FET May 2023

Hi! I am scheduled for a FET in May and wondered if anybody might want to join who is in a similar position.

I had ICSI in 2020. A fresh transfer resulted in DD being born in 2021. We are doing a FET from an embryo we had of that round of ICSI.

Hey!
I Did my first round of ICSI last month, ended in a freeze all due to me over reacting. I’m monitoring my ovulation this month and all being well if I have a normal cycle this month I’ll be doing a FET in around 5 weeks time 🤞🏼
Are you doing natural or controlled?

duckling3 · 27/03/2023 15:39

Hi, I'm hoping to do an FET in may. Got the first appointment with the nurse scheduled for mid April, then it should be a case of wait for first day of cycle to get started.

We did ivf in 2020 which gave us ds, but have had two failed FET since then so I'm a little nervous going into it again. Fingers crossed for a better outcome this time.

How are you feeling about it?

HopefulHead · 27/03/2023 15:52

@duckling3 have you previously done natural or controlled cycle FETs?

Purtyburty · 27/03/2023 16:16

@HopefulHead I am doing a controlled cycle I think? I know I will be starts medication on the first day of my cycle which will be pessaries and some injections.

@duckling3 congratulations on DS. Sorry to hear about the failed FETs. Let's hope we both have luck in May. I feel nervous and excited. I don't have two high hopes mainly because of the grading of the embryo.

Previously done medicated FETs. Don't really know too much about natural cycle FeT .. that's not something my clinic has spoken much about.

What are you doing?

HopefulHead · 27/03/2023 21:02

Ahh ok, I know most clinics (including mine) push for medicated FETs, I’m just not keen on taking meds again any time soon 😬

KLM25 · 28/03/2023 09:10

Hi, I’m thinking of having another FET in May. I’ve just found out this weekend from an HPT that my latest one hasn’t worked. I had the blood test yesterday so I’m just waiting to send that confirmation to my clinic (it’s abroad).
We also have a DS who was born in May 2021 ❤️ He was the result of our very first transfer. Sadly since then, I’ve had an early loss and then 3 BFNs. We’re extremely grateful for him of course but would love to be able to give him a sibling so we keep ploughing on!

Purtyburty · 28/03/2023 09:13

@KLM25 welcome! I am similar in that O have a DD from our very first transfer and wanting to expand our family. We only have one frozen embryo and using it for a May transfer.

@Purtyburty Thank you 😊 It’s lovely to talk to someone in a similar position.
I’ve actually just had the email with the results from ystdy and it’s confirmed the BFN so I’ll just wait and see what the clinic say now. I’ve done two FETs back to back and they want me to wait this time. They’ve mentioned using a Decapeptyl Depot injection which will be a first for me, if we go ahead.

Jazsimone · 28/03/2023 11:13

Hi all,
So I have literally just had a failed FET and looking at going straight into another. (We have our follow up consultation tomorrow). Our DS was born sept 2019 from our first round of reciprocal IVF. (Very lucky it would seem.)

Just looking for support for the next round.... I sent myself crazy this time, testing daily and getting BFN.

I have only ever had medicated transfers, I know I have low progesterone levels.

HopefulHead · 28/03/2023 11:46

Hi @KLM25 & @Jazsimone aoery to hear you both had unsuccessful FETs last month, fingers crossed you both have success this month 🤞🏼
Its nice there is so many on here doing them at the same time 🥰❤️

Jazsimone · 28/03/2023 11:57

@HopefulHead I had my blood test yesterday. It was heart breaking to hear that it was less than 1 (I did have to laugh thought as there is only one number that is less than 1 and that's 0). We were taking lots of test that kept coming up with faint lines. I have swore to myself that I will never do that again, its far too stressful.

Just waiting to see when we can start again, I have already started AF so I think this cycle is out so possibly next month.

HopefulHead · 28/03/2023 12:09

@Jazsimone I can only imagine how heartbreaking it was 😞
This will be our first transfer and I’m determined not to test early as I’ve seen so many threads of people getting early positives and then it being negative and I imagine that would be even worse if you’re given false hope.

Jazsimone · 28/03/2023 13:05

@HopefulHead

Just stick to your test date, and stay as relaxed as possible. To be fair our FET cycle was ridiculously stressful throughout so I'm not surprised it didn't implant.
But We can only work on it and see what happens next time.

