Scan went great!
Trisomy risk is 1 to 20000, which is amazing!
Baby was measuring big, so theyve adjusted my due date to 3rd of April!!!!
No guesses on whether it is a boy or a girl, though, which was disappointing, but I think the doc likes to play it safe.

@ASGIRC I am glad your scan went well! Amazing news. For the sex they usually don't say it if it is at the hospital. They told me because it was private. Don't you have places in Portugal where you can go to have a scan at about 16 weeks to find out the sex?

@ASGIRC thats fantastic! Congratulations 🎉 only a little while longer now until you can find out if it’s a girl or boy though!! So exciting!!

@Charming81 this was private. But the doctor seemed to be very conservative, and not willing to take a punt, which I respect.

And yes, there are places... but they are all about "emotional ultrasounds", which honestly makes me gag 😂

So I will have to find one without all that song and dance, which isnt easy here!!!
I can also do a blood test. They cost about 100 euros...

@IVFfirsttimer91 I was a bit disappointed he wouldnt even give his opinion... But you have to respect it... I cant even see a nub in the photo, so am clueless!

I am terrible with the nub, I really don't get it. You can ppst the photo if you want though, maybe someone more expert could give you a guess

@Walker12 yes, Ive read about that as well, but nope... Cant make it out! Its gonna be either a boy or a girl😂

Who knows already about the sex apart from me? I remember a girl, but I don't remember who is having it.

@Charming81 its me with the girl!! Well, we are 95% sure she’s a girl. The last two scans the sonographers said they were as sure as they could be that she was a she. We find out next Friday for sure though!

I’m really hoping for a little girl now as that’s what she is in my mind 😂. Also I am very outnumbered by winkies in this house, all our animals are male so will be nice to even up the numbers ever so slightly!

Thanks for all the support and advice, I gave myself a long talking too and realised I alone was making what should have been an enjoyable, special day an utter nightmare. I was behaving as if I had been given the worse news ever when in fact it was the best news, baby was fit and healthy from what they could see and that's all that should have mattered. I've waited 7 years for that scan and I spoilt it for myself!

I'm more calmer and a lot happier now after speaking to several friends and family. Hoping to enjoy the next few months of pregnancy and we will be finding out the sex in 2/3 weeks which I really cant wait for :)

I had a slight preference for a girl. It's a boy and I am now over the moon. I am waiting to have confirmation with the NIPT test, and I really hope now it will confirm it's a boy or I will be "disappointed" 🤣 we have chosen the name, I already think about what to buy, what to do ❤️

@SH998 Im glad you are feeling better! A healthy baby is what is needed!

I have a not so slight preference for a girl 😂But have been trying to prepare for it being a boy, and making peace with it, if that is the case!

My mom has just asked me for permission to tell her friends! 😂Shes been avoiding them, as I have been avoiding my friends! I told her she could.

@ASGIRC thats so cute of your mum!!! I’m really happy she is excited!

@IVFfirsttimer91 I swear shes more excited than I am! LOL
She already told her 2 best friends. But now she wants to tell the other close friends (who Ive also known all my life)
And yes, it is very cute.
Shes calling the baby her easter bunny 😂

I have to email work the hospital attendance letter from Sunday (as I was late to work). They will then know, as while the whole letter is pretty non descript, the stamp says Maternity (as my EPU is in a maternity only facility, which is part of a larger trust). So that will be a dead giveaway...

But I think I will just do it, with no commentary, and see what happens. I dont have the doctors note to give them yet, that says Im pregnant. And will only get it at my 19 week appointment

@ASGIRC i hope that your work takes it well. If it’s any comfort, both of my workplaces have been really lovely about my pregnancy and I think as standard most places are now :) I’m sure it will all go fine!

@IVFfirsttimer91 Im sure they will be fine... But Ive only been there 4 months... Still in the probation period as well... (of 6 months). I doubt they will fire me (because Im pregnant, they would have to justify it with a regulating authority, and theres literally zero reason, as I do my job well), but its just... uncomfortable!

@ASGIRC i can totally understand that it’s uncomfortable as you’re in your probationary period. I had a similar thing when I had to tell one of my works about it a few days after my probation ended as I had bleeding and had to miss work for a scan the next day. But they were super lovely about it and I hope the same will happen for you x

@IVFfirsttimer91 There are other colleagues on parental leave, so Im sure it is absolutely fine!
Its just nervewracking.
But its fine. Needs to be done!

@ASGIRC yep! And once it’s done, you don’t have to worry about it anymore :)

@ASGIRC I am sure they won't complain and, as you said, they can't fire you, so don't worry ❤️ Do it as soon as possible so that you won't have to think about it anymore

So, today I have a completely irrational fear. Yesterday my husband cooked some liver for our dog. The smell was unbearable for me and I sprayed some spray deodorant. It was a bit overwhelming for about 20 minutes and now I am afraid I have poisoned my baby 😭😭😭 I know you must think I am the silliest crazy woman 😭😭😭

@Charming81 you havent poisoned your baby with deodorant!

That is not possible! Your baby is fine!
