I'll let you know next week if I get to see the baby 😅 I'm also gonna ask if I do see baby if they can tell me the gender, might be pushing that though 😂

IVFfirsttimer91 · 02/10/2023 15:27

@wtawtaw yes!!! Two birds with one stone!!! Do you have any inkling as to what you are having?

wtawtaw · 02/10/2023 15:29

We're pretty sure it's a boy! We mainly think that because of the grade embryo we had (5aa),l and the higher stats of boys that come with that. We've called it a he all along so I'll be apologising to bump if it's a girl 🙊 would be super happy either way though!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 02/10/2023 15:34

@wtawtaw so exciting!!! I’ve been mentally apologising to bean for calling her ‘her’ if she does in fact turn out to be a him 😂. It’s funny what the brain does isn’t it

wtawtaw · 02/10/2023 16:00

@IVFfirsttimer91 🤣 as if they can hear us 🙄

Talking of bumps....is anyone showing yet? I actually think mine has gone down 🤯 I'm wondering if it's because I was so bloated in first tri whether the bloated has just subsided!!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 02/10/2023 18:17

@wtawtaw i definitely have some bump going on!
It’s hard so not tummy fat! A bit mental 🥹. And Ive had to go up to size 10 trousers! Which are also feeling a bit snug now 😂

What about you?

Oh what a lovely bump @IVFfirsttimer91 mine is very similar to yours even though I am not as slim as you. I am a size 8-10 and I only have a couple of jeans that still fit but I find them uncomfortable and I always end up keeping them unbuttoned. I think I really need to start buying some new clothes. I have decided I'll wait for my next scan in 2 weeks and if baby is still there 😅 I'll go for some shopping.

@ASGIRC go fo a scan! One more chance to see the baby.

You talk about embryo grading and sex of the baby. My embryo was a very, very poor quality 6 day blastocyst grade 1cb. On day 6 it was barely an early blasto! The worst we have ever had in 7 transfers. Unbelievable. The one that stuck, was the "worst". That is why I still don't believe it and I expect some bad news at some point. And it's a boy

IVFfirsttimer91 · 02/10/2023 20:03

@Charming81 thanks 🥰🥰🥰 it’s so exciting to see it grow!! I stopped bothering with my jeans a while ago and bought some leggings which I’m wearing at the moment 😂😂 much comfier! That’s amazing that he stuck though, even though the grade was poor. He’s obviously meant to be part of your family ❤️

wtawtaw · 02/10/2023 21:03

@IVFfirsttimer91 what a lovely bump!! Mine is weird because one day I look pregnancy and the next I just look a little bit bloated, I look less pregnant now than when I did a few weeks ago, hoping baby is still in there!!

@Charming81 wow your little one is a complete fighter then 💪🏻 he obviously likes it in the womb more than the lab!

Charming81 · 02/10/2023 21:48

@wtawtaw @IVFfirsttimer91 I really hope that he will keep fighting until he will be here with us 🤞🏻🐞🍀 I can't wait for the next scan

ASGIRC · 02/10/2023 22:30

@IVFfirsttimer91 amazing bump!!!

Sometimes, on normal scans, they can see the cervix as well!
Also, have you been going for scans with a full bladder?? Ive had maybe 5 abdominal scans, and theyve all been with a (mostly) empty bladder! It has made no difference whatsoever!!

@wtawtaw I have zero bump. My clothes all still fit. And Im talking jeans here!
Yesterday I even wore a pair of structured linen trousers I hadnt been able to get into since way before covid (I am at my slimmest in about 7 or 8 years!) and they were absolutely fine!
If this continues, I dont think I will buy any clothes, just some waist extenders!
14 weeks is literally around the corner, and no hint of pregnancy in my outside body!

I am currently waiting for a reply from an ultrasound place, as I do have a prescription for a doppler scan (the scans that check for blood supply, not the heartbeat thing that midwives use!), and if I can get that done, they can probably also check the sex!!!!! And it would save the whole "emotional ultrasound" ordeal! LOL

Walker12 · 03/10/2023 06:14

Love the bump updates!! My bump feels HUGE to the point a few people on holiday have asked me when the baby is due then seem really shocked when I say April 😂 It definitely grows as the day goes on though so I am convinced it's mostly bloat. I've definitely put on weight too and my boobs are humongous! But all worth it. I've not worn jeans since the start of IVF, very jealous you can still wear what you want @ASGIRC
I don't really want to tell my colleagues just yet but its going to be very tricky now as I am running out of loose floaty blouses to hide under and have a few in person things coming up! Has everyone shared the news widely now?

