HJen22 · 09/11/2022 13:18

Hi ladies

Just wondering if anyone is doing a cycle in November, looking for some cycle buddies.

I started stims yesterday, this is the 3rd cycle for us (2 NHS rounds where we didn't make it to transfer either time) and now we have signed up to a private a 3 cycle package with Create in Manchester. 3 egg collections and hopefully some embryo banking before and potential transfer. X

Hi! I am just starting a FET cycle this month. Starting on the oestrogen tomorrow. I am with ABC (create).
I hope you have better luck with Create, my experience is they are a really kind clinic.

HJen22 · 09/11/2022 14:09

@FlapJackered hi 👋🏻 all the very best with your FET too! Is this your first? Glad to hear you have good things to say about Create, where is your clinic? We're actually up in Scotland but wanted to to somewhere which has more options and I have low egg reserve. We drive down tomorrow and stay until egg collection x

Hi, can I join too?
I am due to start my very first IVF cycle on the weekend. Had our baseline scan on Monday and been given the go ahead.
feeling sad it has come to this but also hopeful! Everyone everyone I know is currently pregnant or on maternity leave and made conceiving look easy I don’t understand why I can’t join. :(

HJen22 · 09/11/2022 14:30

@Foreverhoping33 hello and of course, welcome x that's great you've the go ahead for starting your first cycle. I hope you've not had too long to get to the top of the list. I know, it's hard when you feel left behind, I feel the same. It's just not that easy sadly for a lot of us. Wishing you all the best and any questions you have feel free to ask and I can try and help x

@HJen22 it's my second FET this time around, my first was cancelled due to a cyst and thin lining. I am very lucky to have a son from ivf in 2020 after 2 years of ttc.
We are based in Bristol and used ABC last time and honestly couldn't fault them. It was like being part of a family there.
That is very exciting you'll be there tomorrow! How are you feeling about it all?

@Foreverhoping33 hi! I am sorry, it's such a rough journey isn't it. It's hard to have got to the ivf stage but there is something about it that can feel more productive and positive than the endless ttc cycles. Best of luck!

HJen22 · 09/11/2022 14:48

@FlapJackered oh how lovely you have had ivf success with your little boy! Will this be an embryo from the same round as he came from? Sorry to hear the first was cancelled, there can be lots of bumps in the road when it comes to cycles can't there. I'm trying to not let the fear take over; but really I think it gets scarier the further in I get. Our first cycle our one embryo didn't make it to transfer and our second cycle we got 0 eggs which was absolutely devastating. No idea what happened as I went to collection with 3 good sized follicles. This time we're doing milf ivf with a lower dose of stims, really hoping for better results.

Foreverhoping33 · 09/11/2022 15:09

sorry reread my message and did not mean for it to sound so negative! I am excited to start ivf and yes @FlapJackered it’s better than the endless ttc.
I am in London and doing first cycle on the nhs through kings fertility. So far I only have positive things to say about them.
exciting you are going to Manchester @HJen22 tomorrow. Will you be off work for the 2 weeks or work remotely? Sorry to hear that you got no eggs last time. I will keep my fingers crossed you get a better response this time!!

HJen22 · 09/11/2022 15:14

@FlapJackered Don't ever apologise, it's a tough time and I totally understand how you are feeling. I was numb when we found out it was ivf for us. It's a hard pill to swallow that's for sure. Glad to hear you've so far had a good experience with your clinic too.

The last two rounds I worked throughout, but I have holidays left and there will likely be more scans and monitoring this time so I just decided to take the time off. Try and chill between appointments. We've a nice Airbnb booked and taking the dog (my fiancé will be working whilst we are there remotely) so I'll hopefully take her nice long walks.

Thank you! It was a huge shock, but hopefully going for quality over quantity with different medication this time will give better results. I cannot fault our patient coordinator or nurses I've seen so far so I'm hoping the change of scenery and new clinic will be a positive experience.

HSingh15 · 09/11/2022 16:56

Hey there!

hopefulivfer · 09/11/2022 18:13

Hi
Can I join this thread too?
I started stims on Friday last week. Also on 3 cycle package with Create in Manchester.

HJen22 · 09/11/2022 18:19

@HSingh15 all the best for your first cycle. How are you getting on with stims?

@hopefulivfer nice to speak to someone else at the same clinic! Is this your first cycle? How are you getting on? We have our first scan booked for Friday x

hopefulivfer · 09/11/2022 18:26

HI @HJen22

This is the first time with this clinic. Had 2 previous cycles at another clinic with only 1 transfer and it failed unfortunately.

On low dose Bemfola 150 units started last Friday. Started cetrotide yesterday. Felt a bit tired at the beginning tbh but I’m ok now apart from feeling slightly bloated. I have another scan tomorrow and on Saturday. My consultant thinks I will be having a retrieval early next week. Fingers crossed for all of us.

HJen22 · 09/11/2022 18:30

@hopefulivfer sounds very similar to us! 2 cycles at a clinic up here in Scotland although we didn't get to transfer. Im so sorry to hear of your unsuccessful transfer.

