTE!!!!!!!

@SH998 And so are yours! Sure, boys are a bit less exciting, but there are still super cute things!

I have bought exactly zero things. And I dont even feel the urge, if im honest... I think until I know the sex, I wont.

As for worry, yes, every since the 12 weeks scan, even earlier, with my recurring weekly trips to the EPU, Ive relaxed. The danger zone is behind me.

If something happens now, it is what it is. But obviously, the worry before every scan is there. Will they find something untoward? Some malformation that might mean termination?
Im not worried about a loss, only about having to make a decison to terminate.

As for the scan, Im sure I can book one. I just dont want to wait any longer! LOL But it is still a bit early to book it for tomorrow!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 04/10/2023 11:40

@ASGIRC thanks!!!! I thought they were just so sweet as well.

has anyone else decided if they are going to use cloth nappies or just disposable? We’re going to try the cloth ones for at home, but disposables out and about.

ASGIRC · 04/10/2023 11:48

@IVFfirsttimer91 I want to do cloth.
The first couple of weeks will probably be disposables as well, and if I go away for any amount of time.

I think for day trips I will still try cloth.

When I told my family this, you'd think I was telling them I was gonna water board the baby 🙄🙄🙄

IVFfirsttimer91 · 04/10/2023 11:59

I much prefer the idea of cloth, just not sure how practical it would be for me out and about. But it might not be as messy as I anticipate!

wtawtaw · 04/10/2023 12:42

I tried to work this out the other day and it worked out the disposables were much cheaper in the long run, if buying Aldi nappies for examples anyway. However, I only looked at one brand of cloth nappies so they may have been on the upper range. I think for my own sanity and to save the washing machine going constantly, it will be disposable but we'll see

IVFfirsttimer91 · 04/10/2023 13:02

@wtawtaw Yeah some brands are like £13 per nappy which is insane. But I’ve had a look on Amazon and you can get bundles of 12 for £30 ish. So I think we’re going to try them and out see what happens! Our washing machine seems to be constantly on anyway so I’m not too worried about that, it’s more when we go out and about I’m not sure I want to be carrying about a bag of soiled nappies lol

SH998 · 04/10/2023 13:08

@ASGIRC thank you, I'm trying really hard not to buy more lol

I'm with @wtawtaw, I think ill be sticking to disposables too. I'm sure ill struggle keeping on top of the washing/drying living in rainy Wales so not sure I want to add more to that.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 04/10/2023 13:15

@wtawtaw £60 for 6 is shocking!!!! Yeah I wouldn’t be buying those either 😂 that’s crazy money

ASGIRC · 04/10/2023 18:18

@IVFfirsttimer91 Yeah, see what works for you!!

I plan on buying most second hand! This is the kind of thing that people sell on, and they are still absolutely fine (particularly if it was a case of them just not getting on with them), which will also make it cheaper.

I am thinking of having about 40 nappies, and invest around €200 in them. If they work out, for 3 years, that is MUCH cheaper than disposables.

But also, if I dont get on with them, I will sell them on, and just buy disposables. This is just something I want to do.

In terms of washing, I barely do any laundry, literally run the washing machine once a fortnight. So it wont be too much of a hassle if I have to run it every couple of days!
