IVF cycle November 2022

Hi ladies

Just wondering if anyone is doing a cycle in November, looking for some cycle buddies.

I started stims yesterday, this is the 3rd cycle for us (2 NHS rounds where we didn't make it to transfer either time) and now we have signed up to a private a 3 cycle package with Create in Manchester. 3 egg collections and hopefully some embryo banking before and potential transfer. X

@Crystal88
That sounds really similar to me last week, mine were 10-14mm last Wednesday. They slowed down my meds over the weekend and I had my retrieval on Monday. Wishing you all the luck.

HJen22 · 16/11/2022 10:48

@hopefulivfer yes for sure, I definitely feel in safe hands! My mind is like ok come on I want to get to collection but then I'm also like no I want the other 2 to be the right size to at least have a chance at getting 4. At least I don't have the stress of having to have 3 at 17mm like in the past. I'm trying to remember quality over quantity. Thank you for your kind words, I definitely feel better having you ladies to talk to too ❤️ it's hard for others to understand exactly how it is going through this. Lots of ups and downs.

I hope AF does arrive before then and you can go next cycle! What scans and bloods are involved, is it when AF arrives? Xx

@hopefulivfer thanks for sharing, good to know for me should this round not work out, My brain is in overdrive thinking 10 steps ahead!
im not scanned until day 10!if stims which will be Friday I’m feeling rather uncomfortable and a wee bit sore when I walk, hopefully signs of some decent growth!

countrypunk · 16/11/2022 13:27

Afternoon all and welcome @Megan1591 🙂 Sorry to hear you're still sore after your EC. My clinic told me to call if I'm in a lot of pain and paracetamol doesn't resolve it - maybe worth ringing?

I had my egg collection this morning. I was pretty nervous beforehand but the nurses were all absolutely wonderful. I stayed awake during the whole procedure and remember telling them I loved them! Just to reassure anyone who's yet to have retrieval: you'll probably fall asleep but if you don't you'll be high as a kite and won't give a monkeys about what they're doing down there. I was chatting absolute nonsense.

They collected 10 eggs, 8 mature, and now I just have to wait and find out how many fertilise. Think it's gonna be a long 2 days.

@hopefulivfer Wonderful news that all your eggs fertilised ☺️

CNizzle · 16/11/2022 13:27

@hopefulivfer 7 out of 7 is fab! Are you having a fresh transfer?
@HJen22 I felt a bit like that in the lead up to egg collection, then was disappointed with 2 mature eggs... But ultimately as you say it's quality not quantity.
Good luck to everyone this week with your scans, and triggers.

I'm just waiting it out here... I got a gp line for this week & next so I don't need to worry about work, I've got quite a manual job (NHS) so don't want to be left in any awkward positions. Symptom -spotting like a crazy, or lack of symptoms more like! I would ordinarily have started my period today, so at least I know the progesterone is doing something.
Done some of my Christmas shopping at least 😂

HJen22 · 16/11/2022 13:31

@countrypunk that's great news! Glad to hear it all went well and 8 is a great number of eggs! Hope you have a restful afternoon and everything crossed for good news on fertilisation 🤞🏻

Sorry to any of you haven't been through collection before and if I caused any alarm, as @countrypunk said I'm sure all will be fine, and the majority of people don't remember a thing or feel anything!

OP posts:
CNizzle · 16/11/2022 13:35

@countrypunk omg awake! Jeezo I think I'd have freaked out! I'm so glad I zonked straight out & have zero memory!!

HJen22 · 16/11/2022 13:36

@CNizzle I know, don't get me wrong I would be so so happy with 2 eggs that lead to 2 blasts. Especially given last time I had none. I really do need to remember quality over quantity. It's hard isn't it though when there are others there but just not quite there. But ultimately the clinic know what they are doing and will take the next steps depending on my hormone levels.

Glad to hear you've time off work! It definitely helps when going through this. And a good idea when you have a manual job! I hope you are managing the tww as well as you can! X

countrypunk · 16/11/2022 13:38

Thank you @HJen22, it's another hurdle crossed off the list! I hope your retrieval is a much more pleasant experience this time, it's awful that you were in pain. My only complaint is that the sedation wore off too quickly - I was enjoying it 😆

countrypunk · 16/11/2022 13:40

@CNizzle I know, I was so worried before that I'd be awake, but actually it was fine! I think I just wanted to chat. I remember one particularly lovely nurse stroking my forehead lots!

Manc80 · 16/11/2022 13:50

I’ve been awake for both of mine but high as a kite on fentanyl and some kind of diazepam type drug. Been aware of what’s going on at the time but it’s hazy afterwards.

@CNizzle I’m also symptom spotting like mad. When are you going to test?

Good luck with all the injections/scans/upcoming EC’s and fertilisation/day 5 calls this week!

