IVF cycle Sept/Oct 2022

Hi everyone.

I wanted to start a thread for anyone going through an IVF round in the next few weeks. I am currently on my third round of ICSI after a MMC at 9weeks on cycle 1 and a BFN on cycle 2. Third time lucky, I hope!

IVF can feel like a very lonely place sometimes so it's nice to have somewhere to vent and get advice 🙂

Thanks all. All went well a bit too well they collected 24 eggs. So now I have to wait a couple of months before embryo transfer. I feel absolutely gutted. Which I know probably sounds ridiculous as it’s a good number but I just wanted a fresh transfer, my mood has been so rubbish whilst I’ve been waiting and I’m just not sure what I’m gonna do for the next 2 months haha. Not sure whether to carry on being t total and super healthy or treat myself every now and then.

Hi all, glad I've found this thread - I've been looking at the wrong board (conception) for ages and feeling like a bit of a loner as barely any IVF posts! My bad

I had a 5 day embryo transfer last Tuesday and my OTD is next Sunday. I'm driving myself nuts watching for symptoms! I felt like I had lots and now they've settled down I feel a bid despondent.

This is our first ever IVF cycle so I know I need to be realistic but, wow, it's quite a journey isn't it!

@Nobabyyet20 24 is great! Im sorry you can’t have a fresh transfer. I’ve read lots about it being better for your body to have the FET. If it helps I recently started drinking tart cherry juice (from Amazon). I think it tastes like wine. It supposedly has melatonin or the impact of so might help you sleep better if you need that. What dosages were you on? I just started stims today and have been put on 150IU menopur

@Nobabyyet20 aww congratulations on the number we had 24 collected this round and had FET the break weren't too bad I didn't think and I enjoyed it all did go out a couple of times and had drinks I actually went to a birthday party the weekend before FET. I've been very laid back this round.

@EvelynSalt welcome to the chat hope your journey has gone ok upto now my OTD is tomorrow I cracked and tested early last Thursday 7dp5dt and got a positive. Hoping you have good news too this week 🤞💗

@Nobabyyet20 ah I’m sorry you can have the FET as you’d hoped but try and make the most of your break to get your body back to normal, I’m 2 weeks after EC and still getting twinges from my ovaries, they’re still 5cm (did get up to 10cm) which is mental when they’re usually 2cm so I’ve definitely found it a relief in the end! I was told to treat myself for the next month so have been enjoying the odd glass of wine and some cheese while I can 😅 me and my husband have started a BP (before pregnancy) bucket list to help pass the time 😂😂 Number 1 - spa day before the stress starts again!

@Achaps this is such a good idea! I will do that bucket list idea. Yeah I would like to enjoy the next couple of months definitely gonna have steak and cheese haha!!

@Tonim86 thanks for your reassurance really good to hear you were in the same boat and you’ve had a BFN recently. Did you get OHSS? My main concern is that I have such irregular periods it will be more than 2 months. But we will just have e to see xx

@Nobabyyet20 yes I did get OHSS however we was doing FET any way as was doing genetic testing so I was prepared for that. I swelled quite bad it last about 7 days after EC but it started few days before EC, I probably hated that bit the most it was 40 degrees I was massive and felt horrendous. Now totally work it though 🥰

@Tonim86 do you mind me asking how many of yours fertilised and lasted to day 5 and able to be frozen? Just had a call to say 12 of mine fertilised which is 50% they would usually like 60%. Worrying now as I know that number will drop.

@Nobabyyet20 out of the 24 we had 20 mature eggs and 13 fertilised. 6 made it to day 5 blast and after PGT we ended up with 3 Frosties. I think 12 is a great amount very similar to our round. Let's hope for good news over the next 5 days 🤞

@Nobabyyet20 yes similar ratio to us, we were told expect roughly 50% fall out each stage, started with 21 eggs, to 10 fertilised to then 4 frozen!

@Nobabyyet20 remember lovely- it's NOT a numbers game! Quality over quantity. I only had 5 eggs collected and still got an excellent quality egg HOPEFULLY implanting as we speak 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 it only takes 1 so try not to worry x

@bathbombaholic how many follicles did u have ?
Had a scan today. got only 8 follicles. Ec mostly on Friday or Saturday

The waiting is really tough. Well-intended advice like "try not to think about it too much" make for lots of eye rolling too!

I know it sounds silly but planning nice things to do in free time is really helpful. I went to lots of National Trust places for long walks which helped with stress and was a good distraction.

@APSR I had 9 follicles so similar to you. It doesn't sound like a lot compared to some but it really is enough x

@Nobabyyet20 thank you so much. As others have said TWW dragging but I'm on leave from work so also nice that's not flying by like it normally would! Swings and roundabouts lol x

Can the progesterone suppositories cause hunger and nausea after eating?

@Zik I'm not sure- I haven't experienced this but everyone is different. Are you taking vitamins? Could it be them?

Hi alli took a test today 8dp5dt and it was negative.I plan taking another one on Sunday....
I have a 3yr old from IVF and after that I have gotten pregnant naturally twice..but ended up in miscarriage.
So am just waiting to see what this one brings...

I have a 3yr old from IVF and after that I have gotten pregnant naturally twice..but ended up in miscarriage and swallowing of meconium at 41 weeks pregnancy due to hospital negligence
So am just waiting to see what this one brings

@Zik sorry to hear this but yes still do again on your OTD as you never know. Look after yourself x
