IVF cycle Sept/Oct 2022

Hi everyone.

I wanted to start a thread for anyone going through an IVF round in the next few weeks. I am currently on my third round of ICSI after a MMC at 9weeks on cycle 1 and a BFN on cycle 2. Third time lucky, I hope!

IVF can feel like a very lonely place sometimes so it's nice to have somewhere to vent and get advice 🙂

Sorry to hear that @Zik, sounds like you've had a tough time of it. I think we're on the same timeframe - my OTD is Sunday too. I caved earlier and took a test but karma gave me a kick and it was faulty! Hopefully Sunday will bring good news for both of us

Oh @Zik I'm so sorry to hear that I can't imagine what you've been through I hope you get a positive on OTD it's such a difficult process

@EvelynSalt oh no how frustrating that happened to me with a clear blue how many weeks one luckily it weren't the first test but so frustrating especially when they £15 for 2 I will be thinking of you and wishing you luck also.

My OTD was yesterday I called up to give the results and gave my viability scan on the 8th November just a little over 7 weeks I should be

How is everyone doing? So sorry to hear @Zik, that is desperately unfair and you have had such a tough time of it.

@Spin101 How is your cycle getting along, you must be/have done egg collection now?

I would love love love to hear some positivity. Unfortunately my cycle has been really awful. Stims went well, egg collection went well, and then we were told out of 11 eggs collected only 5 were mature and only one fertilised into a poor quality embryo. It’s so so so upsetting and I can’t believe it, I had no idea there could be a problem with fertilisation or eggs or sperm (sperm has always been good). Just devastating really. I will transfer the poor quality day 3 embryo just so the cycle isn’t a complete waste of time but it’s incredibly demoralising and depressing. I wonder if anyone has any positive stories after such a bad outcome as this.

@Frenchwindows I’m so sorry 😔 I’m just learning about the drop off rates from reading other’s posts. I really hope your embryo sticks!!

I’m on day 4 of stims so EC won’t be until the end of next week. How many days did you stim for?

Ah sorry to here that ladies! Really is such a tough process!!
I’m off work today with a migraine and already had someone say “oo maybe you’re pregnant”… if only they knew and if only it was that easy!! 🙃🤦‍♀️

@Spin101 hope your injections have been going ok! I didn’t find them too bad. I only did them for about a week as I had early egg collection due to risk of OHSS and responding well.

I’m feeling a little more hopeful now, the embryo had continued to divide between day 2 and 3 and had 7 cells which is normal, and fragmentation looked down. I’m grateful I’ve been able to transfer something and now I can just wait and cross my fingers. I can accept that the chances are low and I’ll have to do it again, but i’m ready!

@Frenchwindows thank you! My first two were fine but then next two felt weird like there was something resisting the liquid going in.

Hey I hope it’s ok for me to jump in ☺️

We are doing our first cycle of mild IVF through ABC in Leeds. I just had my first injection of Bemfola 100iu last night. First scan is booked for Monday so we’ll see how I’m getting along then. Need to do tonight’s injection and tomorrow night’s myself at work so not looking forward to that so much. Feeling excited and nervous about the whole process and can’t believe we’re actually doing it!

I have a hopefully not too random question for those of you have started/finished stims. When injecting yourselves, did you feel any resistance when depressing the plunger into your tummy? It was fine for me the first two days and the third and fourth have felt different.

A nurse just called me from the fertility clinic. Turns out I might have been using an ice pack for a few mins longer than I should have been and probably just need to relax to ensure it’s fat and not muscle DH is injecting into.

Did those of you who took Fyremadel take it at a different time to the stims? I’ve been told to but the leaflet says to take it close together so a little confused

@Spin101 thank you! You start on day 1 of your period and it’s roughly 5-9 days of stims before trigger shot and egg collection. I think it’s just a shorter phase of stimming but I’m not too clued up on conventional IVF!

I had a few injections that met some resistance and I got a little bruise - it just seemed to be down to where on my tummy it was in my case!

I had fyremadel in the morning and stims in the evening but, if you're not totally sure, best to speak to your nursing team I think. Good luck!

@Spin101 yeah I got some resistance too in some places and not in others, I really think it just depends where it goes in.
I was told to take both injections close together- maybe double check with the clinic? It might depend on treatment x

I double checked the notes the clinic gave me and it does say fyremadel between 5 and 12pm. I’ve just seen the insert in the box mentions injecting it in your thigh but the nurse mentioned the stomach. It’s the little things that confuse me 😅

@Spin101 yeah mine said either belly or top of thigh! I did belly tho as seemed to make more sense lol. It is confusing tho I agree!

This TWW is torture- I'm all over the place! If anyone has some tips I'll be forever grateful. It 7dpt today and OTD is 28th. I've convinced myself It hasn't worked 🤦🏻‍♀️😭

@bathbombaholic I have no advice I cracked on 7dp however my OTD was 12dp not sure why they so different

@Spin101 the conflicting information is confusing, I did both my ovaleap and fyramadel at the same time first thing so did ovaleap in my thigh (as found that more painful but ovaleap was a nicer injection) and fyramadel into my stomach so not one area got too much time which I found worked well as got little bruising. I got quite a lot of resistance from the trigger injection it ended up spreading out under my skin which stung a bit but absorbed eventually and was fine.

@RoseLlo have you had any update on your transfer yet? I had a meeting yesterday and we’ve decided to go first cycle in Jan otherwise it would’ve been too close to Christmas. So now I’ve just got to do ovulation testing for my next cycles to make sure I can have a natural transfer 🙏

@bathbombaholic thank you! I’m sorry the TWW is so difficult. Yesterday, I wrote down things I will do to relax during IVF in my journal including mindful colouring, Lego, walking, meditation, reading comedy 😄🙈 I’m not sure how much those will help during the TWW if I get there.

@Tonim86 I really want to test early but as OTD is out anniversary my DP is sure this is a sign- so MUST hold out til then!

Hi ladies, can I ask when has the bloated-ness gone for you after egg collection? I had EC 5 days ago and am still so bloated, to the point that it hurts to go on a normal walk for too long. It’s really frustrating :/ I was at risk of OHSS but at my scan before transfer there was no excess fluid and I was all good to go. Really want my normal body back now

@Frenchwindows I felt bloated until after my first period which for me was on day 5 so hopefully you’ll feel better soon!