Big love to everyone with this unparalleled rollercoaster of a waiting game, truly no one gets this unless they’ve done it ❤️

HJen22 · 16/11/2022 14:53

Had the nurses call and that's us booked in for collection on Friday 😱 last jab to prevent ovulation at 5pm and then double trigger at half 8. At least now the decision is made!

@Manc80 how are you? I hope the tww isn't going too slowly for you! X

OP posts:
Manc80 · 16/11/2022 15:03

@HJen22 how exciting! Hope you’re feeling ok about it?

I’m fine thanks, went in the office on Monday but not since then as being up and about on my feet from 6.30am - 6.30pm did not bode well for the success of the progesterone pessaries staying in place (sorry tmi) so not worth the risk. Working from home with my feet up since then and until official test day next Tuesday!

HSingh15 · 16/11/2022 16:08

Hi everyone,

hope everyone’s cycles are going good x

I had day 8 scan and they upped my dose of menopaur and then I went for my day 10 scan today and now they found a polyp on the embryo - which they advised me they had cleared out during my hycosy and hyterscopy earlier this year in Feb

now I have to continue taking my Menopur till Friday and they will do another scan - my follicles are developing okay-ish and the plan is they will give me the trigger shot on Saturday and then egg removal on Monday 21st November

then, then they will freeze the embryos till my polyps are removed - which can take up to three months - we are looking into March for my embryo transfer - I am honestly so upset x

HJen22 · 16/11/2022 16:21

@Manc80 I'm glad to have a plan and not have this linger on. I just hope for a good egg collection outcome. This is when is really starts to get mentally challenging for me!

Oh gosh yeah those things are messy at the best of times let alone when being on your feet with your job all day! WFH with your feet up is the right idea for sure!

Oh @HSingh15 I'm so sorry 😞 this is so hard and really isn't fair when something like that happens mid cycle and throws you off track. Completely understand how upsetting that would be for you, sending such a big hug. I really know it's not easy to look at it like this, but they want your body to be in the best place for a transfer and getting rid of the polyps will mean that. And then your transfer will hopefully be successful ❤️ but take the time to allow yourself to be upset, it's ok to feel how you feel. Delays really really suck, everything about this journey is a big long wait which is so hard. But you'll get there. Be kind to yourself and rest, you can and will get through this xx

OP posts:
hopefulivfer · 16/11/2022 18:55

@HSingh15
I know you just want to get going, I’m sure you’re consultant just wants the best possible outcome. And when you do transfer, your womb is fully receptive to your emby baby!
Once Xmas is underway it will fly by and before you know it you’re having your transfer!!

@CNizzle no fresh transfer for me. 3 cycles of egg retrieval and then genetic testing. In meantime awaiting hysteroscopy to make sure my big fibroid is not compromising the womb cavity. So many hoops to jump through and a lot of uncertainty still.

Crystal88 · 16/11/2022 20:43

Megan1591 · 16/11/2022 10:45

@Crystal88
That sounds really similar to me last week, mine were 10-14mm last Wednesday. They slowed down my meds over the weekend and I had my retrieval on Monday. Wishing you all the luck.

@Megan1591 Thanks, i have another scan friday so they might reduce my meds to. Are you having eggs put back in straight away?

Megan1591 · 16/11/2022 21:01

@Crystal88
Unfortunately I'm having to freeze all this cycle. I overstimulated and they retrieved 29 eggs, 26 of which were mature. So apparently there is too much risk of OHSS.
Are you doing a fresh transfer?

Crystal88 · 16/11/2022 21:16

@Megan1591 hopefully yes aiming for fresh transfer. But you can never predict things until they are removed

did you know before EC that they were going to be frozen or was it after

countrypunk · 17/11/2022 15:33

Is anyone else waiting to find out how many of their eggs have fertilised? I'm finding it interminable. I keep swinging from super positive to completely negative.

hopefulivfer · 17/11/2022 15:53

Hi @countrypunk

If you’re egg collection was yesterday- they’re supposed to call you 24 hours later with an update. Have you tried contacting the clinic?

The wait is unbearable I know. Got my fingers and toes crossed for you!

countrypunk · 17/11/2022 16:36

Thank you @hopefulivfer ❤️ They're calling tomorrow at 11am. God it's nerve-racking. The embryologist did give a reason for the wait yesterday, but I can't remember it now.

I'm gonna have to comfort binge Netflix tonight 😬😬😬

countrypunk · 17/11/2022 16:37

There's something very comforting about strangers on the internet rooting for you. I'm rooting for everyone here too!

HJen22 · 17/11/2022 16:42

@countrypunk really glad you've spoken to them and know when you'll get your update! It really is a horrible wait! I have everything crossed for you ❤️
