FET in September/October

I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

I am hoping to have a FET next month but they won't proceed with the treatment unless I loose 5lb to get me below 14stone.
So I'm really hoping I can loose that before my next period arrives which is 2.5 weeks away.
Anyway I wish you all the luck in the world 💜💙

MyEasterEggs · 12/08/2022 18:27

@kjbubblez I have a little weight to lose too!

5lbs in two weeks is totally achievable. What do you plan to do to help you shift it?

I’m on a juice cleanse this weekend to give myself a bit of a kickstart then I’ll follow a fertility nutrition plan that I‘ve been struggling to stick to recently. Haven’t been on the ball since egg collection. Reckon I’m about 5 weeks away from starting meds and 8 weeks from transfer.

Wishing you lots of luck too 💛

Hey guys. I had my first FET in March which worked but ended in a blighted ovum/missed miscarriage and we had to be referred for an MVA as nothing was happening naturally. We’ve had a relaxing month there to let everything settle down but are now gearing up to go again hopefully on next cycle. Have done our consents and paid just waiting on plannign call on 26th with embryologist then hoping for 2nd transfer middle of September all being well

kjbubblez · 12/08/2022 19:47

@MyEasterEggs I have been doing slimming world it works but I feel restricted by it. I eat particularly healthy normally but it's all the added little treats I gave myself before doing slimming world. Im hoping with some exercise i can loose the 5lb. What is your fertility nutrition health plan?

@LT103 good luck 🤞

MyEasterEggs · 13/08/2022 09:21

@LT103 sorry to read about your recent loss 💛 how many embryos do you have? And are you NHS or private?

@kjbubblez I’ve had success with slimming world in the past. Like you, it’s the snacking that’s a challenge for me, but I’m going to try and go snack free now and if I want chocolate will make a hot chocolate with unsweetened oat milk and a little honey or coconut oil. The juice cleanse will hopefully help to ease sugar cravings as it’s mostly vegetable based. I feel a bit sluggish so hoping it’ll energise me too!

My plan was given to me by a nutritionist who specialises in fertility. I’ve had multiple losses since the birth of my daughter almost 8 years ago so when we decided to start IVF - to have ICSI and get PGT-A tested embryos - we didn’t want to leave any stone unturned. I’m also getting a bit older now so this really is our last attempt after 6 years of fertility struggles. We’ve got 3 embryos so three chances 💛💛💛

@MyEasterEggs we are private. We did our egg collection back in March and got 9 eggs and 7 day 5 blastocysts frozen so we have 6 left. I am 40 and so I guess there is going to be a bigger chance of abnormal embryos but we didn’t go for pgt-a testing.
our last transfer was the first time we have ever got pregnant though so they seem to think the fact it worked and the fact we still have 6 left gives us a good chance.

when will your transfer be?

MyEasterEggs · 13/08/2022 13:28

@LT103 I think it will be mid-late September, depending on when my period arrives. Cycle was 46 days last month, about two weeks longer than I was expecting. I had a mock cycle with Hysteroscopy and EndomeTRIO the previous cycle though so was on oestrogen and progesterone. Guess that messed with my hormones a bit?

That’s a great number of embryos and chances. The main reason we went for PGT-A is because we know we’ve had at least one chromosomally abnormal pregnancy and we’ve also had male factor issues to navigate. I was also a little unsure about my egg quality. Bit of a minefield so glad we’re out of the whole testing phase now. I’m feeling ready for transfer and just hope I can hold onto the positivity 🙂

@MyEasterEggs I have got 3 frozen embryos too. I wish you all the luck in the world.

I will be having a natural cycle due to the consultants thinking I cannot get pregnant due to all the major surgeries i have had in the past which has caused no end of scar tissue.

💜💜💜💜💙💙💙💙

MyEasterEggs · 17/08/2022 07:20

@kjbubblez have you had a hysteroscopy to confirm there are potential problems with lining? Or can they tell from an ultrasound? I’ve had a few surgeries myself so did abdominal massage to try and help dissolve scar tissue. Last hysteroscopy suggested everything was looking clear so curious to know if that’s a step you’ve taken?

Hi All!

Hope you don't mind me joining here too!
I am 40 and have also just started the meds for my FET. It is our last embryo from my first collection (3 failed transfers so far) so really keeping everything crossed that this is the one!

Trying to focus on staying calm and healthy and putting my faith in science!

Baby dust to us all 💞

MyEasterEggs · 02/09/2022 10:57

Wishing you lots of luck @Hopeful199 💛

My meds have just arrived and I expect I’ll start in around two weeks so I’m a little bit behind you.

I’ve fallen off the wagon this week so need to get back on it over the coming days! So lacking in energy that it’s hard not to enjoy the odd sweet treat!

Hopeful199 · 02/09/2022 11:41

@MyEasterEggs i know, it is so difficult isnt it!

I don't think depriving yourself helps though so don't be too hard on yourself. My main bits have just been to cut out carbs and caffeine. This has mainly been driven by returning from an all inclusive holiday where i had too much of both! AF arrived earlier than i thought so didn't have the week I had planned to get back on the wagon!

I think we have crossed posts before (maybe on ERA?) and really hope this cycle is the one for you x

MyEasterEggs · 02/09/2022 12:11

@Hopeful199 yes I think I recognise your name. I’m still on the ERA board as I only just recently finished my mock cycle/hysteroscopy/endometrio. So this is my first FET.