Same dose Bemfola for me! Last night was my first injection. Glad you're feeling ok! I find it emotionally more draining than physically. Fingers crossed for retrieval next week! How have you found the clinic so far? We're staying close to it in wilmslow and it seems like a cute little place

Hi!
thank you so much!
I am in so much discomfort and pain - I had to take time off work (I work for NHS and let’s say they didn’t really like me taking time off!)

apart from that I’m okay, I’m more nervous then excited x

hopefulivfer · 09/11/2022 18:57

Hi @HJen22

Found the clinic to be ok so far. It’s expensive as you know. The only problem is having to contact the hotline and not being able to speak to the clinic directly. That’s an admin issue.

From a clinical perspective, there is more scanning and bloods taken, so I’m fairly happy that I’m being monitored closely.

I don’t live far from the clinic. It was one of the reasons I chose it tbh… There are nice places to eat round Wilmslow/Handforth area if you don’t fancy venturing into Manchester.

I’m also 43 with a low AMH 11.5. Create seem to be one of the few clinics that focus on old ladies like me.

I Hope all goes well with your treatment. Keep me posted on how you get along.

@HSingh15
sorry to hear you’re struggling with pain. Hopefully it means the drugs are doing something positive and you get those good eggs that we all crave!

Hey,

thank you so much! I’m so nervous! I keep on looking at my calendar and marking days - I pray each and everyone one of us ladies get to the destination we want

if you ladies could help me out, what can I do or any advice and tips to make it a successful ivf treatment?

thank you

ohsohopeful · 09/11/2022 19:31

Hi everyone, hoping it's ok for me to join too, would be great to have some cycle buddies. I'm on my second day of menopur, it's our first cycle. Feeling a little overwhelmed with it all so currently just trying to get from jab to jab and not worry too much in between! Wishing you all lots of luck with your cycles 😊

HJen22 · 09/11/2022 20:04

@hopefulivfer yeah it's not cheap is it. My clinic up here wouldn't do another round with own eggs so really want to try again with a more specialist clinic. Yeah I like the idea of being monitored more closely and from earlier on as well.

We had a little wander around when we came down for the day for bloods and I really liked the town, and I'm glad we're not far away for the appointments.

It is a bit weird that you have to call the main line isn't it. When I've needed to speak to my patient coordinator though I've managed to call her directly.

Thank you so much, I hope all goes well with yours too! Do you think you'll get two cycles in before the end of the year?

@HSingh15 sorry you're in so much pain! But hopefully it does mean lots of growing follicles! It's a shame your work aren't very understanding!

@ohsohopeful I'm on day 2 of meds too! It can get so overwhelming can't it! Take each day as it comes and be kind to yourself ❤️ wishing you all the luck!

Thank you @HJen22, lots of luck with yours too 💕 I hope you're finding things ok staying away from home.

It doesn't help that I'm absolutely terrified of needles and anything medical, feel like I'm living my worst nightmare right now! Grateful that we're in a position to be able to fund our treatment (we have an 8 year old ds but dh since diagnosed with MFI) but mostly in disbelief that it's happening. It's like the most extreme kind of exposure therapy!

Sending lots of positive thoughts everyone's way.

hopefulivfer · 09/11/2022 20:26

@HSingh15 try not to stress- even if it means taking extended sick leave from work- that’s what you should do! Your eggs will thank you for it.

Try to drink loads of water, get good sleep, a Mediterranean diet is supposed to be helpful. I’m taking ubiquinol as it’s supposed to help with egg quality along with standard prenatals, high strength B vitamins and omega 3 tablets.

Good luck.

@HJen22 my cycles are 28-30 days so it’s unlikely that I will get all 3 cycles in by the end of the year. I’ve been taking DHEA and it’s lengthened my cycles by 2-4 days. Not advised by the clinic but when I discussed this with my consultant she said if I really wanted to take it to stick to one tablet a day (25mg).

HJen22 · 09/11/2022 21:08

@ohsohopeful thank you, we leave tomorrow and will be down until egg collection. I'm hoping the days off and change of scenery will be a good thing. It's quite strange thinking we're away to be away from home for a while for it though! Oh no a needle phobia must be so so difficult! Is your husband doing them? I get my fiancé to do them, I'm finding the bemfola a bit sore in that it's like a pen and I feel like he really has to push to get the meds in.

@HSingh15 I agree with @hopefulivfer take as many days off as you need! I ended up taking a week self certified when our second cycle wasn't going to plan and ended up being signed off a couple weeks after it as I really needed the time away from work to just look after myself. My work were very understanding though which I know was lucky and isn't always the case for everyone.

@hopefulivfer my cycles are short too, 26/27 days so November cycle and then maybe January but it is likely to start end of December. So who knows, cycles can be unpredictable! I took lots and lots of expensive supplements last two cycles but since have just been taking vitamin D and folic acid.

Thank you so much! I hope so too, I’m 26 and my AMH levels are 11 something, it’s unexplained infertility so I hope all the pain is worth it x

thank you! I do, and every single time I do I need to provide paper work! I’m hoping to talk to my GP tomorrow and get a two week signed off note

yess! I’ve increased my water intake to 3 litres a day now and just loads of salad - I have gone gluten free so hopefully that should be good plus I need to maintain my weight as well - ah the stress! But it will be worth it all xx
