FET in September/October

I’m preparing to start my treatment cycle in a month or so and thought it might be helpful to start up a thread for anyone heading for FET soon.

This will be my first FET so I’m nervous but also feeling hopeful having gone through a fair amount of testing and treatment. Think I’m about as prepared as I’ll ever be!

Current cycle finally got going two days ago after a bit of a delay and I’ve decided to use it to focus on eating well and getting into the right headspace.

Anyone at a similar stage and want some company?

I’ve had a few days away from all things fertility but it’s been good to catch up.

Glad things are progressing well @SarahC1985. It seems the rest of you are either waiting for results or approaching treatment and transfers so good luck!

Welcome @rollercoastertobaby. We’re at a similar stage as my period is due in the next week or so (cycles are irregular so hard to pin down) and then I start my first FET cycle. I also have an older child and it’s been tricky coping with secondary infertility all these years x

Today was OTD and got myself a dye stealer!!! I'll stop testing for a while I think now. Good luck to everyone else! Please please don't test early like I did! You'll drive yourself absolutely bonkers!

@SarahC1985 how many days after FET is OTD? Having only ever TTC naturally I’m not sure and haven’t had those details! That’s a nice strong line you gave there. What’s the next step for you in terms of follow up?

SarahC1985 · 11/09/2022 10:53

@MyEasterEggs my clinic said 12DP5DT. I see some clinics say 9-10DP5DT. I definitely got clear positives from then.

I let my clinic know and they scan me in 2 weeks. After that, I'll self refer to my midwife. I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks in 2020 so it's hard to even think that far ahead but I definitely never had such clear lines on a test then.

What stage are you at now?

MyEasterEggs · 11/09/2022 11:00

It’s a good sign @SarahC1985 now to keep your mind occupied for the next two weeks 💛

I’m waiting on my period to start then I’ll be on with the oestrogen. All my meds are here now…between the lubion and clexane there are so many injections.

Arranged a consultation for Thursday as I want a second opinion about my treatment plan from an immune specialist. So after that I’ll hopefully feel good to go!

@MyEasterEggs the one thing I did differently this time was see an acupuncture and nutrition specialist and I definitely think that helped me big time. Even when I was waiting for my period to come, I would see him and it would arrive the next day! Always good to see a second opinion. What are the injections for? I was on oestrogen and the spray and then I have been taking progesterone. I didn't have to take injections this time

MyEasterEggs · 11/09/2022 16:13

@SarahC1985 I struggle with acupuncture but reflexology I love. Got my final nutritional consultation on Thursday and agree that’s helped. It’s been good to have someone prescribe supplements based on my needs so I feel pretty confident.

The injections are progesterone and clexane. Also having aspirin, steroids and intralipids so will be rattling around a bit!

@MyEasterEggs I know, I carry an old lady pill box around with me! Haha we are more meds than person at this point!

MyEasterEggs · 12/09/2022 14:57

Wouldn’t be without my pill boxes 😂

That’s my cycle started so I’m on the oestrogen from tomorrow and first scan is booked. So many emotions but I’m mostly excited so trying to hold onto that!

@MyEasterEggs amazing news! Another step towards the big day. Keep us updated x

LT103 · 13/09/2022 15:44

@SarahC1985 congratulations!!!

i can’t remember who said now about the bloating and cramping. @Pepsipoo ? I had that after last transfer continuously so 🤞 it’s a good sign!!

we’ve been having bloods run over last few days so lh surge has been detected and I have natural FET booked for Saturday 😬😬😬

Oo exciting.
How am I only day 5pt. This a drag. I've had bloating pretty much on and off since transfer and had bad cramps day3 which I recall last time, so some days I feel positive but today am not. Think its just the frustration of test day being so far away.

LT103 · 13/09/2022 17:19

I tested early last time and it just made me worse so I’m def not this time around however those 10 days seem like the longest 10 days!!!

rollercoastertobaby · 13/09/2022 21:46

@SarahC1985 congratulations, that’s a very nice pink line!

@MyEasterEggs
Thanks for the welcome and good to know we are at the same stage. I’m on day 4 of my cycle now. I had my baseline scan yesterday and they said everything is fine so should be okay to have the FET. Where are you in your cycle?

I know how you feel about it being tricky coping with secondary infertility and simultaneously wanting to enjoy your time with your child. I was an only child and hated it so never wanted to be in this situation but actually DD is a pretty happy well adjusted kid so I’m not as worried as I was at the beginning of this infertility journey.

SarahC1985 · 13/09/2022 22:29

@Pepsipoo how are you feeling? X

MyEasterEggs · 14/09/2022 08:55

@rollercoastertobaby I’m on day 3 now and think transfer date will be 1st Oct as they want me on an extra 24 hours of progesterone. I leave for London on Tuesday so will stay with a friend down there during cycle. Hard being away but travelling back and forth for scans and bloods and intralipids will only add to the anxiety. I live in the middle of the Scottish Borders! So I’m kind of relieved to have that as an option. How you feeling?

OP posts:
rollercoastertobaby · 14/09/2022 10:25

@MyEasterEggs It sounds like a good idea to stay in London. We live in London so it’s okay with the travel thankfully. I’ve found it hard enough juggling work and the IVF.

Feeling okay so far. It doesn’t feel as intense as the scanning pre egg collection part of the IVF cycle. My eggs in both my first and second IVF cycles didn’t grow for the first 2 or 3 scans so that was completely demoralising. But now it doesn’t matter, just need one egg to be released and then we can transfer. Our transfer will probably be 1st October too. Im sure then I’ll feel a little more nervous but I’m trying to work as much as possible so that I don’t have time to think about it! Last time I spent far too much nervous energy on it all and as a close friend said regardless of worrying the outcome will be the same.

@Pepsipoo how are you feeling? X

Am not too bad, I did test today couldn't help myself day 6 and its negative so obvs am convinced it hadnt worked this time.
How are you getting on?

SarahC1985 · 14/09/2022 10:41

@Pepsipoo I got the faintest of faint positives at 7dp5dpt so I think it's too early! I'm good. Back to work but it's difficult dealing with the nausea. It's very much welcomed as it reminds me that it's actually happening. When will you test again? When is your OTD?

Official test date is Monday but I will probs test again at the weekend. Been in work so that has helped take my mind off it a bit this week.
When is your scan? All good signs for you though having nausea this early.

How are you feeling? @MyEasterEggs

rollercoastertobaby · 14/09/2022 11:17

Hi @Pepsipoo Just wanted to say I only got 1-2 weeks on the digital test at exactly OTD so I’m pretty sure if I’d tested early it would have been negative. It’s still very early days at 6DPT. Hang in there x

Ah thank you. I hope you're right. Will keep you updated

MyEasterEggs · 14/09/2022 13:50

Similar to you @rollercoastertobaby, there’s a sense of what will be will be.

My egg collection cycle was intense too but I’ve since been back for a mock cycle so all this treatment is beginning to feel like the norm now 😅

Just trying to make space for lots of self-care, sleep, movement and letting go of the outcome, maybe allow myself to get a little excited!

rollercoastertobaby · 14/09/2022 14:17

@MyEasterEggs Absolutely. I listened to a podcast called IVFthis, its by an IVF coach, she’s really lovely. In it she said she was in a shop looking at baby clothes and she thought she’d just buy the newborn onesie she loved. She said sometimes she’s asked if she thinks it’s a good idea to get too excited and she said allow yourself to feel the excitement for a little bit, not to get wrapped up in but just allow yourself to feel the normal emotions. I also think it helps picturing that it might well happen when you buy a little something for them. I might do that in the coming week.
