I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

I'm 34+2 and still have 4 weeks of work left to do! Working from home full time now from this week so not too bad. Kind of miss the office for the social interaction and was sad saying bye to everyone but nice to have an extra hour in bed!

We have a bit of an exciting week baby wise. Got someone coming today to fit the wardrobes in baby's room. Tomorrow our big mamas and papas order is arriving with pram, car seat, cot and whatever else I dont remember ordering. Wednesday carpet is being fitted and Thursday I see the midwife. Still not packed a hospital bag or finished buying everything for baby but getting there and can't wait to have his room finished and start putting stuff away.

EandKDJ · 15/05/2023 08:57

We're 35+2 today, doing well. I'm still at work and working up until the end. We had a 4D scan a couple of weeks ago which was amazing, it was so nice to see her little face in such detail.
She's still refusing to stay in a head down position though, so our midwife wants us to have a chat with the consultant to discuss the option of elective cesarean rather than the induction that was previously recommended at 39 weeks.
Otherwise we're all ready now, hospital bag packed and everything bought and assembled. Getting very excited to meet her now 😌

Gosh, it seems a stupid thing to say, but look how far we’ve come!!! After many years of trying and a number of transfers, it’ll be over in the best possible way soon. I was doing my birth plan yesterday and things like that really bring the reality of actually having a baby home!!

@Kelvie103 we were hoping to have the nursery finished by now, but it’s dragging on, so I’m glad yours seems to be going to plan. We have so many boxes in the hallway waiting to be unpacked!

@EandKDJ well done re hospital bag; I’ve made lists, but haven’t packed anything yet. Re c-section I had an amazing private session with the founder of LushTums last week, see said she’d put all the info she went through with us in a blog on the website, so maybe check it out.

OrangeBengal · 15/05/2023 10:01

Hey @LT103, I think we’re probably all terrified at going into the great unknown and having someone so tiny be so reliant and dependent on us, but I console myself (a bit) with the fact that every parent has been there.

Also from what I understand not having a c-section date yet is normal, I only have one because I’m private. Others I know have got their dates at 39 weeks and then it’s generally been a pretty quick turnaround.

LT103 · 15/05/2023 11:47

@OrangeBengal ill hopefully get it today. They told me it would be 3 weeks before as I have to book onto the prep class (chat with anaesthetist/physio etc) and book pre op appt and stuff like that. Scan at 3 today so will find out more then 🤞🤞

can’t believe we’re all near the end. We have nursery finished, next to me up and car seat fitted etc but seem to keep finding lots of other jobs I need to do haha. Every time I think I’m organised I find something else.
have had hospital bags packed for 2 weeks now but just to add last minute things like charger etc. exciting times

Hi all, it's so nice to hear everyone checking in!

I had little baby Sonny on 11th May at 39 weeks in my local birth unit. Everything went so beautifully and I felt so supported and looked after. We are still in hospital as he has some jaundice but hopefully getting home today or tomorrow. I am on cloud 9 and am just drinking in every little second with him. I promise you all, all the hard work, the invasive testing, the disappointment, the waiting, the pregnancy issues, they are all worth it once you get to hold your baby in your arms. I cant wait for you all to feel the way I'm feeling. And take lots of pics and videos. Every day is going by so fast already!

@chloedancer88 Oh wow huge congratulations! That's such a cute picture, I have to admit it's made me well up a bit reading that. Glad you had a good birth experience and hope you can bring him home soon.

OrangeBengal · 15/05/2023 16:27

That’s so heartening to hear @chloedancer88 and congratulations on Sonny’s arrival, I hope you’re all doing fabulously, lovely photo too. x

Hi everyone, just wondering how everyone is doing? I'm 38 weeks today and booked in for my cesarean next Monday 😬😬😬 getting very nervous about it, but I was told my only options were induction or cesarean as my consultant doesn't want me to go much past 39 weeks.. I'm kind of hoping she makes an earlier appearance and I can have a natural birth.

LT103 · 07/06/2023 18:23

Hi there. Just a check in….hope everyone is doing well!! Our beautiful little boy Lewis was born on 1/6/23 by planned section. Everything went as planned and he has been an absolute dream baby so far. We’re in love!
cluster feeding started yesterday which is fun but he is just the most laid back baby!