When is your first scan? Do keep in touch and let me know how your cycle progresses x

Hi all, I think I’m in this club. I’m just not sure how active I’ll be yet, heading to FET #3, first scan is next week. We’re doing a double transfer and I’m feeling like it’s going to hit hard if we get another BFN. So far we’ve had:

Feb - EC - four embryos frozen
April - FET 1 - one embryo - BFN
July - FET 2 - one embryo - BFN
September - FET 3 scheduled - transfer of two embryos planned

So these are our last two NHS embryos, first scan is next Thursday. We move to private in autumn, I need to book a consultation soon for that.

Seems we had the same number of embryos @Hopeful199. I’m 39 so similar age too.

MyEasterEggs · 03/09/2022 09:16

@thislittlebird good luck with next week’s scan.

What tests have you had so far? If you move to private, and I hope you don’t have to, I’m happy to answer any questions about my own private treatment x

thislittlebird · 03/09/2022 14:15

@MyEasterEggs is this your first private round? I’ve had various private consults, we were about to move forward with it a year ago when funded for our nhs round was suddenly approved (we had to fight them because they said we had unexplained infertility when we didn’t, my husband has low motility). I’ll be going with the Lister.

Tests hmmm, obviously the standard ones, dna frag for dh, hycosy, Fertilysis microbiome test for me (awaiting results), having vitamin deficiency tests next week, and I’d like thrombophilia tests because of my family medical history. I’m not bothering to pay for immune tests, I have a list as long as my arm of immune system related problems so I’m just assuming I have immune issues and will discuss when we get to private. Nhs clinic isn’t really interested in any of that. I do natural transfers because I get hormonal migraines and need to avoid oestrogen so I haven’t done an ERA. What about you?

Pepsipoo · 03/09/2022 14:34

Good luck to you all. I have my 2nd FET booked for this week, natural cycle so it has all happened really quick for us. 1st FET resulted in my little miracle, this is our last frosty so actually feel more nervous this time. Hope the little one survives the thaw that's the 1st hurdle. X

Saltisford · 03/09/2022 19:38

Hi all,

I am jumping on to this thread from the July/August FET one for some company.

I started meds in July, had my transfer in August and am now 9 dpt. 😬

I already have a two year old son from ICSI and this frostie is one of two that had been frozen from that IVF cycle.

MyEasterEggs · 03/09/2022 21:34

Good luck @Saltisford and @Pepsipoo seems like you both have a similar history! Keep us updated and wishing you lots of luck 🥰

@thislittlebird it’s my first ever round as I have a child so don’t qualify for IVF on NHS. She’s almost 8 and I’ve had 6 losses since she was born so we decided on IVF so we could have our embryos tested. We’ve gone with The Evewell.

I’ve had most of these tests (or similar). Also thrombophilia and immune as while I have immune issues I found the tests helpful in determining the amount of medication I need. All my thrombophilia tests came back clear but I do have PAI-1 and MTHFR gene mutations which, when paired, can lead to immune issues.

I also got a referral to see Raj Rai at St Mary’s for the TEG test and he decided to look at my diamine oxidase levels, which was helpful, as they were at the low end of normal. I’m now supplementing as he suggested that lower levels can create a hostile environment for a pregnancy. I found that quite reassuring. And testing those levels and getting the supplements is such an easy thing to do!

Hopeful199 · 04/09/2022 17:02

@thislittlebird yes they are similar numbers.

Really hope this is the round for us both 🤞🏻

Im trying so hard to stay zen but it’s so hard. I know quite a few people either struggling to conceive or going through IVF and literally every single one is now pregnant. I’m so so happy for each of them but just really hope that this time is my turn too.

I have my FU scan on Wednesday and if all
looks OK then the transfer is likely to be the following week

thislittlebird · 04/09/2022 17:31

@MyEasterEggs ah that makes sense with your history. I’ll have to look a couple of those other tests up. I’m assuming I have an implantation or age issue, since we managed to make embryos ok.

@Hopeful199 I have my first scan on Wednesday too, I’m doing a natural modified transfer so likely to take a bit longer to get to transfer. Depends when my body decides to pop an egg out!

I don’t know anyone going through this, I know a couple of people who have had ivf. One had first time success and another took about six transfers, I think. I do feel like I’ve entered another layer of infertility as such. The failed ivf level!

Pepsipoo · 04/09/2022 17:37

Have you tested yet? First round I tested early and will probs do the same this time at 7dpt I just won't be able to help myself ha

Hopeful199 · 04/09/2022 18:00

@thislittlebird yes I totally get what you mean about the new layer of infertility 😞…… some of those I know it worked for were against all odds (which is of course amazing) On paper mine all looks good but they just don’t/ won’t stick….. I guess stupidly I hadn’t expected to be the one left behind.

It gives me hope but simultaneously intensifies my feelings of ‘why not me’

so what does natural modified consist of? X

thislittlebird · 04/09/2022 18:09

@Hopeful199 yeah I get that. I thought at the start that it would be an egg meets sperm issue for us, we don’t have numbers problems. He has a normal count but low motility, I have high AMH for 39. So I was probably optimistic back in April (as were the doctors) that we’d be ok, because we can’t have more bad luck, right? Right?! And here we are now, still hoping our luck will change, or a new drug in the protocol will work. I didn’t expect to still be here either, you just assume it’ll work. Hopefully it will, eventually.

Natural modified is just a normal cycle, unmedicated until you start taking progesterone around transfer. They scan me for my lead follicle and then get me to use OPKs. When I get a positive I report it and they schedule the transfer. I can’t do fully natural because I need the progesterone, mine has been low in the past. Fully medicated would mean oestrogen for me and I’m keen to swerve that, so natural modified seems like the best compromise for me.

Saltisford · 05/09/2022 10:41

Well I’m out, a BFN for me this morning