Charming81 · 03/10/2023 07:46

@Walker12 I have not shared the news widely, but I work entirely from home so it is easy. Some of my students know, but I will wait the 20 weeks at least to tell the rest. Also all my relatives (apart from close family) don't know anything yet. I will wait for them as well. Maybe until next scan.

Every time I lay down I try to concentrate to see if I can feel the baby. I can't wait as I hope it will relax me a bit! I mean, from head till toes he should be about 10 cm! How is it possible that we don't feel anything?!

wtawtaw · 03/10/2023 11:19

@Walker12 I've just recently told close friends, close family and my small team at work. Haven't put it on social media or anything like that as I'm not that keen on doing so. However, I still felt nervous telling the people I did just incase something was to happen but I wasn't keen on faking how I felt and making excuses up for things 😅

ASGIRC · 03/10/2023 12:17

@Walker12 Im telling everyone and anyone! 14 weeks tomorrow, so it feels right. No more making excuses for not drinking!
But not at work, not yet.
HR did not comment on my justification, so they might not have clocked it, so its as if they dont know.

I will be announcing on social media, as I have friends far and wide, and honestly, texting everyone individually is a bit of a chore! But I wont do it until work knows, as I have a millionty one people from work on FB (even though Ive only been there for 4 months, I did use to work there 15 years ago, before moving to London, and most of them HAVE NOT LEFT!!! LOL)

However, since I am not showing at all, I can hide it well, and Im hoping I can continue hiding until at least my next midwife appointment, which is when Ill get the official paperwork to send to work.
That is 6 weeks away, when Ill be 20 weeks... Wish me luck! LOL

Charming81 · 03/10/2023 13:16

@ASGIRC how can you be 14 weeks tomorrow? We have exactly the same date and I'll be 14 weeks on Friday. 🤔

ASGIRC · 03/10/2023 13:40

@Charming81 date change on the 12 week scan. They added 2 days. So now my official EDD is the 3rd of April!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 03/10/2023 13:46

@Walker12 i’ve told everyone now as well!! Only 3 days to go before gender scan. VERY EXCITED!!!

wtawtaw · 03/10/2023 14:33

Eeeek I'm excited for you @IVFfirsttimer91! 💕

Charming81 · 03/10/2023 14:37

@ASGIRC oh ok. They don't change the due date with ivf here, regardless of the size of the baby because they know exactly when it was fertilized. At my 12 week scan my baby measured 4 days ahead, but the left 5th April as due date.

@IVFfirsttimer91 I am excited for you!!! 😍😍😍 Have you got a preference?

ASGIRC · 03/10/2023 14:42

@Charming81 I thought because it was IVF that they wouldnt change either, but the doctor didnt care (and he obviously knew, since I gave him the egg donor details as well!).
In effect, it makes very little difference, because due dates are basically meaningless.
Have you got your Harmony results yet?

@IVFfirsttimer91 How exciting!!!!!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 03/10/2023 14:43

Thanks guys!!!!

Im expecting it to be a girl, but honestly I’d be just as happy with a boy. I just want to know for sure now! The wait to get to this point as you guys all know is just SO LONG.

Charming81 · 03/10/2023 15:04

@ASGIRC yes, I got them and all is good 🎉

@IVFfirsttimer91 why do you expect it to be a girl? Did they tell you already they think it is a girl at your 12 week scan?

SH998 · 03/10/2023 15:09

@ASGIRC @Charming81 same here, mine was measuring 3 days ahead so a new EDD was given. The were aware of the transfer date but said their dates are of the size of the baby. I thought it was strange too but we have to listen to the professionals I suppose lol.

@IVFfirsttimer91 how exciting, will you be 16 weeks then? Have you been told previously its likely to be a girl?

My 16 week gender scan is booked for a week Saturday, ill be 16 weeks 3 days so hoping they will see a little something (I'm expecting to see a willy lol). I'm that convinced I've brought a few blue things, my partner thinks I'm nuts but my brothers due a little boy 8 weeks before mine so should it be a girl I can pass them to him :)

ASGIRC · 03/10/2023 15:17

@SH998 yeap, thats it! Trust the pros, I guess. It makes no difference, really!

I am trying to book a 16 week scan now! Asked a place about the doppler scan, but it needs to be part of a regular scna, so hoping I can book that with them and use my NHS scan prescription and not have to pay anything for them!
I was hoping to book it for the 18th, I will be 15+6 then, and Im sure that will be clear enough, but no idea if they have opening then!