HopefulHead · 28/03/2023 13:07

@Jazsimone Did you manage to get a few Frosties from your cycle then?
Ill definitely try my best to not test early, I imagine it’s bloody difficult though!!

KLM25 · 28/03/2023 13:20

@HopefulHead Thank you ❤️ That’s very exciting that it’s your first transfer. Wishing you all the luck in the world. Our first transfer resulted in our son so I hope things go similarly for you!
@Jazsimone I’m sorry to hear about your BFN, I had my blood test yesterday too - it’s still a kick in the teeth even when you know it’s going to be negative from the HPTs.

I would definitely agree with the advice to not test early. I waited until 10dp5dt this time round so I was pretty certain it was a definitive negative. With my last FET I tested from 7dp and all that happened was that I kept thinking oh maybe it’s too early and maybe the negatives will turn into a positive 🤦‍♀️ So I tortured myself for a few days whereas I think for me it’s easier to just wait and not have to see more than one negative test!

Jazsimone · 28/03/2023 13:30

@KLM25 Its horrible, I had to travel from oxford to london for the blood test which was just added pressure. I wasn't even going to go but I had booked my train ticket. Just used the time to reflect. I got them to call my wife with the hcg results.
I am just trying to have a much better outlook, I have cried too much already.

HopefulHead · 28/03/2023 13:31

@KLM25 🤞🏼I’m monitoring my ovulation this month to make sure my body is back to normal as I only had EC a couple weeks ago but all being well I’ll be able to implant when I ovulate next month.
I will definitely try and hold off testing early when it comes to it 😬
Have they indicated how long they want you to wait before your next transfer?

KLM25 · 28/03/2023 13:58

@Jazsimone I’m sorry, I really do sympathise. I travel from Nottingham to Birmingham as it’s the nearest private clinic I can find where you get the blood test results the next day (my IVF clinic is abroad). They’re great but having to pay £80 for the pleasure when you already know it’s a negative result is another not fun part of this whole process! I hope you feel a bit brighter soon. I’m trying to feel better by planning our next steps, but I’ve had plenty of dark moments since Sat when I feel like this is never going to work again 🥴

@HopefulHead I’ve got everything crossed for you. I’ve had two transfers back to back if that makes sense. They don’t want me to start again with my next bleed which I’m expecting to start in a few days as I’ve stopped the progesterone today. I’ve been told I’ll hear from my consultant tomorrow when she’s at the clinic regarding a new protocol and they’ve mentioned Decapeptyl, not sure when you have to take that, or how long after that you can start x

Jazsimone · 28/03/2023 14:04

@HopefulHead Yeah, we have 7 left, so unsure how many to implant... we were previously told that we were 'too healthy' to implant 2 as we would end up with 2 babies.
Clearly not the case anymore.

Jazsimone · 28/03/2023 14:06

@KLM25

I'm glad I have found this thread, its okay to be negative sometimes but you have to move forward. I honestly was going to throw the towel in and never do it again on Saturday but I know that's not what I want.

HopefulHead · 28/03/2023 14:08

@KLM25 Yeah I understand, I can see why you’d want to do them back to back too, after our fresh transfer was cancelled I was gutted we couldn’t then transfer this month as they said I needed to wait a full cycle, just feels like wasting time doesn’t it 😬
Hopefully if they’re trying something new for you it will give you a better chance of it working next time 🤞🏼🤞🏼

@Jazsimone That's good that you have a good amount of Frosties left, will they not consider you implanting 2 now you’ve had failed ones?

Jazsimone · 28/03/2023 14:38

@HopefulHead I'm unsure to be honest, the embryo they transferred was the best quality. So its hard to tell what has happened.
We have question time with our consultant tomorrow so I will ask then.

HopefulHead · 28/03/2023 14:42

@Jazsimone Hopefully you’ll get some answers tomorrow then and make a plan for the next one 🤞🏼

KLM25 · 29/03/2023 13:41

@Jazsimone Yes I think it really helps to talk to people in the same position. I felt exactly the same on Saturday, plus my fiancé was more upset and disappointed than I’ve seen him up until now. But as the days have gone by, I’ve definitely started to feel more positive - I think making a plan has helped with that.
@HopefulHead Thank you, yes I hope so. You’re right, the waiting around is one of the worst parts of all this! Making it to transfer feels like a real achievement x