LT103 · 07/06/2023 18:40

@EandKDJ just to reply to your post. I had the same options. Induction at 38 or section at 39. I went back and forward trying to make a decision but the worry of a long and probable failed induction (I got told 50% chance of ending in section) plus a larger baby made me pick planned section.
I spent the last month worrying I’d made the wrong decision and worrying about how it would go.
This is just my story but it couldn’t have gone better. It is super relaxed, the staff were great explaining everything and putting my mind at rest. The actual procedure is so quick and nothing prepares you for seeing that little baby. I was a mess!
I was taken last so around half 3. recovery wise I took about 6 hours til I could move my legs and I got my catheter out next morning. Pain wise, I was in less pain post op than I was with pelvis before. All the pelvic pain and heartburn goes instantly. Don’t be afraid to ask for extra pain relief. I did twice when I was staring to feel it and it settled quickly. I was able to get up and care for the baby that night and stayed 2 nights (mainly cos we are breastfeeding and it takes some time to get it going ok. He was just so sleepy)
I got home on Saturday and we’ve been out a walk every day since Monday and managing fine. Pain is almost gone, wound fine and I am so surprised how things are going.
obviously everyone is different but I hear more positive stories than negative. Good luck!!!

EandKDJ · 08/06/2023 10:07

@LT103 thank you for sharing your story and huge congratulations on the birth of your son!! I'm glad your birth experience was positive 😊

Since my last post, the situation has changed a little. My placenta has started to stop delivering what the baby needs so her growth has slowed significantly. I've been told that I'm going to have to have an emergency c section tomorrow morning as she'll do better out than in at this point 😬.

Hopefully I'll be as fortunate as yourself with my recovery and my little one will be just fine. Congratulations again to you xx

Kelvie103 · 08/06/2023 11:09

@LT103 Congratulations on your son! Glad you had a good experience and are recovering quickly.

@EandKDJ Good luck for tomorrow, wishing you all the best. I've heard alot of good things about c section births so try not to worry too much.

I'm just coming up to 38 weeks now and have been booked in for an induction on my due date. They offered it to me at 39 weeks but I'd rather give him an extra week to come on his own as everything has been fine so far. Have to admit I'm quite worried about it as I know a few people who've had inductions lately and all have been in labour for days before ending up in a c section anyway. I think if I had the choice I'd go for an elective section but my trust don't allow those without a medical need. I'm just going with a hope for the best but expect the worst attitude and happy to be meeting my boy soon however he gets here.

LT103 · 08/06/2023 14:08

Good luck for tomorrow @EandKDJ !!!

OrangeBengal · 08/06/2023 14:09

Congratulations @LT103 and I’m glad you’re both doing well. I’m scheduled in for a c-section for medical reasons, so I’ve known my date for awhile, however after seeing the consultant yesterday my delivery date may need to be brought forward by a week to next week (36+6 weeks) due to potentially having less fluid then they’d like (they’ll check me again on Mon / Tues). I’m a bit worried, but assuming the professionals will make the right decision!

@Kelvie103 a few of the women on my local WhatsApp group have had inductions that were good experiences that didn’t end in c-sections. If you’re especially concerned, can you ask what percentage of inductions end up in c-sections at your hospital and if it’s high, maybe plan for a c-section?

Kelvie103 · 08/06/2023 16:14

@OrangeBengal Thanks, that's reassuring to know. It seems all I hear are bad stories but I suppose they wouldn't do inductions if they never worked! I've packed some granny pants and c section comfortable clothes just in case and will ask my midwife about c section rates next week when I see her. Good luck with your appointment next week. I can understand the worry and having a plan for so long to have it possibly changed now.

chloedancer88 · 08/06/2023 16:18

@Kelvie103 my advice is to ask for vaginal examinations in the lead up to your induction to know if you are favourable. The inductions that don't tend to work are because your body isn't ready.

Also, your trust cannot decline a Caesarean section. All they can do is counsel you on the risks vs benefits and if you still want to go ahead, they have to provide that for you. I've attached the guidance for you if you want to quote it at your next appointment or have a read of it. It's your body, your baby. You can do what you want!

Hi all, please welcome Fox, born Tuesday 20th June, 6 lb 2 oz. Healthy and hearty. We’ve been home since Friday and apart from not sleeping in the cot at night he’s been a wonder.

LT103 · 27/06/2023 22:35

Loving all the photos!!! Congrats @OrangeBengal and @SL42smbc so glad all the babies are here safe and sound.
lewis is doing great and piling on the weight. He gained 13oz last week and feels like he’s done the same this week. He’s a little chunk and feeding and sleeping great!! I won’t lie though, the evening cluster feeding is rough!!!
